Does anyone here produce using only headphones?

I have no studio monitors but would like to get some but unfortunately my living arrangements prevent me from ever blasting them :puf_unhappy: .

So who else uses just headphones and what do you do to get the most out of it? I just do everything by ear, there is no real method to how I do it.

Re: *Updated* POLL: What's the Main Thing Keeping You From Working in Reason 100%

My reason is that I do post-production in Logic out of habit. I'm now exploring that side with Reason to see how far I can go... but even with Logic my post-production skills are very limited. It's basically just to get a semi-OK sound out for soundcloud/youtube.

Pretty sweet track. I'd like to give writing dnb a go again some time. I find it the most challenging out of most electronic genres. That is, for me.

Re: (Melodic Trance) The End

Lovely melodies there, apt for the sub-genre. I'd like to know too. Which synths were used and which drum refills? I'm still looking for decent drum refills. Stuff I'd used for either trance or "cinematic".

Re: Reason doesn't use hyperthreading, new pc will be an i5

It all depends on your needs. A modern i5 is a hell of a lot better than an i5 from a few years ago. Exactly ! Also, even today there isn't a AMD cpu which comes close to any good intel i5 single core benchmark scores. Great idea to shut off HT in bios, I'll test that soon, thanks. Please tell me h...

Re: Reason doesn't use hyperthreading, new pc will be an i5

I use OS X and can easily turn it on and off with a click. I'm not sure if the equivalent exists for PC. But for real-time playback for composition it has saved me the hassle of bounce downs because of stuttering. It's more of an ad-hoc fix for me for now, until I can budget for a new computer. Anyo...

I had issues with playback until I just turned off hyperthreading then. Now everything is running smoothly. :D

Re: (trance) Fragmented

I liked how it started out. The transition to the breakdown sounded a bt abrupt to me, but I'm really a fan of the minimalist approach during the breakdown, took me back to 2001-2002, some of my favorite years in the genre. After the breakdown though, it felt a bit too messy. The melodic/prog mix c...

(trance) Fragmented

Started off as uplifting but then drifted towards progressive, which I mostly write.

I used Blamsoft expanse heavily and also Synapse antidote.

Tell me what you think!
