Re: DISTOVERCORE (Electronic hardcore)
https://soundcloud.com/cysys8993/distovercore Well, it's not officially done just yet. I'm currently seeking feedback focusing on the overall mix so I can take them into account when I start the mixing/mastering process in earnest. I don't know if anyone here are familiar with Bemani rhythm games, ...

Re: (Piano ballad) Everlasting Promise
It's an ok piece of music. The actual sound of the piano is a little thin and shrill. It sounds like an NN19 preset, with only one velocity on every key. Try the NNXT Grand piano preset. Also, yes it does sound just a little rushed. Slowing it down just a little bit will help add emotion. Also, don...

Anyhow here's the newly mixed version: https://soundcloud.com/cysys8993/everlasting-promise And for comparison, here's the original one: https://soundcloud.com/cysys8993/everlasting-promise-original-mix It seems to be 24+db too quiet. I will say that I still think that the M1 style piano with that ...

Re: (Piano ballad) Everlasting Promise
It is that very M1 sound, right down to the slapback echo - East 17 "It's Alright". If you want to warm this up then cut that echo and look to push the body of the instrument for character rather than cut. I don't hear sentimental here. Frustration or even anger maybe. Is it really a song, as there...

Reason lags real bad as I play tracks
Reason keeps lagging real bad when I play tracks. This is highly problematic when I just want to listen through a song I'm making. Here are my MacOS specs because this information is necessary. MacOS Mojave (Version 10.14.6) Processor: 2.6 GHz Intel Core i5 Memory: 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3 Graphics: Intel...

A sentimental piano track I made. I may have went a little too happy on the high end.

Re: Practice with Shreddage
How do I assign the RX2 slices as Redrum samples? Also I just got Shreddage 3 for free (thanks to you), now I'm having trouble trying to open it in Reason. Could use some help. Thanks. Shreddage 3 Free requires the full Kontakt version (5.7 or greater) so if you've only got Kontakt Player, it won't...

Re: Practice with Shreddage
I meant that the drums sounded a bit like a dated cheap general midi sound rather than something meaty and chunky that the genre of music you're doing calls for. If you can't afford Ryan Greene I would suggest finding some better samples in the Reason Factory Sound Bank. There are some RX2 files in...

Re: Practice with Shreddage
The whole mix needs some work: Pad/Synth - Too light in tone, try using a a Scream4 on Tube and then shape it with EQ so it's not too bassy but bolsters the mix better. Drums - try getting one of the Ryan Greene drums ReFills and use those samples instead, the drums you have sound like general midi...

Practice with Shreddage
Hi, I've been trying to practice on adding lead guitars to songs. But right now the result I got from this little practice loop sounds like crap and I want to do something about it. I know there's something missing about this. The certain quality it's lacking to meet professional standards. But I ca...

What were your first songs like?
Especially a question for those with at least a year of experience producing music, how do your first songs compare to what they sound like now?
Do you notice any significant improvement, for example, better mastering?

Re: Dynamic processing on drums separately or all at once?
Should I dynamically process drums separately or put all the drum sounds in one plugin and process them? I'm in favor of the latter because it saves me the trouble from having to put five Redrum plugins in one rack. Can't answer the question, but there are separate outs in the back of Redrum that y...

Is that the problem? I thought I could modify the timbres with the plugin alone when I purchased it but guess I was wrong.

Achieving desired timbre in Shreddage II
Hello, I just got Shreddage II but I've been unable to achieve the kind of realistic punk/heavy metal lead guitar sound I was hoping for. I tried searching tutorials myself but none of them were very relevant to my issue. (Skip to 0:47 to get the idea the kind of lead guitar sound I'm looking for) h...

Re: How do I record audio individually?
I don't quite understand--are you saying that your mic is picking up the faint treble-y sound of the music coming out of your headphones? Or are you saying that the audio output of your song is somehow getting piped in directly at full volume into the new track that you're recording? The wording yo...

How do I record audio individually?
Hi, I'm trying to record audio for another song of mine, but every time I do, the entire song itself is picked up by my cardioid condenser microphone as well, even if I set my audio settings so that there is only sound coming from my headphones and none from my speakers, obviously rendering my recor...

Why do some home studios have more than one MIDI keyboard?
I've seen some photos of home studios, and I'm wondering why some of them have multiple MIDI keyboards in their setups.
Isn't just one enough? I mean, what's the point of owning a bunch of extra cars in your garage? (aside from backup in case your current one breaks down)

How often is it appropriate to mix in mono?
I've heard a lot of experts in the field say that it's advised. But recently I tried this myself and the mix just sounded crappier than through the stereo output. So I don't quite fully understand what they're talking about. After doing some reading, I heard when the songs are best mixed in mono bec...
