Re: Is this as good as iZotope deals get?
Just had a look at that roadmap - looks to be clearly about a Traktor-as-a-service subscription model. This fits with the Chris Randall Twitter thread I mentioned here re. the FM8 deal, about the venture capital-owned new NI/Izotope/PA conglomerate extracting maximum money for minimum innovation goi...

There comes a time in a nerd's life where they must admit that they have enough delay plugins.
For me, that time has come.

Tokyo Dawn Records
D16 (I love their UI design, even though it's often pure UX chaos)
Unfiltered Audio (the only thing of theirs I have is Dent 2, but I love it and use it all the time. They just make fun stuff.)
U-He, of course, for being some of the granddaddies.

Re: Any comments for NI FM8 for 12 bucks?
FM8 is 15 years old and FM7 is 20 years old! I think for a 15 year old interface it's looking pretty good - just a bit small. ;) In particular, the implementation of the envelope designer was very forward-looking, and especially familiar to Reason users! I think the XY patch morphing is a great idea...

Re: Any comments for NI FM8 for 12 bucks?
There'd need to be mass layoffs for that though, right? Well, from the same Twitter thread: 'We've seen a couple rounds of layoffs already (hello, iZotope R&D department!) and I imagine this will only get deeper as the PE tries to get its investment back. (Not realizing that "new and shiny" is what...

Re: Any comments for NI FM8 for 12 bucks?
Intel Mac only - could be abandonware? Quite possibly, by the sounds of things. I saw a tweet from Chris Randall of Audio Damage yesterday, saying that NI, Izotope and Plugin Alliance are one conglomerate now: 'From an objective standpoint, it's going to be interesting to watch this NI/iZo/PA congl...

Re: MIDI controller for Minimoog Model D VSTs
I remember looking at a Prophet 5 one of these when I bought U-He's Repro. In this instance I would say it would be much more inspiring to just buy the Behringer, if you can bring yourself to give them your custom. If you want it to be hands on, might as well do it properly and allow yourself to spo...

Re: Reason 12 vs Ableton Live 11.1 update...Wow
I'm in a period of not playing with music and sound very much, but when I do Ableton is my DAW these days. Reason sometimes gets used as a plug-in. I'm pretty sure both Ableton and Reason have to work around a lot of legacy code. I think Bitwig was the result of some frustrated ex-Ableton engineers ...

FM8 has a great interface for exploring FM, a wealth of tutorials and knowledge, and at this price? Why wouldn't you?

Re: CLAP - Open Source Plugin Format
I think CLAP is not the best name - although one syllable Vs 4 is good - but I'm all for open source and all for bringing new formats that might help devs to help users. We can think about whether we re-buy plugins etc later. Don't worry about it. Just see what happens. (People's favourite DAWs and ...

Not familiar with the monitors mentioned, so I cannot comment in comparison, then like already posted above the Adams are quite suitable for listening aswell as for mixing. Just recommend at least checking them out. There´s merely the successor of the F7 being produced though and haven´t heard thos...

Re: Nobody talks about studio monitors here. What are you guys listening on?
This is my next big purchase so I've been researching hard. They'll be for listening more than making, and I don't want to be replacing or upgrading them. Just getting used to them for years and gradually tweaking their surroundings. I've narrowed it down to APS Klasiks or Focal Shape Twins (though ...

Re: How to record audio from audio interface using windows
You need a piece of free software called Voicemeeter banana mixer. And maybe a bit of perseverance/reading of the help section. Then you can set your computer's audio as an audio input visible in the mixer of Reason or any other DAW. It's possible to accidentally induce horrifying digital audio feed...

You could buy a Moog Matriarch for that price.
Or a Digitakt, a DFAM and a Grandmother *and still have change*.
Insane.

Batteries leaking or catching fire is a very low-likelihood risk. Smartphones are usually not on fire, and we all use them every day.
Lithium batteries getting tired and simply not working after a couple of years, on the other hand, happens all the time.

Just what I was going to say!
Remember the golden hi-fi rule - whatever your budget for the entire hi-fi setup, budget at least 10x that amount for cables.

As others have said, it's plain old confirmation bias and it's already well understood. You expect to experience a particular outcome, so you do. Much of the hi-fi industry is built on this.

I finally gave them their $60 the other day. Decided it was about time.
So far I use it exclusively for recording audio, either from external hardware or from YouTube etc. It loads so fast I don't have to wait for it.

Re: Elektron Syntakt
I have a Digitakt, and I can also attest that the terrifying Elektron workflow is actually not terrifying and is very nice.
Of the three -takt format boxes, the Syntakt actually looks like my least favourite so far, based on the videos I've watched. At the very least, I'd want a Digitakt beside it.
