Re: Announcing Reason 13

I think they increased the price of the upgrade to push people towards the subscription. There will probably be a sale on the upgrade at some point, maybe black Friday, maybe Christmas. I remember that Mattias once ruled this out if the release was too recent. In this case it would only be half a y...

Re: Logic Pro for$200 or should I upgrade to Reason 13?

Last time I tried it they had a full 90 days trial. Plenty of time to check out everything. :-) I still find the gfx and color scheme of Logic the most appealing amongst current DAW's. But I've always been struggling with the AU-only approach. Unlike VST's (copy to the target folder and done), AU's ...

I did - and it worked. :-) Well, at least for simple tasks like "Equalizer". For more exotic devices it is more difficult, of course. You are joking, right? Re: Problem playing sequencer midi notes on a hardware synthesizer

Solved! I had the Take 5 connected with MIDI in and out to the Studio 24c interface... But I had to connect it via USB to the computer (with the computer connected to the Studio 24c). Once connected via USB and selecting Take 5 as the master keyboard (I don't know if the latter was essential), Take...

Re: Blamco Equalizer Pack vs Red Rock Equivalents

I don’t have the BlamCo to test, but if the results you show were happening for everyone, the product would be totally unusable! There must be some other explanation for what you’re seeing… Exactly, that‘s why I‘m careful with my conclusions and don‘t blame (no pun intended) BlamCo. EDIT: I did a (...

Have you found the cause for that comb filter like response? Meanwhile what Pultec emu are you leaning towards? No unfortunately not. :( I tried it with other settings (e.g. 48KHz) but with same results. Since I cannot confirm the results in any other way (and I cannot rule out the possibility that...

For EUR 54,00 (~ USD 59,00) incl taxes it is the most expensive bundle. Though it has Neve EQ emulations included. So there's that.
Or you ignore the Bundle with the Neve EQ's and stick with MP-5 for €43,00 ;) After all, it is 2 EQ's in one!

I'm in the same boat (not yet decided), and I have tested the candidates (also e.g. Kuassa EVE MP-5) with Bertom EQ Curve Analyser (https://bertomaudio.com/eq-curve-analyzer.html). The Blamco Program EQ was so far the only one that gave me nasty artefacts on the diagram: Screenshot 2024-05-19 at 14....

Iirc this has been discussed at KvR: panning doesn‘t make sense because the filter is still mono. So no stereo spread possible… :(

In defense of Reason Studio: a lot of other vendors are now doing the same (DAWs as well as VST plugins) as I easily can see in my “Music” folder. What other vendors are you seeing do this? Re: Announcing Reason 13

They install stuff to the user music directory, which is kind of like rubbing salt into a wound. Not only will you have to waste system disk space on it, but now you have to manually tailor your backup strategy with exceptions, etc. to accommodate them throwing Gigabytes of data in the User Music d...

Not on Windows.
Uh really? Didn’t expect that they did it the easy way by using system functionality. That’s indeed a flaw. I have my entire sample lib (50GB) in FLAC format. Given that I someday might revert to Windows that would be a major bummer.

Reason already has FLAC support: it can import any FLAC file. Only missing part is the export of the mixdown.

I would use a free re which i can't remember the name of right now but I'm sure someone else here can tell you the exact name. It's something with a/b. There's two of them, but one of them will be the one you need. Either the ones from pongasoft: https://www.reasonstudios.com/shop/browse/?developer...

It‘s even worse: With the update they did break VST things, telling „we improved compatibility“, and have the cuzpe to let the plugin developers do the cleanup stuff. And a bunch of newly introduced bugs. I cannot help but feel the updates are rushed more and more. It‘s been 5 years since I switched...

Same is true for Ableton, Bitwig, Studio One, (you name it)... they are all in the same boat.

Much love for BeatMap here. It usually produces quite nice drum loops - at least more to my liking than the ready-to-use audio loops. But as stated before: use it for synths with percussion sounds. For example with the „Taiko Drums“ preset from Friktion. Instant Japanese drum performance!
