Re: Best Ring Mod in Reason?
What you're looking for is something that emulates Ring Mode not Ring Mod(ulation). There's a video on YouTube demoing the feature and it disables the SP1200's filter so you can hear all the digital noise. You need to be looking at bitcrushers. Having demoed a few I'd recommend the D16 one. I happe...

All fine here on a 5960x, it takes a while to load the 1st instance but i've got 3 heavy presets running with sequencers and buchla etc. and i can keep on adding instances. Which Reason version? It was fine with 9.5 and its fine with 10 as well. MSI x99a SLI Plus, 2 sticks of 16Gb DDR4 running at 2...

Re: Is my Balance interface dead/dying? :(
On windows 10 i've had the sample rate changing which changes the pitch of the audio, it seems its best to just use it with one application at a time. I've had stuttering audio with vlc and web browsers sometimes, but never with Reason

Re: Bitcoin mining
You need an Antminer S9 to make it worthwhile, but they are expensive and have a couple of months delivery time. If you want to "invest" in bitcoin, best to just stick the 3 grand straight in via bitbargain. I personally won't touch it, i remember when it first came out around 2007, i looked at the ...

Re: What kind of music listener are you?
Yes, this has always been important to me. My favourite albums are usually strong through-out with little to no filler. I can manage the odd filler track but think two in a row is too much. I still have some albums where I'll quite happily listen to the first 5 to 6 tracks (the first side) but quit...

Kind of rare to find a whole album where i like every song.
I tend to make playlists of what i like.

Yes, you can have an additional 8 cv controls on a device by using a combinator. (10 if you include the pitch bend and mod wheel)

Re: How About A Making Refill Standalone Extractor?
You can embed all the samples from a refill into a song file, so you don't need to have the original refill to open the song.
But yeah.. Having a better browser that takes into account refills with a fast search would be great.

Re: How do you guys feel about Reason getting rewritten on 11?
Record was a rewrite, which became Reason 6,7,8,9,10 etc. It was released on Sept 12 2009 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Record_(software) I think they spent over 5 years re-coding it. And remember, they had the first version of Reason around the time Rebirth was Released, it was only because they we...

Re: Propellerhead introduces Layers synth.
I love the basic samples, they all sound really great, so it *should* be awesome, but for me I'm really missing global controls. The beauty in Thor's Multi-oscillator architecture or the NNXT's ability to grab all samples is that I can apply the same Amp Envelope, Filter, and Filter Envelope settin...

Re: How Much C++ D'you Need to Know to Make An Re?
Learning C++ on its own, you might create a command line app that asks for your name and spits out Hello {your name} Its kind of useless because none of those paradigms are useful to dsp /RE / dsp development. Its not just the coding, there is a lot of math involved. There are specific tools to crea...

Re: Why do you use OctoRex?
I like to take the gate output on a drumloop and trigger a bass synth - just change the oscillator frequency to whatever you want. This triggers a bass note with the exact same rythym as your loop. Change the loop slot, the rythym changes with it!

Re: Favorite compression and/or dynamics Rack Extensions?
You can't go wrong with softube, though they are a little tricky to use for beginners.
Pulverizer is a great compressor based on the shure level-loc, its pretty easy to use if you just stick to the 1st 2 controls and ignore the rest.

Re: "Vintage" Sampler
The S1000 and S1100 both have 8-Point sinc interpolation. Basically means, throw in a low-bitrate or low-sample rate sound, or play the lower notes, it sounds a lot better without aliasing. http://martin78.com/samplers/akai-s1000-s1100/ I have an S1000 and a S1000PB (playback-only) they sound great ...

I have a Seaboard Rise 49
Its one thing recording mpe as midi data, its another editing it - its a nightmare, really.
You are best just recording the output of a synth directly and making your best performance.

Both of these require you run an application to interface between reason and the device. Its not just a simple lua script. I wouldn't expect to get the same experience as you would with the software that is intended for the device, whether maschine studio or ableton push 2, what you get is a hack th...

Here is a demo (retriggering resonans): 9TvyXPBi Using the echo with wobble and no feedback 100% wet as a tape effect. Modulate the lfo amount at key moments in the song for a k...
