Re: Layering Reverbs

It’s rare that I do so but it’s not abnormal. I’ve done that when one reverb gives me space and width but another gives me depth. I’ll also put reverbs in-line on the source track then feed that track to a bus <— that’s a trick of mine.

Re: They seem to really need the money: REASON 12 UPGRADE 60% OFF

Yeah well, the maths is pretty simply in this case. Everything that´s above 31$ you can buy via 29 forever everything below you can buy like it is or wait for a sale :-) The new plugins I went for are Shadow Hills Class A Compressor, LISA, AMEK 200 EQ and Sculpt that would have usually sum up to 14...

Re: They seem to really need the money: REASON 12 UPGRADE 60% OFF

What I don´t really get with Plugin Alliance´ sales model is, how they think someone might buy their still above 31$ plugins during the summersale while you can simply subsribe for a month with 29 forever (29,,99$) and receive a voucher that let´s you buy any of their plugins for 1$ leading to a su...

Re: They seem to really need the money: REASON 12 UPGRADE 60% OFF

If you want the best deals all the time then you're never going to buy anything new while waiting for the next deal to pop up. I've purchased rack extensions at full price that have been massively discounted a few months later Incorrect ... I buy new all the time and usually find sales and bargains...

Re: flattest studio monitors?

I have the super cubes  https://youtu.be/KEvVztTNp9M Nice. How's your experience with them? I love these things. Only way I'll part with them is if they still sell the walnut color finish. In my room they're not flat like my Opals are measuring, but ill be the first to admit resonances and...

Re: flattest studio monitors?

Pains me to say this (because I'm ukrainian), but the only flat response mixing monitors for that kind of money are made by the russians. The dmx "mix cubes" (not to be confused with shitcubes/avantones) have a very narrow sweet spot, so you'll have to sit perfectly in the middle, but they will giv...

Re: flattest studio monitors?

My first rhetorical question is why tf aren't all "studio monitors" and "studio headphones" flat to begin with?!? I've had a few different speakers, including Rokits and rn Yamaha Hs5. I guess I didn't research enough on the frequency response and believed the Yamaha hype. Yeah they sound good but ...

Re: Plugin Discounts - SSL Valentines Sale

I know that SSL is a VERY established and highly regarded hardware manufacturer, but I don't know much of them as a software maker. There are very few reviews of any of their plugins from major publications- or even popular YouTube channels. I suspect this might simply be because their regular pric...

Re: SSL Native Flexverb - PB sale ($29.99)

I like it but it has a more realistic metallic (like any SSL verb models I've used). Its a nice blending reverb lets say to put a vocalist in a room. Think sort of like nimbus but with eq and compression possibilities to shape it. I like it when I need something to have a different space than the re...

Re: Can I output Reason audio over a Zoom call?

I haven't messed with it yet, but there is "ZoomAudioDevice", which I think installs along with the Zoom app? I noticed it under Audio MIDI Setup on my mac and I've seen it as an option in Reason. It's 2 inputs/2 outputs. As mentioned, there are other solutions, but perhaps that will do the trick w...

Re: 808 bass/sub bass help.

TO be perfectly honest, the best thing you can do is match the timbre of the bass to your song as close as possible first. Many problems with 808s is that people cannot hear the sub region. The issue with subs is that many people want to play the fundamental of a sub frequency as loud as possible, ...

Re: "I use Reason" reaction

I think one cause of the unenthusiastic reactions to Reason has been the authorization system Propellerhead used to prevent piracy. Reason has basically been uncrackable for over a decade, whereas many of the other DAWs were easily cracked and shared. This allowed every broke 15-year-old to dip the...

Re: Any thoughts on stem mastering vs standard mastering?

The way I see it is, you need stem mastering when you need mastered stems. The only application where you require mastered stems, as far as I know (after seeing a very elaborate explanation by Junkie XL), is for big movie productions where the music gets mixed on the sound stage together with dialo...

Re: Any thoughts on stem mastering vs standard mastering?

The only gripe I have with the idea of stem mastering is that… it’s essentially impossible — unless you limit each group bus before the 2 mix and then apply a final limiter at the end. In other words, you have to do something pretty destructive to cause a shift in mentality and workflow to not call ...

Re: Red Rock Sound is having a sale

On the fence here... Has anyone tried their RE3Q eq? Does it curve like the original Mäag? And are there other EQs in the RE shop that have the 40khz air band? Compared to the Maag EQ4 plugin that Maag endorses from PA, its similar but not exact. But the differences are minute enough that it comple...

The setup: Dry signal runs through Another signal is tapped from the dry, run into a delay (say 10 - 24ms). The delayed signal ...

Honestly can't tell you. There's nothing to replace Reason's workflow so it literally comes down to what you're looking to get out of it . . . and then you're Windows only.
