Expectations regarding the DAW/sequencer have gone through the roof in recent years. Props couldn't help but fail.

Re: Presonus ruffling feathers with their latest update.
It‘s even worse: With the update they did break VST things, telling „we improved compatibility“, and have the cuzpe to let the plugin developers do the cleanup stuff. And a bunch of newly introduced bugs. I cannot help but feel the updates are rushed more and more. It‘s been 5 years since I switched...

Re: Do you get a lot of use out of the Reason players?
Much love for BeatMap here. It usually produces quite nice drum loops - at least more to my liking than the ready-to-use audio loops. But as stated before: use it for synths with percussion sounds. For example with the „Taiko Drums“ preset from Friktion. Instant Japanese drum performance!

Re: Tonicmint ST Imager
@luckygreen: Thanks for the tip, but on VST side my go-to Widener is „Wider“ by Polyverse: https://polyversemusic.com/products/wider/ I don‘t know what they are doing, but this plugin has none of the drawbacks. I just works and is mono compatible. That‘s why I was interested in a equally good RE sol...

Re: Tonicmint ST Imager
Decent GUI and feature rich - looks like a good tool. But this made me hesitant: Stereoizer (makes stereo signal from mono signal by introducing small delay for a side) Ok, this is the Haas effect, well known. But with easy accessibility - why not? But this effect has two flaws (if major or minor is...

It has been a very productive year for me: 2 tracks. Apart from the exception during the corona lockdowns, my average is more like <1 per year.

You could also use the Pulsar LFO and set its waveform to „random“.

Re: Bassline Generator and Chord Sequencer, generating within a specific scale?
unfortunately someone who actually knows things about stuff explained to the suits that that means we can't have midi i/o for VSTs cause it might hurt player market share in the ole walled garden, nevermind that it's been a thing in every other DAW since like, what, 2009? And then you install a who...

i gotta admit i like making electronic music but i’ve played on real uprights and that refill sounds better to me i really wanted radical piano to be my upright but it ain’t it and yes it might sound ok for some stuff but man play some actual chords or some little melody’s up and down on a full siz...

Re: Red Rock Sound is giving away Orchestral Hall Reverb and Palette Colorizer
I think you should retry the test with a square wave. A sine may be too pure (aka no harmonics) to see any effect. A sine wave is the preferred way to test for any distortion/saturation, a square wave will tell you little. The whole point is to start with the most pure waveform possible such that I...

Ah, thanks for the explanation. Never delved into cab impulse responses - so far I only dealt with reverbs.crimsonwarlock wrote: ↑17 Jun 2023Same as guitar cab impulses, small files. You only need larger files with reverbs and such.

I think you should retry the test with a square wave. A sine may be too pure (aka no harmonics) to see any effect. Ah, then I was completely mislead. I was expecting something similar like the saturation knob or scream 4, which add harmonics at some point. More like a wave shaping feature. I'll try...

Re: Red Rock Sound is giving away Orchestral Hall Reverb and Palette Colorizer
While I always appreciate generous gifts (thanks for these freebies!), I am puzzled what the "Palette Colorizer" actually does. I know, I know: Just add this effect to the original signal and select the desired color. But when I checked the results on a sine wave with spectrum analyser and scope, it...

Re: Garageband........Argh
I checked out "Umbrella" by Rihanna, done in GarageBand 10 years ago, and the music was extremely weak (except for the bass, probably done on a real synth). “Umbrella” won a Grammy, sold millions of copies, reached #1 on the Billboard Hot 100, earned a spot on Rolling Stone’s “500 Greatest Songs of...
