My apologies.

Re: Cloud based backup for Reason files advice

Thanks for the info. What I did with Google Drive is make a folder specifically for it. I have my files on my HDD, but the more important ones also get dropped into this extra folder and therefore backed up on the cloud. Does this not seem like a good solution? It seems OK at face value but I've ne...

Re: Cloud based backup for Reason files advice

Dropbox and Google Drive are not backup systems. They are apps for syncing files. If you delete a file from your machine, it will be synced and deleted from their servers. This is not a safe way to backup. You can enable history in Dropbox for a price and I imagine Drive has something similar, but ...

Re: Working with 4k and RSN10

So how do you guys handle the tiny GUI within Reason on a 4k monitor?? You need to get good at squinting. It's a total joke I'm afraid. TLDR they have completely ignored any updates to the graphics engine since it was released. Where other DAWs have spent time updating their graphics for modern sys...

Re: How do you guys feel about Reason getting rewritten on 11?

I think it's showing its age pretty badly. This happens to all long-running software projects eventually. It is a testament to how well put together it was that it has made it so far, but it looks so dated now. And I think their inability to really finish any features - VST support, theming etc is i...

Re: Reason 1.0 vs 10.0 - visual comparison

I'm only guessing that they had to prioritize what was more important: actual core feature improvements or taking the time needed to do the rack and mixer.
Or doing neither of those things and giving us some romplers.

Re: "Accuracy" of automation in Reason?

@Selig Thanks. I guess the filter wasn't the best example due to its relationship to pitch. So what about in the case of the envelopes which are also limited to 127 steps plus zero? Are you saying that an LFO for example could set the attack value to a much greater number of values than 127, whilst ...

Re: "Accuracy" of automation in Reason?

I'm confused. If I (for example) grab the freq slider on a Subtractor and move it, are there actually only 127 possible values? Or are there actually vastly more, but the display is just showing them as 0–127. If the answer is the former and given the huge number-space of 16bit, why are there only 1...

Re: "Accuracy" of automation in Reason?

I've been meaning to post about this for a while. Why is it that the controls in Reason offer such low-resolution? For some reason I've really been noticing this a lot of late. Lots of cases when tweaking and I can clearly hear the change in sound for every step. Maybe it's because I've picked up so...

The Propellerhead shop is turning into the guy holding the 'Golf Sale' sign who has been standing outside Oxford Circus tube station for as long as I can remember. Also, I swear some REs have been on permanent sale now for 6 months.

The one that kills me every time is grabbing a cable, scrolling ... scrolling ... scrolling ... nearly there ... scrolling ... get to the combinator and realise I didn't open the programmer, so the CV ins aren't there. Try and drag onto the 'Open Programmer' button hoping this time it will work ... ...

Re: Ivy note cv same as Cv tuner ?

It's worth noting that if you are looking for a way to quantise CV signals, Robotic Bean's Step Note Recorder is actually by far the most flexible of the lot, though it isn't immediately obvious that this is one of its applications. You can play a custom note sequence into it (effectively stretchin...

Kill an LFO When Stopping Track

I'm working on some music driven by Lectric Pand's PSQ-1684. If you don't know the RE, at its basic level it is a pulse generator that can drive instruments rhythmically. By default it is synced to the transport, meaning when you press play on the track it starts and when you press stop, it stops. H...

Re: Effects as inserts vs. dragged after the instrument

I would:

- keep fx that are related to creating the sound in a combinator with the device(s) - you can then save everything as a patch
- keep fx that are related to the context of the song - treating it in the context of the song - as inserts in the channel.

Re: Sanity check my gain-staging approach?

I adjust the input gain on the audio interface in such a way as to get the peaks as close to my reference target of -12dBFS as possible, You should be recording audio at as high a level as possible (without clipping) to get the best signal possible (maximum info possible above the noise floor). Re: Reason 1.0 vs 10.0 - visual comparison

Don't get me started on the UI. I can't think of a single other app that has had so little work done on its UI in all that time. Seeing them side by side really illustrates how little effort has been put in. And no, that doesn't mean it's a great interface that has stood the test of time. It means i...

Props/Reason aren't on a "path" that really can be determined I agree that they aren't really sure what path they are on. A lot of their decisions recently betray blind panic rather than any kind of careful masterplan. It's obvious that they are grasping for more users, but the way they are going a...

Those are some heavy discounts on Reason. Smacks of desparation to me so soon after launch. At that price it's almost worth an upgrade.
