Also pretty cool that they got none other than Suzanne Ciani to do a little demo performance with it (integrating it with her Buchla setup of course).

Re: News from Noise Engineering: free REs, new/updated REs
I've said it before, but I simply love how Noise Engineering REs fit the Reason ethos: They're more standalone than most Eurorack modules, in that you can do plenty with one by itself, yet they are highly modular-friendly and reward getting deep into creative routing. That's basically the Reason phi...

If you want less screen than an Akai Force but more external sequencing than a Novation Circuit, the Korg SQ-64 might be what you’re looking for: https://www.korg.com/us/products/dj/sq_64/

Re: Reason Cables video is really good
Two things about this video: - It's a solid tutorial that is accessible to newcomers, but could have a few gems for experienced users (I never considered using an LFO as a trig sequence, even though I know it's all just CV). - It plays to Reason's strengths. Only Reason has this kind of modulation a...

Re: MacBook Pro m1- worth it or too much ???
Reason isn't native but some people have said that they have experience and the performance even under Rosetta is more than acceptable but I definitely wouldn't run out and buy one without being able to try it Most of the vst synths I own are native so bonus but if the host isn't then it doesn't ma...

Re: MacBook Pro m1- worth it or too much ???
I have a 2013 MacBook Pro that I'm finally replacing with an M1 Pro. The thing is, if I really had to, I could keep producing music on this old machine. I had a 2008 MacBook Pro before it, and a 2003 PowerBook back in the day, and both of those were unusably slow by the time I replaced them... not s...

Re: Rack Extensions and M1
The key difference is that unlike VSTs, which are compiled by the developer, REs are all compiled by Reason Studios. So when Reason for M1 is available, RS will add M1 as a compile target for the RE build server and M1 versions of all your REs will be generated automatically. You’ll probably just ha...

Hey, Reason Suite isn't entirely dead!
It is somewhat tempting to bring my Suite collection "up to date" with this deal... If it were in the rewards store, I'd pick it up for sure.

The long-awaited M1 Pro Macs ship next week, and those will come with Monterey preinstalled, so hopefully Reason Studios has been testing with the beta for the past four months.

Re: How do I transition from Reason+ to normal Reason 12
If you own a Reason 11 license, all you need to do is buy the Reason 12 upgrade. There's nothing stopping you from keeping the subscription active even after you upgrade if you really want to keep getting the content packs / have access to all the first-party REs, but the two licensing models are co...

Re: Tunecore RS offer
This regularly-updated guide by Ari Herstand is basically the gold standard for comparing music distributors.
https://aristake.com/digital-distribution-comparison/
It’s long, but there are a lot of options, and Ari goes into detail on each one.

Re: Tunecore RS offer
TuneCore is the Reason+ of distribution services. You have to keep paying for your music to stay available.
The best service I’ve found is Soundrop. It’s $0.99 per track + 15% cut, and your music stays up forever.

Re: Synapse Antidote is 65% off!
This synth is a must-have in everyone's rack! I use it more than Dune 3! So immediate, easy and great sounding. This is exactly what I love about Antidote. Being one of the older REs, it's more limited, but it feels like Synapse set out to make their vision of what the best synth within those limit...

Re: Unique/creative synths
I just took delivery of (and haven't yet unboxed) an Elektron Model:Cycles. What drew me to it is that it's an FM synth that doesn't act like an FM synth: instead, it has six "machines" that are basically synth engines built out of FM routing, almost like if a sound designer wired up six unique Comb...

Re: Would you be interested in a hosting site for Combinator patches?
I hope so too  Yeah no doubt the plan is crystal clear - get rid of Authorizer and use Companion for everyone - it's a way better, more modern, better designed, more flexible and user-friendly product. There are a few barriers in the way of that, but we're workin' on em :) It would be fa...

Re: Last minute update advice?
I would actually consider your operating system as part of the equation. If you're on MacOS, there's a good chance you have a Retina Display, and your next Mac will almost certainly have an Apple Silicon CPU, both big selling points (current and roadmap) of Reason 12. Conversely, if you're on Window...

Re: Increased fan noise with Reason 12?
So the knobs´ shadows for example are merely prerendered textures? Yes and no. Being GPU-accelerated, it's like a 3D engine in that it's doing the same thing a 3D engine would: using hardware acceleration to push textured triangles to the screen. That's where the similarities end, though. The trian...

Re: Increased fan noise with Reason 12?
As far as I remember it´s a 3D engine rendering the devices in RT, thus not only static images like a texture. Yeah, I was thinking the GPU fan might be kicking in. But, to be honest, it shouldn't be that heavy on graphics, as it's really just (mostly) high def static images that are being rendered...

Re: Youtuber tries Reason 12 for the first time and tries to make acid techno
Yeah not bad what he came up with with a Monotone Bass sounded pretty good but my initial thought for an acid bass line was SubTractor. I've also never thought of using that randomize pattern thing on the Matrix. I thought he was going to pull up Audio Realism’s ABL3. I guess he’s not discovered Ra...

Re: New Pricing for Reason 12 - Upgrades now 199 from 129
As for DAWs - there's only so many groundbreaking features they can introduce before it becomes routine maintenance. I would have to disagree with this. I can understand how it might feel this way right now, especially given the lackluster updates of other major DAWs this year (Ableton Live 11, Bit...

Thanks Stephen! Tiered pricing for Reason+ is absolutely on our radar, just still working through all the different permeations and possibilities. Hi James, thought I'd chime in here regarding tiered pricing. I think getting rid of the Suite option was a mistake. I had R11 Suite and would've gladly...

Re: New Pricing for Reason 12 - Upgrades now 199 from 129
I would gladly pay $200 for an upgrade if it had a ton of new features and usable devices. A much bigger upgrade than usual. However we can already see what R12 is going to bring once the features have been more developed. It does not excite me and does not look very promising for the future if tha...
