Re: Most tactile controller
So it's taken me a while to come back around to this, but I've decided the Nektar P1 and had probably a dumb question. If you can't automate it within Reason, you're probably not able to automate it with a control surface right? Specifically I'm thinking about how there's some parameters you can't r...

Re: Most tactile controller
These look cool. How does mapping Reason parameters to the controller's knobs work? For example, if I use the MPD218 with Kong, would I be able to control the drum patches' macro parameter settings (pitch, decay, bus/aux sends, pan, tone, level)? I've only ever used keyboard MIDI controllers so this...

Most tactile controller
I'm looking for a MIDI controller that works well with Reason, especially for drums/percussion. I feel like to really have the most fun with Kong, NN-XT, and so on I need something very hands on, where I can twist and turn parameters spontaneously. I'm pretty familiar with programming patches and st...

Thor programming tricks
I only just now realized you can route the oscillators back into their own pitch or FM to get crazy results. I spend a lot of time making Thor instruments and was wondering if anyone else had atypical uses of the programmer to get fun results.

Re: Something I noticed about drum production...
The new bounce to track feature is awesome for this. Sometimes I'll come up with a MIDI sequence and immediately print it, then work with the audio samples. It's a nice way to work, already pretty familiar to those with live instrument recording experience. It's all in the mind, but for some reason ...

Re: Subtractor VCO to Thor Routing?
That is true. But I also have the same kind of setup running Sub's VCO into Thor.Benedict wrote:I would guess you may have both Thors inside a Combi and set to receive notes. In which case Thor #2 is not responding to Thor #1 but to the MIDI notes.
Thanks for bearing with me by the way.

Re: Subtractor VCO to Thor Routing?
See, that's what I thought at first, which is why I was a little surprised when I got it to work running Thor into another Thor. I can post that patch too if it would be helpful, but I'm basically running a Thor A's audio outputs into Thor B's audio inputs and programming those inputs to go to filte...

Re: Subtractor VCO to Thor Routing?
But if the audio outputs contain the summed voices of the Subtractor, wouldn't they carry the pitch information from the keyboard tracking too?selig wrote:You can only do this monophonically if I'm understanding you correctly. This is not due to CV but due to the audio outputs having all voices summed.

Subtractor VCO to Thor Routing?
I'd really like to use Subtractor's phase modulating VCO's with Thor's everything else. I've made patches routing a Thor's oscillators into another Thor for the same effect (to get 3 tonal VCOs and a Noise VCO into one Combi), but can't seem to figure it out with Subtractor. I'm getting signal but n...

Thanks to joeyluck I got mine. So far I like this thing a lot more than the MClass, though only while A/Bing on instruments and not in a full mix context.

Cakewalk CA-2A giveaway?
I downloaded their Command Center software and it says I successfully installed the CA-2A, but it's not appearing in Reason? Has anyone else downloaded it/having trouble with it?

I use the SSL master compressor set to limit but with a very high threshold. I also put a stereo imager combinator so that I can collapse to mono to check for phasing and whatnot.

Excellent explanation, thank you very much!
I got it for its spatial imaging but I'm really enjoying its character as a simple delay.

Chenille questions
I just got Chenille and I'm enjoying it, but have some questions. I've attached a screenshot of part of the manual I'm referencing. Screen Shot 2016-09-22 at 7.06.09 PM.png 1. First paragraph: There isn't any discussion in the manual at how they're calculating delay times using BBD stages and clock ...

Well I bought it, the hypersampled refill. I'm playing around mostly with the upright for now. Sounds pretty damn good, definitely better than the stock piano patches. I really like having all these mic options.

Re: End of summer sale?
I'm thinking about picking up the Chenille. For $20 and my recent obsession with meticulously modulated delay lines, I figure why not? Go for it! Highly recommended!! I'm looking at Republik, Cerberus and Battle Axe. Well, I'm making filthy heavily-aliasing stereo slapbacks within 5 minutes, so I c...

Re: Reason Hypersampled Pianos?
Reason pianos, like any piano sample set is always subject to taste. These are recorded to sound great in a mix, so playing them solo might sound a little odd if you're accustomed to a particular tone. The same samples are used in Radical Piano (currently on sale for a similar price), so check out ...

I was going to buy the Chenille RE but noticed a pretty great sale on this refill: https://shop.propellerheads.se/product/reason-pianos/
I use piano a lot. Is this sample set as great as the video boasts? What are your experiences?

Re: Unknown Waveforms and Values in Reason
I believe the LFO waveform of CF-101 is triangle. It can be chopped when the modulated delay value reaches its boundaries. The delay values for CF-101 can be calculated as: delay_in_ms = 1/28 + 3/19 * a, where 'a' is the delay automation value from 1 to 127. When a==0, the delay is exactly 5 audio ...
