Re: New Pricing for Reason 12 - Upgrades now 199 from 129
[ You're lucky to be in such a position. With a collection of paid-for RE's, plus the bundle of Reason REs that came with R11Suite, you've got a ton of 'toys' that you can keep using as you join the exile to another DAW platform. For those without another DAW already, the prospect of moving on for ...

Re: New Pricing for Reason 12 - Upgrades now 199 from 129
With the sudden steep price increase, I'm officially done with investing my money in Reason. I spent a lot of money on REs and that's going to be it for me. With all the bugs in the new release, worsening performance with each release, lack of basic features found in most DAWs, implementing features...

Re: Doubled CPU cores, performance drops?
So, IMHO I think Reason needs to be rebuild from scratch with CPU usage in mind. Because, even with modern processors, you would want your DAW to use as little CPU as possible, so you can keep stacking FX, VST, VSTi, recordings, etc, as much as you prefer, right? As a matter of fact, I tried Reaper...

Re: Doubled CPU cores, performance drops?
Server CPUs are not well suited for real-time processing. More cores doesn't necessarily mean more better in all circumstances. Latency plays a really important role in CPU computational power, and I'm talking about CPU cache amount and fetches, the core cross-talk (more cores have to "talk" to each...

Re: Announcing Reason 11
I really don't get people when they say that they'll sell Reason to buy another DAW. The whole point of this update is to use Reason in another DAW. Why are they selling Reason then? Just buy the other DAW, update Reason and use it inside the DAW you prefer. Reason just became one of the most power...

Re: Announcing Reason 11
this perfectly sums up why this version rubs a lot of us the wrong way. Reason is a DAW first. it’s a plugin second. this upgrade telegraphs that they’re more interested in expanding its use as a plugin than they are in building out a mature, full-featured DAW. that’s very concerning to many of us....

Re: Announcing Reason 11
I'll be upgrading from Reason 9 so this update makes me happy. Totally get why people on Reason 10 find this disappointing, especially if it's the only DAW they use. Do what I do, don't upgrade and wait for the next version. Spend your money on something else, like plugins or a nice pair of boots, o...

Here's a list : Curved automation. Please, for the love of God, curved automation. The ability to put comments and personal notes in the track sequencer, a proper dedicated feature. Maybe add that function to the Rack when making crazy patches with the combi. I know there's a RE that does that, but ...

Be warned if someone try to sell you older Intel CPU. It is suggested that you disable HT. Which will cripple performance up to 40% ?!!!?!?! Any Intel CPU from 2008 to this day. Re: Intel chip massive security flaw
There are 2 exploits, called Meltdown and Spectre. Meltdown affects Intel only, and Spectre affects all CPUs including ARM architecture. That means your phone is also vulnerable to Spectre. Meltdown mostly affects virtual machines. If you don't know what that is, you will not be affected. Anyone wh...

Re: new pc, AMD A8 7650 cpu
The A series is based on the very old and shitty Bulldozer AMD architecture with a low-mid ranged graphics integrated into it. TO be completely honest, it won't be good at anything else other than office work and watching videos. On the upside, you didn't get the crappiest one.

Re: Why isn't remote override "per instrument"?
If you want to code a controller's knobs and faders per device in Reason, you'll have to edit your controller's remote codec in the Reason folder. Remote override is for assigning a knob/fader to a specific control on a specific device and freezing it for the project file. The knob/fader will stay f...

Re: Possible bug? Reason doesn't use all cores, but load metter is red.
This has been talked about in another thread. Reason doesn't use hyper-threading, thus uses only half of the logical cores (the cores you see in Windows). I'm sure they're optimizing the VST wrapper itself to increase performance that'll soon to be released, but there is still the hyper-threading is...

I would really appreciate a stress test to check CCX latency. It's the only thing that I need to know before jumping the gun.

no. i regret buying both the exciter and the "bass enhancer". if you want an excellent exciter i recommend the Relight Harmonic Exciter, that one is worth every penny. If you want bass enhancement put your money towards Kuassa EVE-MP5. To reiterate, i do not recommend either red rock product at all...

Re: To Turbo boost or not?
More RAM is always good, although not entirely necessary depending on what you want to do. For Reason and everyday use, 16Gb should be fine even for a couple of years. I bought 16Gb 6 years ago and didn't notice the need to upgrade even remotely for everyday use + audio production. But you don't ha...

Interesting, yeah I may try. It the Intel i5 7600 Kaby Lake chip. Can go up to 4.2 apparently. Looking at mother boards to go with it currently, ASUS most likely. Guess I just got to look at cooling. I'm thinking 16gig Corsair Vengeance 3000. 16 gig should be enough? More RAM is always good, althou...

Unless it's unstable or you have a shitty CPU cooler, do it. I have boosted my i7-2600K since the beginning from 3.4GHz to 3.8GHz. It's been 6 years and haven't got problems with it. I even once overclocked it to 4.3GHz but heated up my room far too much for my tastes.

Re: What Audio IO should i upgrade to
The interface does affect DSP loads, in terms of properly coded drivers. If the interface has poor drivers, your DSP load will suck. If DSP is a concern, don't look for the hardware itself but a company that implements and support proper drivers.
