Re: Pattern Mutator 1.0.1 update

I'm not sure why they decided to give it 99 max steps; it just doesn't make any sense to me. Maybe it was meant for waltz music? It finally dawned on me why 99 steps makes PERFECT sense... One word: 'triplets'. Let's assume you're working in four bar patterns in 16ths.... 64 steps. Now let's say yo...

Re: Algoritm or Resonans, which of them is the better deal?

They're both great synths. Resonans has a character all of its own, and produces sounds which you'd be hard pressed to create with anything else. However, in some ways I'd say it's more limited than Algoritm. That's definitely not a criticism of Resonans. It's a beautiful and unique synth. (In an id...

> I absolutely love Maia Orange Edition, and would recommend it highly Had to give it a try after reading this topic and holy crap yes, this a surprisingly good-sounding synth! Approx. 80% of the factory patches are extremely well made. This will be a keeper. No too keen on the original Maia though...

Re: Why Maia orange edition is less expensive than Maia 2 in the madness sales?

I'm not sure what the current prices are without, as I own both so can't see the figures without logging out, but my guess would be that any price discrepancy would be due to 'Maia 2' being a very recent paid update. (It has literally had a complete overhaul in the past month or so.) I absolutely lo...

Re: ScaleMatrix 1.2 and May Madness Deals - Tonicmint

Stunning work, Vil. For my money, Chordline and ScaleMatrix should be in everyone's toolkit. I've just been playing around with the 'curves' section in ScaleMatrix as a means of subtly beefing up saxophone parts, (with 'low probability' randomised additions of 5ths and 7ths etc, playing at staggered...

Re: Helium 2 Synth

Ahhhh... This might explain why my trial isn't working. Perhaps I downloaded it at just the wrong time, whilst you were 'between versions', Jason. I signed up for it on Monday morning, and although the DL seems to have worked smoothly (ie. approx 5Gb of SSD space has been eaten up during the install...

Re: BlueDepth / Epic Motion Reverb FX (by Turn2on)

Oh my giddy aunt. This one is incredible. Somehow I managed to miss it when it was released, but I've just run through a very rough EWI/saxophone track I recorded a couple of weeks ago with BlueDepth tacked on, and the results are absolutely astonishing. Even on its bare-bones default setting alone,...

Re: Strange issue with 'Helium' (DNA) trial

Cheers Davey. I suspected this might be the case, but it seems odd that I've never encountered it before now, which is why I was wondering if it was happening to anyone else... If so, that might point to a possible blip (either with this specific product, or with the store in general.) I'll try huma...

Strange issue with 'Helium' (DNA) trial

Hello chaps, Has anyone tried installing the trial version of DNA's Helium recently? I took out a trial around lunchtime today, but it simply isn't showing up amongst my rack extensions. My other three DNA Labs REs are there (including Glacius, which I bought this morning shortly before attempting t...

Re: JP Combo Continental/ Combo Compact question.

I think the word “percussion” was confusing me. :). Haha. Yes, I can see why. It doesn't help that (on the Compact) it's in EXACTLY the place where they used to put those cheesy little percussion machines: all those frantic Bossa Nova patterns and 'one finger chord' accompaniment. (All of which wer...

Re: JP Combo Continental/ Combo Compact question.

No regrets. On either of them. I have to admit, I'm really chuffed that you reminded me of their existence. I'd sort of forgotten I had the Combo Compact, but I had a proper play with it early this evening (for probably the first time since the week I bought it in 2014/15), and it's actually a lot ...

Re: JP Combo Continental/ Combo Compact question.

Can you explain for me though what those "percussion" buttons actually do? On the Combi Compact, the Percussion gives you a more staccato sound with an immediate decay. It's more noticeable on some voices than others, I guess. It's pretty clear on the Init patch. The three burgundy buttons (Percuss...

Re: Reason Support Bot 9000!!!

First time I saw it was around 5pm today. I tried to have a chat with it. Asked if it was any relation to Hal 9000, the psychopathic computer from 2001 A Space Odyssey. It neither confirmed nor denied that, which I found highly suspicious. After a prolonged exchange, it finally gave up on my query a...

Re: JP Combo Continental/ Combo Compact question.

Right. Now I need a partial capo .... This is the book you'll be wanting, if you venture down this route. 600 pages of mad inspiration. You won't believe the sounds you get out of such a simple concept. For an inveterate Cohenesque fingerpicker like me, it's like growing a bunch of extra fingers. h...

Re: JP Combo Continental/ Combo Compact question.

If the flute is as tricky as it looks (I wouldn't know - I've never played one), then you'd probably really love the EWI. It's very intuitive, and EXTREMELY forgiving to the point where even a numpty like me can convince himself he's a stone's throw away from being Charlie Parker within a matter of ...
