When to Rewire ... useful for MPE (e.g. Roli Seaboard) and microtonal tunings

The story so far: Last summer I planned to write an RE for advanced microtonal tunings (far beyond what MicroTuner by Ochen K. can do). Recently I bought Alt-Tuner by Tall Kite http://www.tallkite.com/alt-tuner.html and this plugin runs in Reaper and the output of this plugin is mutichannel MIDI (si...

Re: Grain & Europa - why as REs, why such limited "backside"

I think Propellerhead is actually focusing more on new customers and having tons of audio and CV ins and outs can be overwhelming for people who are new to Reason. Re: Grain & Europa - why as REs, why such limited "backside"

Possibly but I hope this is not the case. It’s one of Reason’s most unique and interesting features. It’s always been the case that you didn’t have to concern yourself with this feature, unless you wanted to, thanks to auto routing. But I was concerned when the Player devices were introduced (with ...

Re: Routing midi from VST to a Reason synth?

this is not possible if you are using VSTs inside Reason

but you can run the VST in a VST-host and use MIDI-loopback to access the MIDI output of the VST (or use Rewire instead)

For all who do not like Grain and/or Europa: there are several wavetable and graintable REs.

Re: Grain & Europa - why as REs, why such limited "backside"

Why Grain and Europa were developed as REs? Props have developed the RE SDK. So why shouldn't they use it for their own synths? I understand that, but it was probably possible to develop them with RE SDK and then 'wrap' them as a native devices like Thor, Maelstrom or Subtractor. Main benefit would...

As far as I know, audio processing of VSTs is done on the CPU, so a faster/better CPU should help.

Why these limited back sides? Maybe Props can tell us! For me this is just one reason to not upgrade to Reason 10.
