Bring in Microsoft Clippy to help with tool tips for new users. Also clippy should pop up periodically asking if you need assistance with your mix.

Re: Ochen K appreciation
Even though Carve crashes every now and then, I still find myself using it in every project. Even when I could use FF Pro-Q3 to do the same thing (dynamic EQ ducking). Carve is just so quick and easy. Also, Repeat and Driver are both awesome as well.
+1 for the Ochen K. love.

Re: 3rd party M.Band comp in Reason
1. create an instance of Pro MB as an insert on your Lead Synth group channel 2. connect the "parallel out" on the back of the mix channel of your kick drum to "Optional Inputs" 3 and 4 on the back of Pro MB 3. in Pro MB select the low frequency band and engage the "Ext" button under the side chain ...

Re: how do you handle send-fx when bouncing stems (for collab)?
Instead of using the effect sends on the SSL mixer, create a parallel channel with the desired effect as an insert with wet/dry mix at 100% wet. Then mix the parallel fader in under the original track to taste. This way you have the option of exporting the parallel channel as it's own stem via the "...

Re: Reason 10.3 takes ages to open.
I have this problem but I don't have any Waves plug-ins installed... I recently deleted a bunch of unused plugins from my machine but that didn't seem to help much.

Noticing that I can now utilize stacks of UAD plugs with no problem. However, confirming the panning issue when using VST (stereo effect) on the master bus insert but only happens when panned hard left (100% plays back in mono) and hard right (100% crackles and pops and intermittently dr...

Re: Reason Needs Time Align
Also tried this free Lua script for Reaper but wasn't very satisfied with the result. I found the transient detection to be finicky and mostly inaccurate. Seemed like this would have been a good "free" alternative.

Re: Reason 10.3 public beta is open!
Will UAD plugins now run as they are intended (utilizing the the hardware DSP as opposed to internal CPU)? Theoretically, yes, any VST that needs to manage it’s own buffer in order to function should be able to work with the engine changes they described. This would include Overbridge and the like ...

Re: Polyphonic audio to midi
Not sure I follow what you mean here. They probably meant pitch edit? Note Edit? There's Slice Edit, Pitch Edit and Comp Edit, what's Note Edit? I meant "Pitch Edit". Apologies. This causes Reason to analyze the various note pitches within the clip. Then when you drag to a midi channel, the result ...

Re: Polyphonic audio to midi
If you open up the audio clip in "note edit" mode before dragging it to an instrument/MIDI track, Reason will do it's best interpretation of the audio clip and provide a polyphonic MIDI clip as a result. Is this what you are talking about?

But as far as midi maps go, can you explain that a little more? I'm on Mac, so go to /Libraries/Application Support/Propellerhead Software/Remote/Maps. Then you can find maps for some popular controllers, you can see control assign or even change it to make it more suitable for you. Any .remotemap ...

Re: Controller suggestions for use with Reason?
I did see the M-Audio Code soon to be released and it looks great. I like the fact that you can assign keys/controllers to ASCI key commands. Looks really slick. I guess my first M-Audio Oxygen controller left a bad taste in my mouth due to the cheap plastic build quality and rotary knobs that would...

Controller suggestions for use with Reason?
I am very interested in the Akai MPK249 for use with Reason. It seems to be the Cadillac of performance controllers at the moment. I really like the MPC style percussion pads with the note repeat functionality as well as the built in arpeggiator and also the assignable fader, rotary knob, button sec...

Great to hear. I've found James to be a great resource over the years. I think that I remember seeing a recent youtube video of him at NAMM representing Korg products. He was jamming with a bunch of the new little Volca series rhythm machines. Good to know that he is keeping busy.
