Re: Is Reason as clean as Record was (A Myth)

TBH, i'm pretty much the total newb when it gets to mixing and mastering. I feel like it might do with a bit more compression (or some EQ'ing, so it gets a bit more clarity?). I could be wrong though. Already sounds pretty good.

I'm just mastering my old ish (again) and this one is an old tune with my latest mixing/mastering skills: https://soundcloud.com/reflexion-x/avaravai Hey, that's not bad at all. Wonder why you're complaining really. :) Neat production too, even though it could do with a bit more punch, and "loudnes...

If you're looking for an emulation true and close to the real thing, you should be better off with either Legend, or Monark, than with Diva, because Diva only features certain aspects of the Minimoog, like an emulation of the oscillators, and the filter. Neither the parameter values, nor the envelop...

I'm surprised that some people think you can just take the wavetables, put it in another synth, and it will sound exactly the same. Well, firstly, there's the "sound engine", then there's "oversampling", and the filters, and envelopes of different synths are different too... Now, for an opinion, i ...

Re: Google Magenta: Music and Art Generation with Machine Intelligence

"Create art and music" is probably the wrong phrasing. Tailor art and music, on the basis of its programming is more like it. A machine, program, or computer cannot be creative, it can only calculate things based on its input. It's sort of the antithesis to what a human is like. And unless we fully ...

Not here to compare synths, but saw Subtractor mentioned... and I'm really looking forward to Aiyn Zahev's Subtractor ReFill  Do you know, that Aiyn Zahev is planning a Subtractor ReFill or was this a joke? If I remember correctly he learned synthesis on Subtractor. I didn't even know he...

what Serum and Spire have over those (and most other stock Reason synths) is their massive professionally designed 3rd party libraries. Full stop. There's no question. Funny thing is, i always judged Spire's factory soundbank by the first bank, because i'm not much of a preset guy, so, i usually pl...

Ya, no worries. :) I think the approach of Reason is still a thing which should make it different enough from other hosts to go that route, and more and more high quality RE's, or soundfills will come.

Sylenth can be compared to subtractor [based on using it that's basically what it is] No way! As much as I like Subtractor (it can be still considered a great synth after all these years) it's really different from Sylenth1, here's some *huge* differences: - 4 high quality stereo unison and antiali...

I disagree, but, ok, if we keep on discussing that, we'd probably be sitting here in months. :) Reason will have Spire soon, that alone will be kind of a game changer.

Sylenth can be compared to subtractor [based on using it that's basically what it is] Spire is coming to reason [but thor can do all of that] Serum [Again, waldorf blofeld wavetable exe/nn19/xt or table Osc RE can do that.] However it does make things a simpler & quicker process tooooo do that meth...

Re: Reason Sounds Sound Dated

Take Sylenth1 for example. Such a limited synth. So expensive for what it does, and there's loads of synths, which were released after it, which offer more functionality, and more bang for the buck. Yet for a whole set of musical sub genres (EDM), it is still THE go-to synth, simply because you can...

He surely won't say it sounds dated, rather that it's the top of the top, and that it isn't worth messing around with inferior gear. I won't say that that is always right, but, having been there (i tried about every freeware VSTi there is...), i can only say, after buying stuff which REALLY sounds g...

Ok, but, mind that it could be much easier, and quicker, to just go down the "sound good out of the box" route, which is, IMO, the main difference, if we're talking about instruments, or sounds which sound good out of the box, and the argument is brought up, that you can make everything sound good, ...

You know how to sound really modern? Learn your tools inside and out and use them creatively. I'm sorry, technology (Reason) is not your problem. Proper production, catchy melody, an ear for the choice of sounds, and reasonable skills to tailor music. With most bedroom/amateur production, at least one, if not all of these things, are missing.

Re: SERUM synthesizer

AFAIK, you can't computer infinite harmonics, so a high cut is always done. Should also be present in Thor, but, maybe it's at a higher frequency. What some synths also do, when they feature unison on oscillator level, is that there is a pitch dependant high cut. Urs from u-he explains it here: http...
