Re: Combining the power of 2 computers for Reason
Nope. you need a interface and a cpu that does at least 2000-3000 bench at max power for radio hits or films. Hmm, so if I want to make use of the 768000 Hz oversampling in Reaktor, I'll need such DAC after all. Cause so far, most threads, blogs, forums and whatnot said that 44100 Hz DAC is all one...

Re: Combining the power of 2 computers for Reason
Ah, I didn't realize they are rather used for rendering. And meanwhile reading your second reply I see it's not as simple as I thought. It's just that I don't know what to expect for over-sampling. Then again, processing a static monophonic, mono sample shouldn't be that demanding. Tops when it com...

Re: Combining the power of 2 computers for Reason
Yeah, so I want to know if there's any way to make both a laptop and a desktop PC work together? Running Reason for example (though Reaktor would be nice, too), combining their processing power, RAM, SSD/HDD, etc. You probably could buy an audio interface with midi i/o and treat the laptop as an ex...

Re: Combining the power of 2 computers for Reason
rewire ? multiple liscenced computers... got 9.5 and 10 separate... but never tried yet says 2 licenses Not the same what I wanted. I sort of thought that multiple devices could combine their 'brain power'. But yeah, it's like two people can work together, but doesn't mean they will be twice as int...

Re: Combining the power of 2 computers for Reason
That's a bummer... Yet 3D animation studios use special CPU-farms. Why not for audio... Because rendering is not real time. You could certainly use a CPU farm to offline render audio, but it wouldn't make sense because if your CPU can't play the audio in real time, you can't mix or overdub. And if ...

Re: Combining the power of 2 computers for Reason
The only time I've seen such a setup work was with samplers hosted on one computer, and the main DAW on another, and the motivation for that particular setup was to host huge sample libraries online all at the same time. Was a pain to work with (since I'm used to using one integrated system), but t...

Re: Mixing to a pink noise reference
With the A / B listening and leveling method, in my case the result was that when I compared a kick, a snare and a hat after calibrating with the help of pink noise; they sounded equally loud (each having their respective dominant frequencies on the spectrum of course). After that, one can still dec...

Re: Mixing to a pink noise reference
I think I read this one in the past, too. Most articles suggest that you mix with the pink noise on. What I think is that it kind of fools your ears, and may even cancel some frequencies out of the sound that you mix to it. All in all, I thought, to get the most consistent results, it's better to ha...

Re: Reaktor 32 bit audio rendering/exporting (DAW)?
Looks like it goes with 16 bits, and this seems to be sort of a limitation - as a quick googling/forum find suggests. Any ideas if it goes up to the raw/internal 32 bit?

Reaktor 32 bit audio rendering/exporting (DAW)?
At the moment, I didn't find much info whether I can render audio in Reaktor itself, or whether it's only possible with another DAW. Now, Reason doesn't support 32 bit exporting, but I do have an Ableton Live Lite, and when I tested it, I saw it supports 32 bit rendering. 32 bit audio needs no dithe...

Re: New Master EQ every 4 bars?
Mastering IS about applying a setting across all channels. It's historically been more important when mastering albums to create a continuous flow/feel from one song to the next. It's similar to color grading in the film industry. Mastering a single is less important today (but still valid) since i...

Re: New Master EQ every 4 bars?
Thanks for explaining! Sounds like an interesting concept. Try and out and see if it works for you. Would this be something you only do on a song by song basis or would you do this when mastering an entire album as well? This is something that could work for either individual songs, or albums, caus...

Re: What type of music do you primarily create with Reason?
I like both dance and break beat, but with a bit of mysterious sound to it. So I went for Electronic/R&B/Ambient. (27-29-er : P) What I like even more, is when dance and break is mixed. Here's an example to that - the link is timed to 0:29 secs - in case it wouldn't start there ~ really good example...

Re: New Master EQ every 4 bars?
Haven't tried this idea with EQ, but I do automate the master bus compression settings between different parts. That makes more sense to me. I was thinking about multi-band compression, but... I kind of want to avoid that, since I prefer less compression, and a rather static EQ. Well, it would stay...

Re: New Master EQ every 4 bars?
That sounds like a pain in the ass. EQ the mix instead. Never heard of anybody doing this. Do people do this? I’m genuinely interested because it seems like a bad idea, lol. So, here's how things work: I prepare my ears with reference songs, for the audio engineering session. That way I know the li...

Re: New Master EQ every 4 bars?
caveat: I play rock genres, mostly, so no high production “modern” styles... that said, I feel like, if you need to change your master section at any point in the middle of a song, there might be larger EQ or compression issues that need addressing (probably at the track level). in my view, the mas...

New Master EQ every 4 bars?
What's your opinion about setting a new Master EQ every 4 bars (that's about how often my music changes), instead of just 1 or 2 (usually based on, and referencing busy song sections)?
