Re: Anyone else use BFD3?
I received a response from FXpansion, and it looks like this is an issue that can't be fixed (at least not on FXpansion's end). Here's what the FXpansion rep said: This is a known issue and out of our control, unfortunately. The BFD3 transport engine has been developed in such a way that it isn't ab...

Anyone else use BFD3?
I have BFD3 and Reason 9.5, and I still can't get the two to sync together properly. When I hit "Play" in Reason, or if I scrub to a certain location in Reason's sequencer, BFD3 properly aligns to the correct location in its internal drum track sequencer (in the Groove Editor page). But BFD3 doesn't...

Re: Reason Pianos vs VST's
Reason Pianos and Radical Piano are pretty good sounding, but I think for the money you can get something "better" with VSTs. Waves' Grand Rhapsody is $29 right now; Pianoteq Stage is $129 (just a little more than you'd pay for Radical Pianos) and is one of the standard VST pianos. There are plenty ...

Re: Korg Gadget "Darwin" Vst/Crashes Reason
You should report this to bugs@propellerhead.se. I have a similar problem with Absynth, where dragging it on top of another device (to replace it) almost always crashes Reason. They promptly responded (about a day or two) saying that they were working on it. This may be a related issue.

Re: Stock Reason Instruments and Sound Quality for Newbees
If the stock (or HD Refills) pianos don't cut it, probably the next step would be to check out the Waves Grand Rhapsody VST, which is currently $29 and sounds very good to my ears (check out this YouTube Demo ). If you haven't yet, check out the free eXode - Massive Synthesis ReFill (link will promp...

Re: Any Highly recommended Free Online Piano lessons?
My personal recommendation is to start off not by trying to use YouTube to "learn how to play piano" (i.e. learning scales, theory, etc.) but to use YouTube to learn how to play songs that you like. You will figure out theory and chord shapes/fingerings (and develop your ear) just by the nature of p...

Re: Recommend a sound card!
I don't know if this would make any difference in your performance, but it's generally recommended that Windows musicians use the ASIO4ALL driver unless their audio interface (soundcard) provides its own ASIO driver: http://www.asio4all.com/ I haven't used Windows for a while, but it's possible that...

Re: Recommend a sound card!
That's not exactly true; I think with video cards, the CPU does "off-load" a lot of processing to the video card. However, with sound cards, that's not really the case; the sound card converts your microphones and guitars to digital data, and converts what is coming out of Reason to analog audio to ...

Re: Anyone made MPE work with Reason?
I haven't, but I think one way (if not the only way) you would do it is: 1) Create a Combinator with a mixer (or two, if you need to use all 16 channels) 2) Load 16 instances of Thor (or whatever synth you want to control) into the combinator 3) In the combinator's programmer, de-select the "Receive...

Re: Reason 7 l6.t Files
As far as I can tell, each patch has to be individually exported because they can't be dragged out of the soundbank. If you need all of them, it would most likely take less time for you to install Reason 7 and get them yourself than for someone who already has it installed to individually export all...

Re: Rate Reason 9.5
I give it an 8, because there's a whole class of VST instrument plugins (drum plugins: BFD, EZ Drummer, Studio Drummer) whose core drag-and-drop functionality doesn't really work with Reason's sequencer (it creates an ID8 track and changes your project's tempo to that of the MIDI clip). I would give...

Is there a better way for my iPad to tell Reason to change tempos?
I'm using my iPad to control certain things about my Reason live keyboard rig, and one of them is that I am using the MIDIFlow app to A) change the MIDI channel that my controllers are sending, for patch changes via Advanced MIDI Device, and B) send MIDI clock with tempo changes, so that patches wit...

Re: A list of broken VSTs (Vst2.4 and/or aax)
BFD3 and Studio Drummer don't allow for proper drag-and-drop of MIDI files from the plugin into the sequencer; Reason created an ID8 track and changes the project's tempo to whatever tempo is embedded in the MIDI clip. BFD3's internal sequencer does not follow Reason's, and does not even respond to ...

Re: Reason 9.5 Advanced tab in Preferences missing
I'm not sure about the advanced tab thing (my Preferences has an advanced tab with a VST path), but you have to set all of the VST screenshots yourself. When you open a VST, there is an icon called "Screenshot" which will define the thumbnail that shows up in the browser.

Re: Price Change Speculation
One way to look at it is: even if the worst case scenario is that they doubled the 7->10 upgrade price from $130 to $260ish, you are still paying the same amount by upgrading from 7->10 next year, as you would be by upgrading 7->9 now for $130, and from 9->10 at $130 (assuming they keep the same pri...

Re: midi cc mapping in reason
I don't think Reason can do this itself, but one thing you can do is use a MIDI utility like MIDIOX (PC) or MidiPipe (Mac). The MIDI utility accepts your WX-5 as input, and passes through everything except CC2, which is instead converted to aftertouch (or you can configure it to send both values). T...

Re: What am I missing out on with 44 khz?
Nothing, really. You lose out on some higher frequencies that most systems can't reproduce or can't be heard by the human ear theoretically. 44.1 kHz is CD quality, which means that it is much higher resolution than what you hear from YouTube/Spotify/etc. Generally speaking, if you record your maste...

Re: Are You Upgrading to 9.5 On It's Release? - POLL!
I'm on 6.5 but also use Pro Tools and Ableton. I'll probably wait until 10, especially if they add clip launching, ReWire Host capability, or a scalable GUI for high-res monitors. I'm still using it as an instrument rack, and still getting interesting sounds out of Subtractor, so I don't have a huge...

Re: F5 F6 F7 not working
Are you on Mac? You can fix this by going to System Preferences -> Keyboard -> Check "Use all F1, F2, etc. keys as standard function keys". Then, the F5 F6 F7 keys will work fine in Reason, and you'll only have to use the Fn keys if you want to use the Mac functions like screen brightness, keyboad b...

Re: Reason Essentials 9.2 license for 49 EUR/USD
I also don't follow. None of those four are methods to have a Reason sequencer track send MIDI out to a plugin host or to a hardware synth, which you said has been possible since Reason 1. ReWire only sends MIDI from some host into Reason, not the other way around; advanced MIDI module only sends MI...

midi out has been a thing since reason 1 [Started on 5 but read many manuals in spare time] Before 7 it was only rewire & the advanced midi module/midi yoke & ox method before emi. Re: POLL: What Version are you using in March 2017 ?
I'm still using Reason 6.5 because it's just become an instrument rack for my other software (Ableton, MainStage). Every time Reason updates, I take a look and say "hmm... not quite worth the upgrade yet." Maybe Reason 10 will change my mind? But as long as there's no updated Combinator (and/or abil...

I'm surprised that the latency is that bad - can you not go lower than 442 samples?
As a workaround - you can use your Focusrite's direct monitor switch to hear your voice with no latency: https://us.focusrite.com/answerbase/wha ... monitoring
