Re: Headphones for mixing and recording
Went for the Sony 7510's in the end. They seem to have a good range and perhaps ideal for learning the basics of mixing. Slight concern I don't have an audio interface with them, but sure it will be fine.

Re: Headphones for mixing and recording
I don't know whether I will, but if it is significant, then why choose ones with low ohm? The reason being, I have read (and as previously mentioned Im learning), that a low ohm can cause distortion when volume is raised. If Im mixing Id rather avoid that. If there is no real difference between the...

Re: Headphones for mixing and recording
Thanks, so I found these: Sony MDR7510 Headphone Type Dynamic, Closed Magnet Type Neodymium Driver Size 50.0mm Frequency Response 5-40kHz Impedance 24 Ohms Sensitivity108 dB/mW Only concern again is the low impedance. Apart from that these seem like a really good bet..? Again though...why is low im...

Re: Headphones for mixing and recording
I like semi open for extended headphone mixing. I use different closed headphones for recording though because of bleed. Speaking of Sennheiser, I've heard great things about the HD 280 Pro. Very affordable. Also a calibrated headphone for Waves NX if you use that. I'm the same... I use some old bu...

Re: Headphones for mixing and recording
So, Im just weighing things up for the final time, and I just have two final questions if anyone can help: 1. Will a focusrite solo audio interface be powerful enough for 250ohm headphones? 2. Most recommended headphones are less than 80ohm, is that hugely significant compared to freq range? thanks ...

Re: Headphones for mixing and recording
If you want a tad bit more bass the M40s come out a bit better. Some people have said they deliver a more flat response than the M30. I can tell you the M30s can get fatiguing though as everything is upfront. The response graph on this site pretty much sums up what I hear, but it’s not as practica ...

Re: Headphones for mixing and recording
Thanks guys
After reading quite a bit online, the Beyers seem like front runner.
I have been reading about the Sony MDR7506’s aswell but apparently they are not great for low end and more suited for vocals.
So at the mo it’s the DT880’s 250 with external soundcard, but still researching

Re: Headphones for mixing and recording

I’ve found a 600ohm version of the DT880, is that better than the 250ohm in terms of output quality?
I’m still learning so I’m not sure how ohm affects output quality...

Re: Headphones for mixing and recording
thanks for your reply im now deciding between, the DT770, DT880 or DT990. Im leaning more towards the DT880 as that Ive read has a more neutral sound which I think means that what Im listening to is closer to what Ive recorded, which for mixing and music production I would assume is better, but Im ...

Re: Headphones for mixing and recording
Ive had a few headphones recently , I can vouch for Beyer 250 or another headphones are the AKG 371 after a convo with a fellow forum member = both great headphones , I can also say that I had the mk2 271 recently but they don't come close to the others , also for giggles I got the BH 770 Behringer...

Re: Headphones for mixing and recording
Thanks guys I too am quite sold with the Beyers. The one question I have is for mixing: will the 250 ohm be a better option, I mean does the difference in ohm make a difference to the sound quality output? Ill only be using these headphones for music production, my Sennheiser and AirPods I use for l...

Headphones for mixing and recording
Hi guys I have had enough of my HD25 Sennhesiers for using with Reason, and am looking for new headphones. My budget isn't massive, around £100 but to my surprise there seems to be a few good choices, does anyone have experience or any advice regarding the headphones below: Grado SR80e AKG k271 Beye...

Re: Akai LPD8 disappointment
Have you checked the velocity settings in Kong? I actually missed this post, no I haven’t, would this make a difference? If so how would I change these? I’m very close to buying the Arturia Beatstep. It seems perfect for what I need. Good sensitivity, can tweak the sounds quite a bit and also has a...

Re: Akai LPD8 disappointment
At the risk of sounding like a stuck record, it doesn't need any hardware mods. It should just work. Try pointing it at a synth or piano or something that definitely responds to velocity. yeh tried all that, same result. Im looking at the step up - the MPD range. Apparently better response and velo...

Re: Akai LPD8 disappointment
I thought for the price I was getting a steal but with absolutely no pad sensitivity its getting returned. I had the same problem with my LPD8, but I found this 3-part tutorial, took the LPD8 apart as indicated, made the mods, and it works MUCH better now. Not for the faint of heart, and YMMV of co...

Re: Akai LPD8 disappointment
ah ok thanks the lpd8. it has no sensitivity meaning it doesn't matter how hard or how soft you press the pads, there's no real/significant change in velocity. That's what's confusing me. The LPD8 pads are velocity sensitive. They respond really well to different levels of being hit. What were you ...

Akai LPD8 disappointment
Hi guys I thought for the price I was getting a steal but with absolutely no pad sensitivity its getting returned. Im looking at other drum pads at the moment and the one that seems t come closest in that price range is the Arturia Beatstep. The main thing for me is pad sensitivity as I really like ...

Re: Locking midi tempo
Thanks guys great help I ended up the bouncing and disabling stretch method which has worked. However opening the other song file is also one way to do it, but this again would mean I would have to the above anyway. Would be cool if this was built in on midi but not sure if possible. Do other Daws h...

Re: Locking midi tempo
If you 'Bounce in place' it dosn't destroy or replace your original midi track ...just mutes it . You need an audio track to do what you want here so bounce it ...find tempo.... and then delete audio track again. Thanks for your replies guys Unfortunately the method above achieves the same outcome ...

Locking midi tempo
Hi guys I like to record my first midi track without using click tempo and any bar lines as a guide. I’ve discovered that i cannot lock the tempo of that track when using the tap function to find out the tempo of that track. I do not want to bounce to audio at this stage because it’s just a raw midi...

Ive gone to the M-Audio site, found the right driver but that driver is not compatible with my Mac OS (most recent version) Im at a bit of a loss ...

Re: Was the LX88+ ever fixed?
This is the response from Nektar, what do you guys think: “Hi there, There are no known issues with the velocity performance of black Vs white keys. Black keys are naturally smaller and lighter and as such take slightly less force to press down (this is the same as on an acoustic piano). I think the...

Was the LX88+ ever fixed?
Hi guys Ive been reading alot about the Nektar lx88+ and its issues with the velocity of the black keys being substantially higher than the white keys. From what Ive read, there was a driver released but there are mixed reviews as to how effective it was. Does anyone know if it worked or its current...
