Re: MIDI mapping without Remote Override
Hi, Reason Studios has changed all that SDK, developer stuff a view weeks ago (Can´t find the link). But sign in as a developer is easy, but should not be necessary. Starting to adapt an existing codec, should be also possible - this is what I´ve done first. Which foot controller is it, you need a ...

Re: MIDI mapping without Remote Override
I can plug in any controller that has an existing codec and it’s transport controls will work - no adjusting any templates. Is there no method to create new Remote MIDI Codecs and Mapping files for custom controllers? Or just no way to specify transport controls in those files? Do I need a developer...

MIDI mapping without Remote Override
I have a MIDI foot controller that can be programmed to output anything I need it to do. I'd like to be able to use it with Reason without having to set up remote overrides in each project. I know I can create a template project, but that doesn't help with any existing projects. I can't wrap my head...

Re: Background noise on lead vox
Treat it like a live vocal take, so you’ll want a soft expander gate, not a hard gate, and only reduce by -9 to -16dB (or less, depending on the vocal presence in the mix). Otherwise it’s too obvious. Waves PSE would do the trick quickly, but the Reason Mixer channel gate could be fussed to work as ...

Re: Propellerhead & Midas M32
Works fine here, M32 and a Mac, no driver needed. It just shows up as a 32 in/out interface.
I don’t believe the HUI mode works well. I’ve never tried it in Reason (works fine in Logic) but there’s another thread stating how broken Mackie MCU/HUI support is in Reason.

Re: Modernized Mixer Alternative
I agree with the spirit of this request. I love the SSL (which doesn’t have any analog modeling, btw, just vintage-inspired workflow). But a more precise, surgical modern mode would be appreciated. For now, as others mentioned, you can totally workaround this by inserting your own preferred compress...

Re: Announcing Reason 11
I don’t think I’ve seen anyone mention, but a real game changer is the ability to have Reason patches in Mainstage without the Rewire stupidity. Reason will truly be stage-friendly and portable at that point. This is especially important for me because I do all my writing in Reason (mainly because o...

Re: Reason 10 announced!
I’m guessing when they eventually open up the players to developers we will start getting humanise devices. And even more advanced chorders like a player version of Autotheory. For now though it’s best to copy to track. Turn off snap to grid in the piano roll and adjust manually. Or copy to track a...

Re: Why do some home studios have more than one MIDI keyboard?
Own 1 controller: control 1 instrument. 2 controllers can control 2 instruments. 3 can control 3. Here I am being pedantic again (ugh), but this is oversimplified. Every controller I currently have access to (Nektar P4, Akai MPK49, MAudio Keystation Pro 88, Nord Stage 2, MAudio Axiom 61, Roland Fan...

Re: Why do some home studios have more than one MIDI keyboard?
For me it is function and action. My Panorama 49 is the centerpiece and sits on the desk in front of my computer. But I have a hammer-action 88 key off to the side that I swivel to when laying down piano-centric tracks. If someone invented a multi-action controller (from hammers to synth feel with t...

Re: Reason 10 announced!
3- The SSL it's nice, but i would like: an integrated (not RE, not VST) free good flexible EQ that allows micro EQ adjustments. And an integrated (not RE, not VST) good multiband compressor. Yeah that's 2 devices out of 12 I can name that you would've thought would've been stock devices in a profes...

Re: Reason 10 announced!
I’ll be upgrading. Yes, it’s missing the feature updates we’ve mentioned, but as I’ve started treating Reason more like a music-creation rack and less like a DAW, this update is ironically perfect. Two modern stock synths, cool, why not?

Re: Remove low velocity MIDI notes from conversion???
To prep a live track for drum replacement, I usually set up a gate using the SSL. Then I hit the option to route the filters to the sidechain, so the gate is only listening to a narrow band. Then I bounce the mixer channel to a new track (printing the gated sound), and then finally do the audio to M...

Re: Computer too slow
I hit the DSP wall waaaaaay sooner in Reason than Logic on the same computer, so my solution is try avoid heavy VSTs and REs while tracking/producing/arranging, and then export stems for mixing in Logic.

Be aware that sidechaining doesn’t working with any Waves plug in Reason. C6, F6, H-Comp, Vocal Rider, etc are pretty limited without sidechain support.

Re: Reason devices as VST/AU in other DAWs
In my dreamworld, it's vastly simplified - not the entire Reason rack. Just a single Combinator instance (multiplied by as many instances as you create in your DAW of choice). You could use that Combinator to a single Reason instrument, a Reason effect, or an entire chain of effects. I'm sure the co...

Reason devices as VST/AU in other DAWs
I know this one is far fetched. I would LOVE to see a Reason Combinator VST/AU that could load Reason devices and instruments in other DAWs. To have Thor, Kong, The Echo, etc in Logic, Live or Mainstage would be a game changer. Provide all the routing and programming possibilities within the sandbox...

Re: How come propellerhead doesn't do this also?
This is funny to read. BMD literally makes the cheapest (in both price and quality) video broadcast/recording gear on the market. I've never heard of them referred to as expensive. Your point stands, as prices are relative of course.
