Re: Is modern music rubbish?

it's all subjective and relative.

does only matter if you like it as listener. or like it as a maker.

What if you would roadmap a song?

Put it all on Github, share all the ingredients in one folder. Chordschemes, samples, loops, recorded parts, mixer settings, all. And open source it so anyone can copy it, improve it and so on. Is that ever been done? I am fully aware of Creative Commons but I have not seen an open source roadmapped...

Re: Compressors. How many do you really need?

I am a big fan of RMS, variable-mu type compressors. Slow, like fader automation. Super smooth, almost unnoticeable. Often overlooked by many engineers imo. I would say the LA-2a falls into the "super smooth, almost unnoticeable" camp, but is far from slow. Would you agree, or are you talking about...

Weird music is interesting. Trying new things. Things we cannot relate to. We need to explore.

It falls under the copyright of the user. Website owners need to be very clear about what they can do with the user's content. When you click "I agree" what kind of rights do you think you still have once you use a service for 'free'? What kind of rights do you still have when you agree the terms o...

Re: Stop the censorship-machinery! Save the Internet!

I went online and saw my signature was gone. I don't remember removing it, and it's a word for word quote from a 'member. I didn't draw any conclusions... I just promptly put it back up. Have a nice day, Y'all! You do not own your words on a platform you did not create or maintain. They can do what...

Re: Have Daw's Reached Their Limit?

I think i need a new mobile phone 🤔🙄 Dude, Apples "Music Memos" app kills me. You just record yourself playing guitar and singing via the iPhone mic and bam if you want it puts a fitting drum and bass (!) track right to the tune with one button - 90% of the time they were spot on for me. yeah AI dr...

Re: COMBINATOR MKII (?!)

included metering, input and output. included more skin options (chosing all kinds of buttons and switched) and make it possible to close/lock the combinator so the combinator can be a sort of hidden source thing like a RE/IDT. this might mean interesting business for sound/patch designers like myse...

Re: Performance

Not sure I follow…sometimes I write sketches on piano without thinking of sound (unless I’m writing FOR piano). But the moment I begin arranging, which 99% of the time is when I’m writing, I’m thinking of sound. I would suggest that composers have pretty much ALWAYS thought of sound when composing....

Performance

If you are creating a performance, a recording, you are focussing on how it sounds. You might think of notes, of chords, of rhythm, on pathes, on compression, but mostly you are concerned about the result: how it sounds. Composition used to be thinking about notes and harmonies. But who's composing ...

Re: Softube vs Kuassa

I also made a couple of IRs which is nice. Blended a couple of the IRs I found only and reversed engineered the Line 6 models. But also bought some Celestions. Already way too much to choose from.

Re: Softube vs Kuassa

I like them both. Although I hate the overly compressed Rock setting of Amp (what were they thinking?). Vermillion and Creme I own as well as the very nice OD3603, DS3603 and FZ3603 Efektors. I didn’t bother getting the Dists. 30 odd happy years of sonic fuzz craziness and now I’m back to chorusy r...

Yes the SE is superb. I already had a 6s when it came out. My daughter bought one. Camera is the same (except for front camera). Text looked exactly the same as on my 6S. Small format. 100% good.

Apple is introducing a cheaper range within a couple of months I heard. Let's see...

Re: Have Daw's Reached Their Limit?

big thing is live playing. a start and stop DAW is not so interesting for many new musicians who simply want to create while the machine is "rolling".

master on headphones

I am totally into headphones (Sennheiser HD600 for the win!). And here's a guy professionally mastering on headphones called Glenn Schick:

Makes total sense to me.
