Ok Ace well it is actually GQ-7 - not QG-7 as the thread is titled. I'm glad you are making progress.

Re: Synapse QG-7 Equalizer
I bought it almost immidiately and have found a place for it in my rack. It serves me very well as a last device, before a Limiter in a mastering chain. When my mix is colored and slightly distorted, I just boost the highs with it and it seems to soften up the sound of it. I don't believe in master...

Re: Looking for a medium to long term collaborator/musical partner
It is an interesting idea and could potentially give you a fresh perspective. I think my days of collaboration are over though. I like to be in control.

Re: Making Deep House
I believe that’s because any guy with a laptop and a bunch of pirated VSTs can make (bad) music that’s (poorly) mixed, home mastered, and smashed to within an inch of its life. As a recording engineer for years a lot of newer music offends me....the vinyl releases seem to be a bit less compressed b...

Some interesting panning decisions and I agree about the left-leaning acid. I like the eerie choir synth progression.

Re: [Electro] Addictions - ElPh (Finished - critics on mastering appreciated)
Nice rhythmical play in this track. I was pleasantly surprised with the vocal that works well for the track. My only issue is the snare. It seems to be sticking out of the mix too much. I would maybe try some saturation, leveling and transient shaping if need be. When you layer the snare later in th...

Uplifting vibe like the second day of a festival. Nice lead synth progression. Noise swooshes were maybe too intense for my morning ears listening with headphones.

Rolls along nicely. The hoover synth sounds were an interesting choice.

What I take from this is it serves as a great example of how Beatport is flooded with garbage. That is pretty funny.

Re: Making any sound fuller
Engineers say they do this, but I don't know how many describe the process in detail. I would imagine they're not doing much at all, and have a very planned out system that helps them know what to expect. Bingo  Mmmm. I think there are lines to be drawn between production / mixing / mast...

Re: Making any sound fuller
Many great mix/masters have been done this way. Nothing wrong with mixing into master effects as long as you know what you're doing .This is a technique done by many different people! I personally feel that this method is most important for independent electronic producers, as it helps them realize...

Re: Making any sound fuller
you should never make everything sound the same. if everything sounds full, it is full of shit. I said 'any', not 'every', in the title. I was about to say...who said anything about making things sound the same?! :D But just for the sake of support - contrast is indeed important with all aspe...

Re: Taking a break from music making?
The book The War of Art written by Steven Pressfield is also fantastic. Highly recommended! This book is partly responsible for turning me into a maniac. “We must do our work for its own sake, not for fortune or attention or applause.” “To labor in the arts for any reason other than love is prostit...
