Re: The Most Realistic orchestral sound( bar vst) for reason .
Agreed some Euphonic Strings patches are a bit iffy but it's totally worth it for the cellos basses and spiccatos! Also I quite like how they are generally brighter than a lot of other orchestra libraries.

Re: Turning off HyperThreading, less cpu usage
Oh yeah, good point, I talk about DSP as if it's cpu load. Either way, there's a definite performance improvement.
So what about the "multi-core audio" option - how to know whether this is helpful or not? I can't see any difference.

Turning off HyperThreading, less cpu usage
Wow. On my PC - i7-4790K (o/c'd to 4ghz) with 16gb RAM (Windows 10) - I have noticed in Reason 10 when I turn off the option in preferences "use hyper-threading audio rendering" there's a significant drop in cpu use on various VSTs, in particular Roland Jupiter 8 & Juno 106 which have gone from "com...

How to use external sound module with R10
How would something like a Roland SE-02 connect up to Reason 10 and 1 Midi Keyboard (Akai MPK) - i'm thinking more in terms of how i'd trigger the Roland from the Akai keyboard. Thx.

Can velocity send CV?
I was building a fun combinator where I wanted velocity to determine how open the LP cutoff filter is (on PMS-20 RE Filter) - is this possible and how?

Re: Bladerunner Brass Synth
Here's my lazy but somewhat useful response... start with any fat saw wave and shape appropriately. The real secret is adding subtle pitch variation and by that I mean very gently & slightly modulate the pitch.

Re: best synth bass vst?
Repro 1 is pretty hard to beat for thick analogue goodness but I also like Vacuum Pro (by Air) - something about it's sound that's really organic & soulful. (It's got 'age' and 'dust' knobs!). Trillian is an amazingly versatile tool. The synths on there are really nicely sampled (some rare & valuabl...

Re: Reason scans my 100s of VSTs each time it opens and takes forever
Hi Every time I open Reason it goes through the scanning of hundreds of my VSTs and takes five, six minutes to open. Is this something I can change? Thanks I have this problem on my laptop and an itchy 5400 rpm WD everytime I open the banks folder also, it takes forever... Upgrade HD to SDD is the ...

Re: Blamsoft and eXode present VK-2 Viking Synthesizer
VK-2 is a nice synth but not quite as good as The Legend - that sounds more powerful and real to me. I knew as soon as I started playing with it. I find Legend also a bit more straightforward for sound creation - perhaps more like using a hardware analogue synth. i do belive VK-2 has much more soni...

Looks interesting but not enough info! Is there a full rundown of all the patches anywhere? Any detail about the size of the sections? I can't imagine 700 combinators are all legitimately different patches.

Re: Review: KiloHearts Transient Shaper
Funny, I find the KiloHearts GUIs really dull and uninspiring.EnochLight wrote:I'd forgotten about DCAM. Still, I really like KiloHearts GUI/UX compared to DCAM. I'm a visual PM erson and KiloHearts offering helps a lot, IMHO. Still having a hard time deciding which one sounds better, though.

Re: Review: KiloHearts Transient Shaper
Really not a fan of kHz devices, can't think why the reviewer would say this sounds better than DCAM transient shaper. A bit more explanation would be useful.

Re: Takes lots of sonic space?
I love the sound of this one! Is it just me or does this take a lot of sonic space? Comparing for instance a "clean" saw wave (i.e. no filters, no fx) from Legend with one from e.g. Thor, I find the Legend wave sonically bigger. Is this because of more noise or inherent modulation (like oscillator ...

Thanks for the replies, that is helpful! Something is drawing me to the AT-4 though, as I have a feeling it's a bit more fun!? (in a less-is-more kind of way!?)

Which of the Kuassa Eve EQs should I go for?
I've been trialling the Eve EQ AT-1 4band EQ - I like it. I previously trialled the other 2 Eve EQs but have no recollection of them. My key aim is EQ'ing of individual tracks (main aim is to add character, warmth / bass / air etc.) rather than for mastering / eq of total mix. Which of the 3 Eve EQs...

Thanks for the replies, I got Euphonic, loving it, really thoughtfully done with all the layers and keyswitching. Just wish it had a solo violin!
