Re: Free spatializer plugins
The spatializer are very cool and helpful with placing sounds anywhere in the soundscape. Stage is a mix fattner/blur type of unit. Really dislike the colour section on Stage. Couldn't find anything it made sound better to my ears (which aren't that great to begin with!). The ability to push the eff...

Thanks for the heads up on these. I was going to demo Stage...now I have something to shootout the plug and maybe keep money in my pocket!

Squashit multiband distortion
Every distortion/saturation plugin has it's place and I find something to love about most of them. But if you put me on the spot and made choose just one....it would be Squashit. I like to use it to drive the 200-2k range after scooping mids...or making reverb/fx returns fuzzy. After a year or so of...

Macbook Pro user here and I held off upgrading to 9.5 because it did not support hyperthreading. 9.5.1 upgrade made this an instant buy. Thanks Props!

Re: Best Tape Saturation Plug-in (Waves or other), Console
All the stuff listed on this link is free (supported by Patreon). The Airwindows 'Iron Oxide Classic' is a cleaner tape sim and 'Iron Oxide 5' is dirty with a lot of character. For a full 'analog' experience with Airwindows use the free 'Console 4' / 'Busscolors' / 'Iron Oxide Classic' or version 5....

Re: (experimental progressive pop metal)Donatu
I love how the vocals sound like an instrument until they get aggressive later in the track. IMO, the upfront presence of the beat is what is kinda eating at mix depth. When we mix our own music we want to 'hear' everything. But forget that a listener wants to be 'drawn' into the soundscape. I would...

No bigger influence on the music I try to create than Chris Cornell. Been listening to Euphoria Morning and King Animal all day....I feel like I neglected those 2 albums. RIP

Airwindows: This guy should work for Props. His plugs are 'by ear'. Zero fancy GUI-ness. Move the sliders until you get the sound you want. His latest is a free Tape sim. The link is in bold under the Youtube video preview screen. IronOxide5. https://www.gearslutz.com/board/new-product-alert/1152698...

Ignite Amps PTEq-X - very good Pultec emulation. Comparable with Nomad Factory or IK Multimedia. Free! https://static.kvraudio.com/i/b/pteq-x.jpg https://www.kvraudio.com/product/pteq-x-by-ignite-amps This one is great! I love using the dip on heavy guitars. It just smooths things out nicely in the...

Free VSTs that don't Suck!
I cannot wait to upgrade to 9.5. In the meantime I figure I would start a thread on FREE VSTs that don't suck: Plugin-Alliance have several freebies that are very useful and I use often: BX-subfilter https://www.plugin-alliance.com/en/products/bx_subfilter.html BX-RockRack (guitar amp sim): https://...

Re: Conversation about High End higher cost Rack extensions
I personally have no issue with rewire. Reason / Reaper is my setup. EMI is just another way to get 3rd party sounds into reason during the midi writing process.

Re: Conversation about High End higher cost Rack extensions
Kontakt runs in standalone and can be controlled/routed to be used in Reason via EMI (external Midi instrument) device. This lifts some of the limitations in Reason for 3rd party instruments. Routing is limited, but once you bounce the sound it's easy to mix per taste in Reason.

Re: Z Pack Drum Refill?
I don't know if anyone here followed through on requesting these samples as a refill....but if you did it worked! Here is the message I received from Circle Drums:
Hey there!
Thanks for the suggestion. I'm a big fan of Reason as well. We will put it in the next update!

Z Pack Drum Refill?
Would love for these guys to offer this sample pack as a refill. The sounds are so 'reason-y'. I guess I could just buy the sample pack and build my own kit in Kong or map out an NXXT....but they asked for suggested formats and I requested a refill. Check out the sounds and if you agree this would b...

Sennheiser HD 201 Pro. So awful they are good! Not sure how they keep a straight face with the 'Pro' tag but for me these shit cans are the NS 10s of headphones, in my opinion.

Excited to try these out. I used Fractal EQ on the 2-buss in recent mix and really liked the way it smoothly cleaned up the low mids.

Re: Fractal EQ
I am working on a production and placed this on the guitar buss with all dials at default. Nice and smooth 500hz dip and rounded top high mids. I actually was able to turn down the overall level of the buss because of the increased clarity. I tried to mimic the eq curve with a stock eq in Reaper and...
