Re: Ekssperimental Sounds SPACEXPANDER - Spring Reverb
Thank you much! And yeah, the Teflon track is really nice. Very rhythmically stimulating, and those long delays and triggered/rolled things on his voice are cool. You are using all SoundToys delay on these tracks if I remember - is that correct? Not Reason's The Echo? Yeah that's true, I don't get ...

Re: Ekssperimental Sounds SPACEXPANDER - Spring Reverb
SpaceXpander is one of my faves too, sometimes I'll dubplicate the output of Echoboy and send the duplicate to spacexpander for that extra spaciousness Auryn, you DO love your echos and delays. I remember. And in fact, you are partially the reason I have gotten more into delays in general. When you...

Re: Ekssperimental Sounds SPACEXPANDER - Spring Reverb
Actually in RE land, I use Ekss FX3180 Spring Reverb way more than SpaceXpander. But it's as simple/bare bones as they come. Just level and mix, that's it. I almost got it, but I snoozed too long and missed the sale, plus I spent enough on other things (ES400 FM Synthesizer, Friktion, Efektor Bass ...

Re: (electronic/sample based/dunno really) Building a Land for Machines and Computers
first of all, nice sample picking. i wasnt sure what to make of this track for a long while, but in the end the overdrawn machinally stomping impacts convinced me that this is a succesful refreshment of the original's (which i don't know) social criticism but from an actually already computerized w...

Re: (Crusty Instrumental) Obduction
Strangers! Long time no see. I listened to this with interest, I'm not super big into heavy guitars but it sounds great and in particular I liked the part that starts at 0:58 where the time signature (or smth, I'm terrible with music theory I must confide) changes into an irregular loop. I still lik...

Long time no posting, but I've finished something https://soundcloud.com/user-502627405/the-swinging-particles-building-a-land-for-machines-computers?si=4ce93eae764b4e4587a71f9ad0ed6757&utm_source=clipboard&utm_medium=text&utm_campaign=social_sharing This track is based almost exclusively on samples...

Re: Why is no one interested in Song Challenges anymore?
As some people here may know I love the Song Challenges here at RT. It’s been my favorite part of the forum. Sadly I’ve noticed a clear trend. And that is for each year the engagement in these challenges has decreased A LOT. The overall pattern is the same whether there is a chance to win products ...

Re: Reason+ Sound Packs releases slowing down....
Seemed from the start to me that Reason+ subscribers would end up being inundated with hundreds of middling sound packs after a year or two. Unfortunately R+ also pretty much destroyed the market for 3rd party refills...

Re: Malström Tritone Patches
Yes I'm surprised myself. If you'd asked me a year ago if I would start making a bunch of patches and diving into synths I would say "No, that's not me". I can't say I'm making patches on any complicated level. I don't think I'm using any synths full potential. But I'm quite happy just to explore a...

Re: Malström Tritone Patches
Hah, you started patch designing! The Malstrom was basically my first love, I still really love the aggressive sounds you can make with the shaper, and some of the graintables are just zany in the way they respond (for example the analoguefeedback). I wish there was a modern version. Most modern syn...

Re: What's Happened To Songwriting
To me it seems that with the advent of rap and EDM in the 90ies as major aspects of popular music, the emphasis was just shifted from writing songs with verse/bridge/chorus type structure to a more freeform type of writing tracks, where rhythm and sound design (and for rap, well written lyrics) star...

Re: (Ambient) Travelers
Hey man, cool new tunes What I really like is how every track tells a story in it's arrangement, it's not just one long droning mush (in the way some ambient can be) but each track has different 'movements' with some percussive interpunction too. What synths did you use? And how did you create the r...

Re: What are some of the old/retro sounding REs?
the M-tron RE might scratch that itch oh, you already download that - well, give it a try! I don't think you're big into sampling, but otherwise I'd recommend going to a 2nd hand record shop or flea market and just grabbing some obscure vinyls from the 60ies/70ies or something. It's always hugely in...

you talk about transposing to a different octave, but normally a choir will sing chords i.e. different notes.

I enjoyed the track, gives off a Kompakt vibe to me. Seeing the German name makes me think you were aiming for something similar.

Combinator button naming issue
Whenever I delete the label on a combinator button, I find that later on I cannot click and type a new name because it seems the "label" itself has dissapeared. Anyone else have this problem or know how to fix?

Re: 12.2.4 Released
Not really, there are 100s of songs you could say the same about. This is an example of a song that improved much from jazz covering. Originally it was a pop song by Sonny & Cher, which sounded pretty dull, as well as its other covers. The Buddy Rich version made it a completely different song. It ...

Thank you for this! Super great feedback and information. Valuable to me and I appreciate it. I get what you are saying about Nostromo. I have other synths that end up feeling like one kind of sound and lose their uniqueness from lack of variability in the timbre of the sound. Interesting about PSQ...

Parsec: It's good but there are better, more versatile additive synthesizers in the reason roster IMHO. Forgot to mention Spectra, which is now free: https://www.reasonstudios.com/shop/rack-extension/spectra-additive-resynthesizer/ Good call, Spectra has a bit of learning curve but it is powerful a...

Re: New to Reason - which RE's and/or instruments for most fun, depth and useful experimentation?
It's a pity nobody recommended Zvork's Oberon synthesizer yet. If your music tends towards industrial, there isn't any synth that does metallic timbres quite like Oberon does them. It's also a synth that rewards experimentation. I made a refill for it a couple of years ago, I'll just drop the demo's...
