Re: Empress Zoia, is it worthy?
The Zoia is a pretty fun and versatile way to design custom effects for your setup in a way that other hardware just can't. For example, I often run audio through multiple pathways using a variety of vibrato, amp simulation, delay, and reverb, to create a unique, degraded tone. And on top of that, y...

Re: Pls recommend synth to complement Peak!
I've had the Peak for some time and really liked it. Recently I picked up the Argon8 and Hydrasynth at the same time. After a trial period, I've sold the Argon8 and I also sold the Peak and have kept the Hydra. The Argon8 really didn't do much to me, and while the body was sturdily made, the knobs f...

Switching to a hardware setup is the most productive change I ever made for my music. If you think the Digitakt might work for you, I say just dive in!

Re: Akai announces new MPC ONE
I really didn't get on with the Akai Force when I had it, but despite being essentially the same OS, the workflow here seems much faster and better. I might give this one a shot.

Re: Introducing big, fat, warp drive POLY D
I like it when Behringer takes an existing design and expands upon it (e.g. the Deepmind). This seems fantastic for those of us who have yearned for a Model D and also paraphony.

Hah. I suppose I'm selective with my time? Or maybe I don't watch any TV? Thanks so much for the kind words!
Amazing!

Re: A very hardware album (with Reason recording, of course)
Awesome album dude. Some really nice progressions/melodies in there "On the last afternoon" is something else. Hey thanks so much! The Octatrack is a pretty amazing device. I often wonder if there were a way to tweak the Dr. Octorex formula to get to some of the performance capabilities of the Octa...

A very hardware album (with Reason recording, of course)
Hey, team ReasonTalk hardware folk, Happy to announce that I've released an album of live hardware jams. It's mainly focused around the Elektron boxes (Octatrack, Four, Rytm, Digitone, Heat, Monomachine, Machinedrum) but also some other great gear as well. I can truly say that after nine months of m...

Re: I finally did it. Purchased my first hardware synth.
I really love the drift and spread on the Deepmind 12, as well as modulating the effects through its LFOs. This thread has me feeling that I need to get back to this synth!

Great choice! Lots of depth to it, and any menu diving is actually quite quick and intuitive. Great sounding filter on it. Enjoy!

Re: New Roland Groove Box MC707
I actually almost like the fact that there's no song mode. It really pushes the idea that these are instruments meant to be played live. Yeah, I really don't care about song modes on any of my hardware; if I wanted to make a prefab song, I'd just do it in a DAW. What I love about hardware, and groo...

Re: New Roland Groove Box MC707
I don't plan on getting one, but the more I learn about the 707/101, the more I understand the appeal. Mostly positives I'm seeing. However, for long-form performance on a single box, 16 clips per track per project seems a little cramped for my personal taste, especially on the 101 with only 4 trac...

Re: New Roland Groove Box MC707
This has a lot of the immediacy and fun of the Circuit, and a lot of the depth of the Deluge, but with more tracks (than the Circuit), better and way more effects, easy on-board synth programming, inputs, stereo send and returns, more knob control for performance, and a bunch of performance-friendly...

Re: What do you think will be new in Reason 11?
Wow, this thread ran spectacularly off the rails. My best guess and my wildest guess, based on the fact that Reason updates often deliver something relatively unexpected with something expected: - The visual update that is so badly needed. - A second rack type! Hear me out: Matthias has mentioned mo...

Re: Sold my MPC Live and picked up an Elektron Digitakt
Can't wait to finally hear some of this altogether. In our ongoing symmetry, I actually sold my Akai Force and recently picked up the Analog Four MkII. If you like the Digitone and you like subtractive synths, you really, really ought to give it a spin, because man alive the thing sounds huge. I lik...

Re: Arturia MicroFreak
Hey, thanks both of you!
I’m finding I lean on the MF for higher, more twinkly stuff. It’s something about the filter that keeps veering me that way. I need to give it a proper spin in the bass and pads department. Anyone have any audio or video showing success in these departments?

Re: Elektron MK2s Octatrack, A4 A Rytm
So I picked up the Analog Four MkII after falling in love with the Digitone, especially as a way to carry around four different synth voices at the same time. And while I thought the Digitone sounded generally pretty good, well, the Analog Four MkII sounds absolutely phenomenal. It's certainly not t...

Re: Well, I went and did it. Just pulled the trigger on an Elektron Digitone
Did a live show last week as the "house DJ" (not a DJ, but there you go) for a regular event. I managed get enough material together to do the entire night (or at least my 2+ hours of it) with just the Digitone and my Circuit Mono Station. It turned out better than I could have hoped, and I ended u...
