Because I never have a need for 16-bit. I'm not saying it's bad or anything, but I personally never, ever have any need for it. So it would be nice to default to something I actually might use.

Default Bit Depth/Sample Rate for Export
I generally export my wave files as 24/48, maybe occasionally 24/44 or 24/96. But I never export as 16/44. Yet that is what Reason defaults to, and every time I restart the program I have to make sure I remember to change that during the export. Is there a way to change the default to be something I...

Convert Mix Channel to Bus?
You can even convert a bus channel to a normal mix channel by simply unassigning any tracks that are pointing to it. But once you do that, I don't see any way that you can use that channel as a bus channel again. The main reason I want to do this is to have my bus channels predefined in a template. ...

Re: 25 Cents Flat?
Thank you!
Based on the suggestions here, I've concluded that it must be a psychoacoustic issue, possibly combined with the attack of the notes pulling slightly sharp.

25 Cents Flat?
Recently I've been having an issue where I can have a guitar or bass guitar input, tuned with an electric tuner or with the built-in Reason tuner, playing a perfect E. The pitch editor shows it as a perfect E. But when I play a perfect E on a synth (e.g., a sawtooth on a Subtractor or Thor), the syn...

Re: What happened to the mixer?
new users are trying to figure out not just how to understand channel strips, but why mix channels appear in the rack. I think new users are supposed to focus on the sequencer and the SSL, and only go to the rack when they need to deal with settings and inserts. Then they can expand out from there ...

Re: What happened to the mixer?
Certainly not alone. I know that I was very confused by it when it first appeared. I had Record combined with Reason, so I had it when it first came out. It took some time before I completely understood the black magic behind it all.

Re: What happened to the mixer?
The windows can also be detached so that the mixer, the rack, and the sequencer can be navigated using Alt+Tab or, what is it on Mac, Cmd+Tab? That's generally how I do it. The main downside is that the mixer doesn't have the transport bar. You can also just detach one window and leave the others at...

Wave Forms Disappear in Sequencer When Zooming In
I couldn't find any discussion about this, which surprised me. Makes me wonder if I'm doing something wrong, rather than this being a Reason issue. I imported about 70+ wave files into a song to mix. Did a lot of work on it, then started zooming in on the wave forms in the sequencer to check for any...

Re: List of RE Compressor Types?
You should learn to make a decision by ear That's what I'm trying to do, but I don't know what to listen for. So I'm reading as much as I can about the different types. "Oh, this is what faster attack sounds like, this is what a smoother release sounds like, etc." In another thread, Giles mentioned...

Re: List of RE Compressor Types?
I understand that not all software compressors are modeled after vintage gear, but many clearly are. And for the ones that aren't, is there no classification for those? Then for those of us who are still learning, how can we decide when to use which one? If I have to resort to trial and error, then ...

List of RE Compressor Types?
Is there a list of which type of compression each device in Reason uses. Some are obvious (Softtube FET, and I assume Moo Tube is Variable-Mu), and my understanding is that the mixer, being modeled after the SSL, is all VCA. But most of the rest just give vague references to the "vintage" gear they ...

Beat Map Drum Fills
Playing some funky blues with Beat Map and Reason Drum Kits, I felt like it needed some fills. So with a little playing around, I came up with this, and the results are absolutely amazing: I added a CV8X4 CV Generator (Aftermath Audio) and a Spider CV Merger/Splitter. On the CV Generator, the first ...

Re: The Mace -- What Matters
Trying to corral a discussion into one topic alone is a waste of time, particularly when the topic you're trying to avoid is a legitimate one. GUI is part of a RE's design, whether it interests you or not. Anyway - your thread, good luck Wow, you people insist on being negative, don't you? God forb...

So you started a new thread because you waddled through the other thread and read the posts. If the gui doesnt make a difference in the development of a plug-in, then why is it such a big topic on the other thread? Also i have asked the same question as you many times and got this answer....."thats...

Traditional Dolby Surround sends out-of-phase material to the rear channel. Of course, this is completely incompatible with mono.

The Mace -- What Matters
I would like to see a discussion about this product based on things that matter (sound quality, DSP usage, etc.) so I can make an informed decision about what to look for during my trial of it. I can see the GUI for myself and don't really feel like wading through a bunch of pages on that topic, so ...

Re: Reason drops forum?
The complaints for Reason 8 were no greater in number than other versions. And yet, didn't the owner himself (or someone very high up, at least) come onto the forum and tell everyone to quit their batch' about R8? Wasn't that unprecedented move the first we heard about R8 being their best-selling v...

IMO, the biggest thing we lost was the specific RE discussions when each device first came out. That's when pros ...

Well, as I said it makes little difference to me. I want the rack and mixer tall, and the sequencer long, and I get that through full-screen windows.

Re: Option to rearrange windows/Mixer on bottom, etc
Unless of course you mean that the Sequencer benefits when everything is split horizontally, I get that. In my example arrangement I have the Browser collapsed, as the Rack and Sequencer become quite small when the Browser is open. However, I could certainly get away with seeing even less of the Mi...
