Re: Reason 12.5.3 Released — Audio resets on patch change, Master section automation bug fix

I'm kinda glad that I've stuck with R11 for this long. Reason 5 through to 11 were all rock solid with no show stopper bugs. Reason used to have just a handful of coders. These days the company has grown so much it seems like there's too many cooks in the kitchen and they're struggling to get on top...

Re: New DX7 emulation in the shop, a PX-7 alternative

hopefully it's the same person since they more or less lifted the PX7 interface intact. i actually like the PX7 interface and use it to load old DX7 patches on occaison but i thought it was overpriced at $99 and this seems overpriced at $89, especially given that dexed is out there for free and can...

Re: Who would you prefer to acquire Reason Studios?

Why are most people voting for an Apple buyout?

If Apple bought them they'd discontinue Reason and put all the features into Logic Pro. This is what they did when they bought Camel Audio and Redmatica.

Yamaha is the lesser evil. They pretty much let Steinberg run their business how they want with little interference.

What algorithm is this based on? Izotope RX, Steinberg Spectralayers and Acon Acoustica are all based on the open source Spleeter.

Re: Hardware vs Software

Neither is better than the other. In opinion workflow considerations matter more than sound quality. So choose whatever is more inspiring. Hardware can break the monotony of being in front of a computer screen for several hours. It's also fun to work using a different workflow that imposes hard limi...

Re: Softube gone from the shop?

I dont think they fully understood the RE market but Softube are amongst the best of the best at what they do. I shot their FET against a well regarded 1176 clone and it was pretty spot on. This was years ago before the rest of the industry had caught up. But I still rate their plugins higher than t...

I got the VST version of FET for $19 during the holiday sale. I love that compressor so much I couldn't live with just the RE.

Re: What is better about VST3?

No CPU wastes Perhaps, the biggest improvement of the VST3 plug-in is that it doesn’t waste CPU resources and only works when it detects the presence of an audio signal, unlike VST2, which remains active at all times. For users, this means an opportunity to use a bigger number of plug-ins without o...

Re: Reason Stock Sounds Valid Still?

The popularity of synthwave shows old sounds never really go away. Even 90's style jungle is getting popular. The instrument samples in the FSB are good starting points for recreating 90's style sampler patches.

Re: T2 Phaser - how to lock LFO phase ?

You could have sent a note to the developer but I don't think the company is still active as the website is AWOL. With a lot of Rack Extensions the developers have completely disappeared and there is no support. So if you discover a new bug no one will fix it.

Re: Reason Studios Black Friday Week 2022

Regarding that "existing users get penalized" thing: BF 2022 seems to be a tough year for existing users in general. Steinberg (Cubase) offers nothing, Presonus (Studio One) mainly lures new customers with rebates on full licenses or competitive crossgrades. Vote with your wallet. If they lose mone...

Re: Reason Studios Black Friday Week 2022

The Black Friday prices seem subpar this year. If I recall correctly I upgraded to Reason 11 suite for $90 in a previous year. I remember that sale they did a blow out at the discounters because R11 Suite was being discontinued. Reason Studios did a 60% off ($79.60) sale for R12 upgrades last summe...

Clank Metal Bass Patch for Europa (free)

A Europa wavetable patch I made to recreate the clanky metal bass tone. It's useful if you don't play bass and want a similar bass sound to use in your beats. The demo is the raw sound without external effects, alongside a drum loop and distorted guitar loop. The Dropbox link has the song file for t...

Re: Softube Amp Room anybody?

didn’t Softube do the amp sims in Reason too? those are kinda terrible—and I think they also did the ones in Ableton, which are also underwhelming. I’d be distrustful of Softube with amp sims at this point. too many other fantastic options out there these days. The Reason amps are mediocre. But Sof...

Re: Reason 12 with VST3 Beta has arrived

I don't have the time to properly participate in a beta test, but I admit I am curious to find out how Reason will handle sorting between versions of plugins where both VST2 and VST3 versions are installed. My guess is it will probably do what Cubase does. And leave it up to the user to disable plu...

Re: VST2 vs VST3. Which one is better?

With a well designed VST3 plugin the end users won't notice a difference. The issues with the format are on the development side. Developers have to use hacks to get features like midi learn to work for example. And from what I've seen alot of the impetus for CLAP comes from the dissatisfaction with...

Re: VST2 vs VST3. Which one is better?

VST2 is usually better. Only because the plugins tend to be less buggy as developers are much more familiar with the format. Developers also seem to dislike VST3 in general. Urs from U-he has a few comments on the KVR link below. It seems VST3 has event timing issues and lacks robust midi support. h...

Re: Mixing just with the SSL Channels

I was watching Andy Wallace on MWTM and he mixes entire songs on an SSL board with little or no outboard (apart from a few rack fx units like delays and reverb). So if he can deliver great mixes for Linkin Park and Nirvana using a minimalist approach there is no reason why you can't do the same in R...

Re: Reason 12.2.10 Release Notes

I have Arturia compressors that in VST 3 can accept sidechain input. It’s a feature I have used in Cubase that doesn’t work in Reason. By the sounds of it though they probably won’t implement that even when VST 3 does come along. I also have Halion 6 sampler , the audio input is via sidechain and I...
