Re: Rack Extension vs VST plug-in prices
It's too bad the selling of VSTs in the Reason shop is no longer available, because if that were in place it might be a little more feasible for Reason Studios to help support an integrated crossgrade between RE and VST. Maybe they could bring it back with the exception that the selling of VSTs is ...

Re: Rack Extension vs VST plug-in prices
To answer the question though, could you not do a "crossgrade" fee if RE users want to grab the equivalent VST version? That way you could price RE a bit cheaper. Yes, that would be the ideal solution. The issue is just that we have no automated way of doing this. Maybe we can work out something wi...

Re: Rack Extension vs VST plug-in prices
The idea of the RE is great, but got stuck years ago. Complex devices like Dune cannot be done as RE. All Synapse RE can be installed with a press of a button and are working on all major platforms. All Synapse VSTs must be installed manually and registered manually, and please, do not create a App...

Re: Rack Extension vs VST plug-in prices
I've completely stopped buying REs so my preference would be the one you haven't offered: lower VST prices! Almost all developers have some or even all their plug-ins on sale right now. Some discounts I've seen are excessive, this does not look healthy. It may feel great to purchase a plug-in at 90...

Re: Rack Extension vs VST plug-in prices
If Dune would have been available as RE, I would have bought it as RE. It is based on an earlier framework that is incompatible with RE unfortunately, also its GUI is very complex. Otherwise we would have released an RE for sure. At some point we thought about some kind of a DUNE 3 RE player with m...

Re: Rack Extension vs VST plug-in prices
But I'm even happier to hear you're considering releasing future REs!!!!  Yes, our plug-ins currently in development are still compatible with the RE format. We created our VST<>RE framework around 2015 or so and have not changed that since. Of course REs require a bunch of changes re...

Rack Extension vs VST plug-in prices
Hi, I have a question to all Rack Extension fans, about pricing Rack Extensions vs their VST equivalents. Currently we employ the same price for our VST and REs, in order to enable free crossgrades between VST and RE. I was wondering whether it would make sense to give up on free crossgrades in the ...

Obsession:

For two reasons, the plugin as such, and secondly it is technically our best RE port (the UI was much more challenging to port than in other plugins)

Re: New RE "Obsession"
Here is the updated screen shot. I really need to be able to switch from LFO 1 and 2 lanes to fully utilize this synth from a hardware controller. You can remote-control LFO shape, just select Remote override from the main menu - it is just that custom controls don't have the right-click option. Ab...

Re: New RE "Obsession"
Well the LFO buttons on the left are only for editing. The left most buttons for each are for viewing the parameters for LFO 1 or 2 and the right buttons for each are for viewing/editing steps for step mode. So no need to automate those. Being able to automate the LFO Shape though could be handy. I...

Re: New RE "Obsession"
It would be cool though to have an RE that could replace the OP-X-Pro since the UI of that VST has super-jumpy knobs on my system. Tried to recreate one of the simpler brass patches on the Obsession (the 80s Brass III from the Borsetti patch collection) and it doesn't sound as good as the OPX, the ...

Re: Will Synapse's OB-Xa emulation 'OBSESSION' hit the RE universe?
Yes RE is coming, we expect it to be out a few weeks after the VST/AU/AAX versions. This is because we cannot do a final build before having the factory library ready, and once we do, the RE still needs to pass through the extensive RS testing program, in addition to our own beta testing. The RE has...

Re: PH makes subscriptions?
And Adobe are making a ton of money using this model. Hence every other software company, and their new private equity backers, must be looking if it could work for them. There must be a reason it works for Adobe. I presume that their products were just too expensive for hobbyists back then. Now ev...

The demo movie demonstrates more than half the patches and gives all patch names at the end:

Re: RE vs VST Performance. Is there a difference?
Thanks for the explanation. May be that's why all vst sound "bigger" than re. Beside this i don't see any difference in sound quality, CPU utilisation seems to be the same, and for my old eyes the bigger UI of the vst version is an advantage. :geek: Yup, for this reason I still hope PH will make th...

Re: Reasonistas VST Combinator Backdrops
Hey Richard! Unrelated to this thread but thought I'd ask - it's been a year and 1/2 since Dune 2.5 came out. Are there any plans for a Dune update anytime this year? Love that synth! Cheers At some point DUNE 3, though I cannot say when yet, it's a big project :) If we update DUNE 2 it will probab...

Re: RE vs VST Performance. Is there a difference?
I compared the legend vst vs re version and i saw a major difference : the sound is louder in the vst version. That is no surprise. When making the VST version we neither knew that A) VST would come in Reason and B) what levels Propellerhead would choose, relative to the REs. Getting this right wou...

Re: Synapse's The Legend Synthesizer Song Challenge Winners
A big thanks to all participants! Note it was so close that not being 1st, 2nd or 3rd does not mean anything at all, there was a large pool of potential winners in our view and we simply had to make a choice. Perhaps there is a track that Reasontalk forum members feel strongly should have won, hence...

Re: Synapse The Legend Synthesizer is in the Shop
Fantastic update Richard, now I'm sold and got my believe back in Reason ;-) Before I could run 15 instances of the Legend, after update 45! Re: Synapse The Legend Synthesizer is in the Shop
The update made a difference on the DSP bar for sure. I loaded up my track I wrote for the song challenge. Before the update the track stuttered like crazy in Reason, but now it plays everything through fine. The only weird thing I noticed was that one particular instrument (with Legend) sounded di...

Re: Synapse The Legend Synthesizer is in the Shop
We have updated The Legend to v1.0.3. This introduces major performance improvements, now the performance is much closer to the VST/AU. As I wrote earlier, somehow the vectorization (i.e. processing four voices in parallel) did not work nearly as well as in the VST, and finally we found out the reas...
