Re: Reason made it back to the Mastering Chain!
For those that may be interested in this technique and actually discussing the pros and cons, I got the idea for this type of parallel mastering technique from a Fabfilter Tutorial. Thought it was pretty cool to use it in Reason (same basic concept...different tools). Here is a link to the video htt...
Yes i read it. Meters can be great of course. Our ears are non lineair so... :)
Cool. So I assume that you A. Don't see a problem with the setup (except for using meters and curves as visual cues?) B. Don't hear annoying artifacts of the processing that could be attributed to this s...

Re: Reason made it back to the Mastering Chain!
A spectrum analyser can not show the subtle difference your ears can tell you. For many things a spectrum analyser is great but to compare characteristics on a busy mix, it would tell you nothing, only on a very non-detailed level. Btw Audiomatic is nothing but a nice combination of Reason's build-...

Re: Reason made it back to the Mastering Chain!
The question that keep going through my head is, does it sound anything like your reference material? Sorry about that! The reference song is 'Everlong' by Foo Fighters. I mixed my loudest sections along the curve of the Chorus in that track. The frequency response is similar, but of course that so...

Reason made it back to the Mastering Chain!
So tonight I had a specific problem with a mix and I wanted to experiment with Audiomatic to address it. Basically I have an instrumental rock song and a reference track setup in my Reaper mastering session (Reaper is also my rewire host). I just couldn't get the curve where I wanted it in compariso...

Re: Fingerprint EQ needed
A trick that may be an easier path for a Reason device: Overlaying spectrums. Maybe have that ability on the Master spectrum display? I call it 'mixing into the curve' and I do this using rewire. I rewire to Reaper and run Pro-Q2. In Pro-Q2 I sidechain the reference commercial track. That spectrum i...

Yeah, he's a very good vocalist! So, you hire him to sing or is he part of a collaboration? You mentioned missing the Line 6 stuff...you're upgrading to 9? I'm pretty sure that you can have both 8 and 9 on your system without messing around with Preference files and baloney...although not sure abou...

Re: (Epic Rock w/A-List Samples) Hope is Dust
@decibel The song is definitely a product of my influences musically and has a familiar structure. Thanks for listening and commenting. @zac and @zabbone Thanks guys! I'm doing the whole one song a month thing. Hopefully I can keep it going. @stratatonic Thanks for the heads up on the snare. I was a...

(Epic Rock w/A-List Samples) Hope is Dust
This song was missing something and then came A-List Power Drummer. I layered in an A-List Snare (no room/ohs) and Kick (during chorus / room only). Love this RE because it works as an expansion to my Ryan Greene ALT Drums refill. The mix is still a work in progress. Here is a list of Reason devices...

Re: The Mace Professional Compressor - in the shop
All this talk on how it looks is generating a lot of interest in the actual unit (which everyone that owns it praises how it sounds). So batch on! Hopefully it's making Lab One some money to IMPROVE and DEVELOP new REs.

Re: (Alt-Rock)Sink/Slippery
Damn! Nice work. Guitar tones are F*ing SWEEET. Slippery is pro. All around great song. Love the break. But I think I like Sink better....mainly because I'm into the twist in the vocals. This is great stuff. Playlist worthy.

Yes! Nicely done. Maybe a dip in the 10k range on the cymbals....but other than that no complaints. The guitar tone is SWEEET!

Re: The Mace Professional Compressor - in the shop
Huge fan of this compressor, which I think is more of a 'tone box'. I'm sure someone will prove me wrong with a schematic ( ) but it has a sound, imo. Versatile....but man does it make my eyes hurt!

Re: Duplicate Marshall Stack Drive Sound? (guitarists!)
I am working on my Rockmen ReFill. It uses a custom amp simulation I have build myself. No impulse responses but only filters/eq, compression and several saturation stages. I am also including effect units which you can put before or after the AMP. It will be available on Monday the 20th if all goe...
