Re: What makes Reason a great “song finisher”?

Totally agree on having it all visible. I took the Recording Revolution mixing course and it was very helpful, but the amount of mental modeling required in ProTools was shocking. Just sending a channel to an fx bus required creating a send along with a bus (or something) and then all the FX settin...

Re: R12, 16 months on, ... how are you all finding it?

Reason 12.5 has pretty much made Reason perfect for me with VST3 support (I'm on windows, so can totally understand the M1 support is still needed for Mac users) Overall, stability has remained good for me since upgrade to released 12.5. In-general, I get one crash every roughly ~6-12 months with Re...

Re: Kong vs Redrum vs Umpf.....your favorite and why?

I like Umpf + DrumSequencer.

The only thing I don't like about this is:
1) The names of each "slot" in DrumSequencer doesn't automatically pick-up the same names from the Umpf
2) The name "Umpf" :) It's silly!

Re: Reason Financials 2021

Is it possible that the revenue reduction is by design? I though when companies introduce subscription the whole point is to measure MAU (monthly users) and grow that. Even if you lose money.

Ie the goal is to build a base of addicted users with a lower price.

Anyway, just wondering

Re: “The Truth about Reason 12” new YouTube video from Kickback Couture

I sorta hope the next few years are cool innovations rather than just simple REs, so I get her point. Where I disagree a bit: I’ve wanted midi vst support too. When players first came out, I was annoyed because I thought “they’re forcing me to buy their midi players rather than just letting me use a...

Re: Is Kontakt 6 worth the money at half price?

If you want ready-made libraries, go for it - it has the most

But if you want to do tweaking, or create your own sounds, I personally don't like it. It's just too complex for my needs

Re: Are You Playing With Bass Line Generator Today?

The only thing I wish is that you could shirt the pattern left or right by some steps, instead of having to send the midi notes to track. I think I can see why they didn't do it (e.g. does this value get reset when you pick a different pattern? BUT, once you're manually editing the pattern manually...

Re: Are You Playing With Bass Line Generator Today?

I think the UI is excellent on this Player - Some really well-thought-out stuff (like the "randomize amount knob" that lets you select which part of the baseline to randomize is brilliant!) The only thing I wish is that you could shirt the pattern left or right by some steps, instead of having to se...

Combinator art?

I loved Ryan's Combinator Template art that he shared with us. I was wondering - has anyone started. putting together combinator backgrounds using the new background-sizes for VSTs? E.g. a background for PhasePlant, Serum, etc? Also, when trying to create my own (poorly), the one thing I wish I coul...

Re: Panning and bouncing

I think Benedict may be right, if you're using "bounce the mixer channels" I used that for quite a while, because I had my main speakers hooked up to the "control room" outputs in Reason. This let me control the volume using the control-volume knob But then, when I wanted to export, I didn't want to...

Re: Reason 12 has arrived

In the 20 years that I’ve been using Reason, I’ve never read the manual, and rarely refer to it. It’s the kind of software I’ve always been able to figure out on my own - or watch a YouTube video. Yes, that's one of the charms of Reason. I've referred to the manual a few times and I must say,...

Re: Reason Hypothesis #292

Interesting, but I don’t think you’re right. If some DAW company wanted to have a rack they would just make one, without having to incorporate Reason legacy tech like REs. Combinator2 is basically the ability to build a UX frontend for any combination of VSTs. That's a killer feature, that I don't ...

Reason Hypothesis #292

Ok, given what we saw in Reason12, here's my hypothesis: 1) Reason has strategically left "hosting VSTs" within Reason Rack out 2) VC is trying to shop reason around to the top-paying Daw 3) Top-paying Daw that buys Reason will get the deluxe "integrated rack", as the way you organize your rack of d...

Re: Reason 12 has arrived

Just installed R12 and played for a few hours. Here's my thoughts: I'm running two monitors at 1280x800, that's as high as my monitors go :). So the graphics update doesn't really matter for me much. But I can see how it's really important to others There are two things that I've been loving though:...

Re: Is Skeuomorphism Reason's Achilles Heel?

I like the Skeumorphism personally - it actually helps me learn new reason devices quicker, because I know the paradigm. But, it may be Reason's Achilles heel in a different way - It's probably boxed in the Reason development team, since if they did have an idea that may be BETTER than current desig...

Wish there were more people using Reason on YT. Many that you can find seem to be hiphop/trap/'making a beat' style stuff which isn't my bag. Re: Recording audio for a screenshare in Reason?

Unfortunately using ASIO is a direct link between your audio interface and Reason, so no other app can receive any audio data. I've been told using VoiceMeeter can provide a workaround by acting as the ASIO driver and routing the audio elsewhere by itself, but it's quite a brain bender to set up. T...

Recording audio for a screenshare in Reason?

Hi, I wanted to record a screenshare of me using Reason (Windows, ASIO audio drivers) The VIDEO recording is working just fine with XBox GameBar, but it looks like audio isn't being recorded (since I'm using ASIO drivers). My plan is to record the VIDEO portion using Gamebar, and then separately rec...

There's one thing I didn't understand (and maybe it's somewhere in this 50 page thread but I couldn't find it sorry :)) The blog says that if you're on the subscription you get features FIRST. I totally get that you'll get new REs first. And sound packs first. But does it mean that in the future so...
