I use ASIO4ALL regardless x D ~ mostly because I also use a Focusrite Scarlett with a Rode NT1 mic.

Topping E30 II has it all. Plus it's high-end. When I got it, it was 150 EUR.miyaru wrote: ↑25 Sep 2023Seen them only the other way round ie.: usb to spdif. You need good asio drivers btw to obtain good low latency.
Maybe this fits your budget: https://focusrite.com/products/scarlet ... efurbished

Good news everyone, there is a free version! Protools Intro. I'll give it a shot sometime ~ https://www.avid.com/pro-tools/intro There’s been a free version for years. It’s very very limited though. Oh? I only knew about the trialing option. Heck, software bundled with midi gear has been said to be...

Will there be a light version again? I'd try it then.

Re: Loudness Wars - Logic vs Reason
The condescending tone (with the video) and persistent nitpicking are pretty disappointing, Giles. I appreciate that we all go through our own personal and private struggles and that we don't know what another person might be going through, but this is all so small, ... Sincere apologies, I honestl...

Re: Loudness Wars - Logic vs Reason
Even Youtube's LUFS limit is -14 LU. Even Bob Katz recommends something around that for pop music as a quick Google search resulted. Dan Worrall won the loudness war. : ) That’s not accurate to say it is a “limit”, it’s a suggestion (which most commercial releases ignore). Also from a google search...

Re: Loudness Wars - Logic vs Reason
This… in Logic I use one of its various metering tools to get the lufs to about -15 for the streaming sites (and peak dbfs at -1)… is there a way to do this in Reason 11? I have the mixing rack extension package that propllerhead sold w it years ago. Let me stop you right there and ask an obvious q...

Re: Loudness Wars - Logic vs Reason
Regarding comments, I use Goldwave for example to set a LU level. When it comes to a song, a "dead" (wave) processor does this 100% accurately in seconds, or faster - instead of something vague that one may just eyeball with DAWs, sitting there for 3-5 minutes. Audacity may do this, too. (Free, but ...

Re: excessive side-chain compression is now a violation of international law
I just thought about this. I'd only do it manually, and on smooth, static stuff, like reverb, non-rhythmic pads, static SFX, etc. So, it would be alright to have a fun pumping section. But yeah, it kind of ruins music when used inappropriately. Yet I grew up with the birth of pumping. Aka. Call on m...

I can never get this method to work for me. Seems the last thing I wan't to do when I'm outdoors is bury my head in a laptop. Plus in the...

Ah, mini midi keyboards. A lot of them are great, but the cheapo ones' keys yellowed for me. I find it disgusting, cause it appears filthy. Not sure what happened. It didn't get more humidity or UV than usual. I wonder if it still works even. x D Then again, it was a mini, keystation by M-Audio. Ano...

Re: What can I know and understand about the difference between mixing and mastering a song?
Good point! I guess that's yet another mistake I tend to fall into, if I don't dare to break the rules. Gotta take every rule with a grain of salt. There's room for creativity everywhere as long as we achieve what we wanted, and make improvements. Plus there's always room for experimentation everyw...

Re: Linear phase in Spectral EQ Window/SSL EQ Section?
Linear phase is superior when it comes to multi-band processing, or maybe M/S HP filtering.
If pre-ringing happens, then it can only be eliminated when cutting it off, such as with a one shot sample, or slices (rex loops for example).

Re: What can I know and understand about the difference between mixing and mastering a song?
I'd add that it's good to avoid a common mistake I fell into, too. When I basically thought that we have to do some restoration magic during mastering ~ which in fact was basically a very complicated form of mixing, done on a single stereo mix channel. It doesn't help that "remastered" means whatev...

Maybe I should just ignore charts. Even AR guys make whiny youtube videos that the charts are absolute trash. x D Well... it's kind of the AR guys' fault, isn't it? Since the original Napster came along the charts only show the musical taste of people who do not know how to get their music for free...

Re: What can I know and understand about the difference between mixing and mastering a song?
Mixing combines multiple streams of audio into a single stream of audio. Mastering adjusts that single stream, historically for multiple delivery mediums, e.g. LP or Spotify, but along the way the tools of that trade came to be used to "sweeten" the stream for all mediums in ways which would otherw...

I tried the radio. First there was a remix of Safri duo. Then there was a remix of Equador. Then there was a remix of "Papa was queen on the kongo, mama was king on whatever" Then I turned it off, cause the cringe burned my face and body. : ) Does writing new songs sell THIS bad? AI reminds me of steampunk era. Gotta find another profitable area in the - in this case - audio field. Gotta adapt. Agree about the “time to adapt” part.
