Re: Weird one bar delay on audio

No, there is nothing added to the default master. It's really weird as the instrument tracks I've added all play immediately then the audio track with the stem comes in at one bar on (all the audio tracks I've copied the stems onto behave this way). I'm close to giving up on this TBH.

Re: Weird one bar delay on audio

Does the problem still occur if you import the stem into a new/blank project? If so, there may be some compatibility issue with the stem. Yes, that's exactly what I did. What is odd though is that if I start with a blank project and import the stems, the song plays corretcly, no delay. At some poin...

Weird one bar delay on audio

Hey all, I'm trying to work on a remix comp for Lorde's Homemade Dynamite (look up the comp on triple j unearthed), but I'm having a weird issue when I copy the stems over to an audio track lane, in that the audio will not start until one bar has passed. This makes editing and mixing virtually impos...

Re: Looking For Tips to Improve Piano Sounds (WIP Track welocmes Feedback and Advice)

Reverb for sure and a little delay can work wonders. I'd also suggest duplicating the track and changing the duplicate with some nice effects (just experiment) to provide some depth. I struggle with Piano as I don't like a lot of the standard piano sounds, but you can bring it to life fairly easily....

Re: DJ Shadow keys

Wow, thank you so much! As mentioned I had quite a lot of help along the way - glad you liked it. It seems that it takes some skill to play the E88 smoothly, I did a lot, a LOT of midi editing, but I really like the sounds you are getting especially towards the end there when you are combining the ...

A clean reinstall of reason 9 made the dsp bar normal again.
A bit off topic but nonetheless interesting!

Heavy reverb on saw waves also sounds good but you have to automate a mute/fade out at the end to keep it from ringing through the drop.
This is a great tip, applied and it definitely sounds nice. Thank you.

I usually take the lead synth and play a long note. Using filter and volume automation to sweep open the sound while the pitch is rising
Ah yes, I was missing that consistency in sound, now much improved, thank you.

Just drag the little handle at the right side of the clip:

Or automate the volume Fader on the Mixing Panel.

The Rise

I am currently working on developing a good rise before the 'drop' for a Drum n Bass track. I'm basically using some high sine tones and white noise along with an increasing tempo to the drum notes and bringing the volume and mod wheel up to create the rise. I'm interested in Reasonistas experience ...

Tribute to DJ Shadow and the genre - was fun to make. Small error in drums about a minute in which I'll fix eventually. Any tips, tricks, feedback always welcomed - thanks!

Re: DJ Shadow keys

So this is what I came up with - huge thanks to aeox whose Midi notes were slightly rearranged to make the main melody, and the effects chain closely followed to get that almost authentic 'feel'. I am 70% happy with the outcome, and had some fun making this one. Time to move onto a new genre ... ht...

Re: Authentic Sounding Bass Guitar emulation

Native Instrument's Scarbee Bass patches are brilliant. They insert slides and hammer ons based on what notes your playing and where they would be played on a real guitar. You can use keyswitches to select specific articulations if you like as well. I've not used the Kontakt Player or any NI stuff ...

Re: Authentic Sounding Bass Guitar emulation

Thanks aeox although that unit is a little pricey for my needs. I do like the look of the ReFill, I think I've looked at it once before and decided it's a 'save up for' but never saved enough! It's going on the list. Really do like the Ample Bass, I put it straight into the song I'm working on and i...

Authentic Sounding Bass Guitar emulation

I'm looking to get an authentic sounding bass guitar sound out of Reason. See Peking Duk's 'Fake Magic' as a perfect example, or for that matter any other indie rock song from the last 30 years or so for examples of a richer deeper sound rather than the heavy plucked style in the aforementioned. I d...

I'm sorry, I don't know what to do with that file - it opens as a VLC. Sorry to be a pain in the a*se! Once you extract the file from the .zip folder you drag it into the Reason sequencer. Hey that is pretty damn good! And can always edit midi haha! Depth and richness? Well, I think your effects chain has nailed it.
