Re: Billie Eilish: singing the "real" version of MJ's "Bad"
I’m currently obsessed with this 80s novelty Chipmunks album that someone has slowed down to where the vocals are natural. The way it completely recontextualises these happy pop tracks into huge mournful sludge, in the best possible way.

Re: YouTube | For the First Time, I'm SCARED of A.I. as a Music Producer
In the same way that when you mix all the paints together you get brown, there’s already a detectable style in each of the various AI “disciplines”. My suspicion is that this homogeneity/entropy will only continue, especially once it starts to really feed on itself, as you say. Ultimately it will re...

Re: Apple M2 Studio stupidly powerful, M3 will be ridiculous
It’s mainly about the extra ports, for me. I could outsource them to a hub, but by the time I’ve spec’d a Mac Mini up, I might as well have bought the base level Studio.

Re: Apple M2 Studio stupidly powerful, M3 will be ridiculous
I keep a little list on my notes app of which VSTs I have and like and use, so that when I replace my computer - or it suddenly dies - I don’t have to try and remember them all (good practice in general - M4L devices too). Given the like likelihood my next computer will be an Apple silicon Mac, I pu...

Re: Sigmund 2 from D16 is (finally) out
I got Sigmund 1 when D16 accidentally gave it away for free for a day or so that time. I like it for preset surfing but the interface was a bit of a beautiful mess, IMO. And WOW is it a CPU hog for a delay plugin! How’s version 2 for CPU use? If it’s the same or better, I’ll probably spend the $19, ...

Since 11 was a bit of a performance hog relative to 10, I’m reluctant to upgrade blind again. I think I’ll leave it and see how it’s doing in a year or so.

Re: Synplant 2 - Out now!
I've never managed to buy any Sonic Charge plugins because I think they're all just a bit too expensive. They always seem like one of those "if you priced it 30% lower you'd sell 100% more copies" companies - but I'm sure they know their business *shrug*

Re: Valhalla Delay bug?
You get this with some modes and eras if the feedback is higher. That track will have a constant level of noise tickling the bottom of the channel meter. Most modes are emulating machines with lots of self-noise. Try turning the feedback right down and seeing if that makes it go away.

I'm using milkcrates that I absconded with from a previous job. Free/cheap and does the trick. I mean, why spend money on something like this? https://static.grainger.com/rp/s/is/image/Grainger/10E133_AS01?$adapimg$&hei=804&wid=804 These should work great, though I’d probably zip tie them together ...

Re: Any one else tired of the excessive compressor pumping on Lo-Fi tracks
Music is just sounds doing rhythmical things, guys. You seem to be keeping a list of right and wrong rhythmical things. Strong "old man shakes fist at cloud" vibes in this thread. Feeling that a sound is overused is one thing, but I repeatedly come across this sentiment that pumping is just misuse o...

As a Subharmonicon owner, I always enjoy devices that decouple the note sequence from the gate/pulse sequence. There are some fun M4L devices in that area - glad to see this for Reason!

https://isotonikstudios.com/product/ded ... tiq-audio/ maybe investigate this too. I have it (and Sandman Pro!) but haven't really got deep with either one yet - both are very powerful and all of Unfiltered Audio's stuff is solid.
