Re: PSQ-1684 v3.1.0 is in the shop! [Updates]
I’ve never seen this RE before, and thank you Hydlide for releasing the explanatory video posted above! With all the functionality as well as the mod-matrix and connectivity in the back it seems to me that this must be the most powerful sequencer available for Reason. I’ve always used Reason as a li...

Re: Hacking Reason for MIDI madness!
You can do a lot with MIDI sysex in Reaper with Reascript and rewire Reason into Reaper. Don’t get me wrong, I was creating device panels in Cubase when they first became available...I’m pretty good with both NRPN messages and SysEx data. Most of my synths communicate that way, and two of my sample...

Re: (DnB) Bright Spot
Nice track. I’d like to see some build up of the drums. As it stands we’ve got the single pattern that is a great and classic one but I still wish we had a little more build. Great step away from the often heavy and dark genre norms! The sounds are excellent and the mix seems well-balanced.

Re: Hacking Reason for MIDI madness!
Nevermind. I see the flaws in my logic here Can you elaborate for the electronically challenged? At first blush, it makes some intuitive sense a galvanic MIDI transmission could be recorded and re-streamed. I assume DC coupling is required. Is that something that doesn't get recorded to audio? Than...

If I were to record SysEx dumps as an audio file ( by hacking a MIDI cable into a TRS housing ) and then use Thor to change audio to CV, and then use the free CV-MIDI converter to get them back This is not possible. Explain why. “This is not possible” is not the most demonstrative of answers. I DO ...

Hacking Reason for MIDI madness!
So, I’ve been working on hacking MIDI in the same manner I’ve hacked SMPTE for my system. If I were to record SysEx dumps as an audio file ( by hacking a MIDI cable into a TRS housing ) and then use Thor to change audio to CV, and then use the free CV-MIDI converter to get them back it seems like I ...

Re: Controlling hardware synth w/ Reason
Make sure that you’ve got the subphatty selected as the MIDI device. Check that it’s the correct channel. Place the RPG 8 as you would with an internal Reason device. Press a key on the midi controller, and make sure that gate and cv are setup properly to go to the EMI. Hopefully after checking all ...

Re: Thank you Propellerhead for giving us Reason.
I started out on Cubase...2? On Atari STE. It was in black and white, and I had this crappy GM module that I absolutely adored at the time. "Sound design" was playing instruments too low or two high. No effects to speak of, apart from a reverb and delay that you couldn't edit (without knowing some ...

Re: Best sidechain in reason 10
Of course you can use the SSL compressor for this by using the sidechain inputs. It can be used as a de-esser (using the mclass stereo effect), keyed ducker, or even keyed gating (opposite of the sidechain pumping you want).....however I’ll be the first to admit that it’s only got one response curve...

Re: 32 bit depth exporting coming soon?
I like the idea of high resolution export, even I do not need it. But tbh, most ppl cannot hear the difference between 96khz 24bit audio and a 128mbit mp3. First, they do not have the equipment, second they do not know how such music would sound. A lot of stuff i hear in the current pop music is su...

Re: 32 bit depth exporting coming soon?
Quite surprised that reason doesn't have 32 bit depth exporting yet, it's pretty much the standard for most daws now and is way better than 24 bit. Haven't seen any threads on this, has Propellerhead mentioned anything about it? In what way would you say that “32 but is way better”? It is true that...

Re: Random audio trivia of the day
The bit depth of an audio file defines it's dynamic range, the sampling rate defines the highest frequency that can be captured, there is no other quality differences . This video explains best why that is so: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cIQ9IXSUzuM I have a fairly deep understanding of the wor...

Re: Update for RX950 Classic AD/DA Converter
It’s probably in the gain stages he implemented. Not sure if you know this, but every time you run a signal through certain types of transistor amplifiers (at the component level) you actually flip the phase. There are also several rackmount devices that have a flipped phase and every studio has 4-...

Re: Update for RX950 Classic AD/DA Converter
What situations would phase inversion be an issue? Multi-mic’ed drums if you’re using one on room mic(s)....I cant think of a reason to use this on one half of a stereo pair. What problems are you running in to? Splitting the signal, using it on sends, parallel channels, with dry/mix in a Combinato...

Re: NoteSet Player RE
Started reading the description & instantly thought about Propellerhead's own Scales & Chords Player. Then I read this; In contrast to the Scale & Chords player, NoteSet does not use a predefined musical scale, it’s always adapting to the chords being played. The same incoming notes are corrected o...

Hi, Thank you for your feedback after the release of the RX950 1.1 update! We understand that it can be an important issue for our users who were satisfied with t...

Re: Update for RX950 Classic AD/DA Converter
The “bandwidth” setting on the original Akai DOES go up to 19,200Hz, and you can get very crisp detail from it. I loved the original RX950, because you pretty much always sample at 10kHz or less if you can get away with it. It’s nice to see the dev implementing a switch so it won’t break peoples pr...

So it's just a regular eq right? What makes it your favorite? Saturation or something? it's not just a regular eq, especially if you have the hardware unit. it's pretty magical. Do you have the 40 y/o original or one of the reissues by Pulse? Or another company’s clone? I’ve never had a huge use fo...
