Re: Reason EDM producers, how long to create a track?

I do mostly progressive house, too. Usually if I spend a few hours a day and hit it heavy on weekends, I can have an idea go from start to finish in 2-3 weeks. However lately I haven't had the luxury of that time so it takes a bit longer - plus I've been working on multiple tracks at once. I like to...

Re: Necessary Computer Specs to Avoid Overwhelming CPU

Xeon CPU with registred ECC RAM .. = stable taking a lot of cores is much better, because you don't need a fast Single Core Clock for Reason!! (3 GHz or more).. One more opinion, if you're still shopping. The absolute difference in computational power between 4th generation i7 and 6th generation i7...

Not sure, actually. I'm new to this and wanted to find something decent but not go all-out on every component. Is my hard drive fine, or would you strongly encourage an SSD HD?

Re: Necessary Computer Specs to Avoid Overwhelming CPU

Found this: http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/jul15/a ... e-0715.htm Seems to be a pretty solid and recent resource for CPU choice.

Re: PC Build from Scratch. How do the specs look for Reason?

Thanks guys! I'll consider all this info. Also, I found this http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/jul15/articles/cpu-performance-0715.htm Seems to be a fairly recent resource from Sound on Sound about which CPU works best for music production needs. Unfortunately, Reason is not mentioned. But we can get ...

The CPU might be a bit overkill, but it will last you for a very, very long time, regarding DSP based music production with Reason. :)
Well, that's something to consider. Thanks!

PC Build from Scratch. How do the specs look for Reason?

Hi everyone, I've spent quite a bit of time looking for a computer that will take a heavy CPU load because my current PC is very underwhelming. The current computer I have poops out on the R8 Benchmark file after a mere 2 seconds. It seems a lot of users get much farther. Anyway, here is a list of c...

Re: Necessary Computer Specs to Avoid Overwhelming CPU

Well, I put together a PC component build list and this is what I've come up with so far. Any tech savvy people may shed some light if certain parts are overkill - or underkill I guess. CPU: Intel Core i7-4790K 4.0GHz Quad-Core Processor ($318.99 @ SuperBiiz) CPU Cooler: SilenX EFZ-92HA3 48.0 CFM Fl...

Re: Necessary Computer Specs to Avoid Overwhelming CPU

Hello James, welcome to the forum. You can find some performance related posts and also a benchmarking thread here. First run the benchmark, and compare your result with the others: http://reasontalk.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=7263897&hilit=benchmark http://reasontalk.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=7490631&h...

Re: Necessary Computer Specs to Avoid Overwhelming CPU

Thank you all for your help and input. I will try the benchmark tests this evening or tomorrow morning at some point. But I think I may need an upgrade. My tracks are quite complex and require a lot of CPU. Bouncing them constantly will hinder the songwriting process, I know. I'm at the point now wh...

Necessary Computer Specs to Avoid Overwhelming CPU

Hi All, I'm new to this forum, but I love everything I've ran into so far. I'm looking for some tips on what computer specs I'd need to have uninterrupted playback in Reason. I have a Windows 10, i5, 2.4GHz processor with 8 GB of Ram. I bought this computer specifically for production, but when the ...
