Re: Reason 10 license for sale.
Hi, I was just made aware that the price new is much lower at some retailers, and there was an upgrade offer recently, so if anyone is interested, please make an offer under the selling price and I'll consider it. THanks!

Re: Abelton Live. Suite (Max vs Reason)
MaxMSP's learning curve is quite steep, as opposed to Reason's patching functionality. In Max you can go beyond audio and CV routing. The integration, since this week, after Live 10 release, is supposedly better. I mention that because M4L has been a giant and fragile Frankenstein-like creature that...

+1 for Pulveriser. Not only the LFO freq goes really high, but you can modulate with external audio signals as well.

Re: Question to Selig on how EHX pedals work
Consider the 2 aspects of the signal: AMPLITUDE/VOLUME and FREQUENCY/PITCH. 1) For the first one, you need an envelope follower. In its simplest form, a Gate On/Off would work (Pulveriser, MClass Comp...). 2) For the second one, the trick I found to be most effective, is to roll off as many overtone...

Re: Play guitar as a Bass
Done it many times, and after some tone and/or pickup selection tweakings before recording, I got tracks that worked very well in the mix. *Just a curiosity: aside from pitching it down 1 octave, would playing/recording your bass lines at a slower speed, and then speeding it up to the required BPM a...

Re: "Vintage" Sampler
I always found the NN19 to be pretty good at doing that 80s sampler sound, by using just one sampeld note, played chromatically 1 or even 2 octaves lower than its original pitch. With the LO BW and Interpolation switches there are quite a few options.

Re: How come there aren't any tape emulations?
I understand you're looking for one unit to do the job, but in the meanwhile, I'd recommend tweaking with the individual elements that give that effect:
- Compression
- Saturation
- Filtering
- Pitch modulation
Plenty of options, even with stock devices!

Re: Hardware samplers
The SP-808 has been my first sampler/workstation. Loved it! The zips are a bit noisy. I remember they were already not so easy to find 15 years ago, and rather expensive.. Perhaps there are ways to use HD or SD? The effects are quite nice, and there's also a virtual analogue oscillator that can be s...

Re: Songwriting with Reason.
If your issue is how to add bits of recording non-linearly (in real time, in one take), then the answer lies in comping and/or recording on separate tracks using the same channel settings. Then, you can sort it all out later. Check out 'comping in Reason'.

Re: macOS: Fullscreen/Spaces/Dual Screen issue
Just to make sure I'll mention all the steps. Here's all working fine, with 2 full screens. 1) System preferences > Displays > Arrangement > make sure Displays are NOT mirrored. 2) Open Reason on the main display. 3) Detatch the window you wish to have on the other display and drag it there. 4) Clic...

Have you listened to Autechre?

Re: How do you make a matrix pattern sequencer start upon note trigger?
It seems Matrix's play is not open to CTL signals... So I can only think of using Thor's sequencer for that, by routing MIDI Key, Gate > Step Sequencer, Trig, making sure the sequencer is set to Repeat, 1-shot or Step.

Re: Octave up...down...
A SHIFT+up/down arrow shortcut, as I've found in some other DAWs, has been long requested and would be veeery welcome.
I personally would use it all the time.

Re: 27" monitor for Reason
32"@1440p here, and couldn't be happier. I've tried different options in the past, including 40"@4K, 21", 23", 27", dual monitor @1080p, but I prefer this setup much more because it's a good compromise between UI size, real estate and size of the screen itself (roughly the same width as my 4 octaves...
