Re: Complementary/alternative DAWs to Reason (for hardware sync, audio, new creative ideas)

Yes, and in Bitwig it's so easy to modulate modulators that modulate modulators that modulate synth parameters ad infinitum. Hey, thanks for the feedback! How have you found Bitwig for audio recording/editing and VST performance? I know virtually nothing about the program. I'll look into it now. Au...

I would have say bitwig too instead of live because of it's modulator system which allow lots of experimentations (isn't it what reason users love?).

I use Bitwig as my alternative DAW because of its modulator concept. "Phase 4" is an interesting new synth.

Re: Have Daw's Reached Their Limit?

I hope there's more coming. I think we're gonna see innovations in DAWs intelligently collaborating with the user, algorithmically doing more of the tedious busywork of sequencing and mixing, freeing us up to make broader brushstrokes in composing and picking colors and moods. e.g. RapidComposer ht...

Re: Have Daw's Reached Their Limit?

Take a look at Usine Hollyhook http://www.sensomusic.org/ or AudioMulc http://www.audiomulch.com/h to get an idea what might come next in more traditional DAWs like Reaon, Live, Logic or Reaper. Or use Max/MSP to code your own DAW with your own synths and VST support. If you like real livecoding, ch...

Hmm, I guess any connected cables would just have to move and stretch with it but, that's not impossible! Pretty neat idea tbh :)
Yes, cables also stretch while connecting. Seaparately scrollable lanes would make it easier to connect cables between lanes, especially on large racks.

Rack lanes scrolling separately

I think it would be an improvement being able to scroll independently the vertical rack lanes.
So e.g. I could have the left lane with my send and master FX alway stay the same whil scrolling through the right lane containing synths etc.

Re: How much you need to tweak to get your sounds match?

It's not about the individual sounds, it also depends on how they interact together. Which sound covers which frequency range and covers which other sound? This is the main-issue for me too. How to mix and make all the colors work/sound good together. :) My way is to cut/soften away frequencies tha...

Re: Versatile, low DSP audio loudness meter recommendation?

I tested all 3 and decided to go on the Flower Audio. Can you elaborate as to why? :) For me, at the end only the big right number in the display of the Flower Audio counts. I don't need something that looks like a volume meter and I don't need a graph either. And for working with reference tracks ...

Re: Spider Audio Split/Merge wish...

I found 3 different types of "wiring up" in 3 different pieces of software: Reason: exact one out-jack can be connected to exact one in-jack. VCV: one out-jack can be connected to multiple in-jacks. u-he Bazille: the jacks and cables are polyphonic depending on the number of played notes simultaneou...

Re: Easiest way to build an "always-on" sample-based noise generator in Reason?

My idea: put the sample in NN-19 with loop mode and use the free CV8X4 to set the gate CV input (set the first knob of the CV8X4 to maximum and connect the CV out of the first knob to the CV gate in on the NN-19). This should play the sample forever (not tested yet).

I would be interested too. I couldn't find a way to do it (except using a VST like NI Reaktor but that would not be simple and easy).

Re: Song information

This information is known as "metadata tags" and it cannot be added from Reason. Metadata on a WAV file isn't as widely supported as the tags used in other music file formats such as mp3 or flac. If you want to add tags to your WAV file you'll need to use third party software. I don't know if Audac...
