Re: Hydlides rant about performance
Anyhoo, I can relate to what hydlide is saying from experience. I'm on an 18 core i9 and I second that emotion. This video is certainly not a technical breakdown of Reason's limitations (I tried to explain it to you when I got my new many-core PC earlier this year but that techno-mumbo-jumbo was si...

Re: [announce] VCV Rack VST plugin
My assumtion is, when VCV is running over VST bridge there's an extra overhead in process-to-process communication. ah, of course. when you mentioned DSP performance I thought of CPU performance. since the DSP bars show the ellapsed time, not the CPU usage, a plugin that will stall and wait for net...

Re: [announce] VCV Rack VST plugin
I think it's a Windows 8 specific behaviour. It happens in Reason and in Live but not in Bitwig. very strange. IIRC you have forked the VCV Rack repo yourself so it's probably safe to assume that you are a dev. You could have a look at the VeeSeeVSTRack repo (see below), maybe you can find a soluti...

Re: [announce] VCV Rack VST plugin
I did. It's the same weird screen resolution change in the Reason window. "hmm." I just changed the Windows display scaling to 150% and that resolution change does not happen here (tested with the original release) (I'm on Windows 10 with an NVidia graphics card). Could you please check if there is...

Re: [announce] VCV Rack VST plugin
I'm on Windows 8.1 and I scaled the screen display to 150% because my 4k monitor has a very high resolution. The moment I put the VCV VST into the Reason rack, the resolution of Reason itself changes to 100% and I can barely read anything in the Reason window. could you please try this test version ?

Re: [announce] VCV Rack VST plugin
Well, it does not work on my side. Can help somehow to fix bugs? please try the new version. if that fails, too, download "Dependency Walker", load the plugin DLL and check if there are any missing dependencies (but keep in my mind that the output is not exactly correct, it will show a lot of missi...

[announce] VeeSeeVST Rack VST plugin
Hi everyone, I have ported VCV Rack 0.6.1 to the VST2 format. Here's a video of it: https://vimeo.com/277703414 and here are the binaries for x64 Windows: vcvrack_0_6_1_vst2_bin_win64-29Jun2018.7z (removed). EDIT : everything's now on GitHub (including the binaries), see here . The plugin has been t...

Re: VCV Rack version 6 now with VST Plugin
Erm.... :o  :? :lightbulb: =) Here is a new release: vcvrack_0.6_vst2_bin-27Jun2018.7z It took me all evening yesterday to fix all the global+static var references in VCV Rack (over 700!). I also wrote a new build system that ditches GCC in favour of MSVC (I had to, mingw64 did not cut it). ...

Re: VCV Rack version 6 now with VST Plugin
Okay, here we go: VCVRack 0.6 as a VST plugin: vcvrack_0.6_vst2_bin-25Jun2018.7z This is just a quick and dirty hack I created this evening but it's already useable I guess. Here's a short demo video (yeah, that patch is horrible ) : https://vimeo.com/276966700 Multichannel input + output shou...

Re: VCV Rack version 6 now with Bridge
I guess they never had a VST plugin in mind when they started to develope so the bridge is a pretty fast solution. I just had a look at the source -- and just as I thought, there are indeed a couple of global/static variables that would prevent multiple instantiation. On the other hand, it does not...

Re: VCV Rack version 6 now with Bridge
[..]unfortunately the new feature "Bridge" which allows audio from Rack to be piped into your DAW appears to have some issues.......being Pops and Crackling......[..] [..]I wonder if this in any way hints at an underlying difference between how Reason treats VSTs or if it's just a coding/optimisati...

Re: The other way round - a VST wrapper for REs
What about a VST wrapper for REs? The idea behind this is to be able to use REs (mostly synths) in other DAWs. Yes, I know I can use Rewire for this purpose ... it's just about the idea :lightbulb: I suggested this a couple of months ago (both to PH and in this forum). A short discussion ensued and...

Re: Falcon on sale for $261 has my finger on the buy button
Falcon is very deep (almost like a modular system) and sounds very good, IMHO. Except for a few of the IRCAM sample players, it is very CPU efficient. The patches are stored as XML files and it's easy to write patch generators for it (e.g. I wrote one that generates multisample patches). Keep in min...

Re: Pipeline Pressure Control FX
thanks for the freebie ! I just tried it out and recorded some ambient music with it: 8hvP8zIB Uses 6 layered instances of Turn2On's Pipeline Pressure Control RE freebie. Blending weights are being generated by miditracker.org's CtlMorph node (which itself is controlled by a fader on my MPK49), then...

Great news! Thanks a lot for the update, will try it out right away! (a short while later) Many thanks for fixing the distortion issue (can confirm it's gone now). I am really impressed by the update (just tested it with some different signals, some Synthmaster One patches, Humana Vocal Ensemble, an...

Re: Reason without VST plugins is much better (poll)
@groggy1: it's true that before VSTs were added, Reason practically never crashed (at least in my experience). It's still very stable once you've sorted out the "bad egg" VSTs, though. As some have already said, there are things VSTs can do that REs can't. However, you don't need them just like you ...

Re: Reason without VST plugins is much better (poll)
"No - I use VST's with Reason" A while ago I mentioned that I'm working on a DAW. Well, I tried working with VSTs-only for a (short) while until I realized that I was missing Reason (and some of its great REs) a lot. So I turned that DAW into a metahost VST plugin, which can then be loaded into Reas...

Re: Champagne SuperNova Vintage Synthesizer
..and - maybe this is asking too much - an audio-input would be lovely ;) (for routing other signals through the cabinet and fx..) I've got the audio inputs running; it's quite cool actually because it's before the splitter, so you can run ext. audio through the any or all of the six Resonators and...

Re: RX950 Classic AD/DA Converter
yes there is. I just talked to md. they are very relaxed about cross-upgrades and basically handle them the same way Synapse Software do -- send a proof of purchase and you'll get the VST as well. We'll be happy to give you access to the VST/AU bundle, since, to us, you already bought the "product",...

Re: Champagne SuperNova Vintage Synthesizer
There's extra distortion on all Resonators and Tones, separate to the amp drive, as controlled with the Drive parameter. These are there to reflect the fact all notes have their own vacuum tubes. It's subtle enough, I feel, when using 3 or 4 notes, but yes, when adding more notes it does create a l...
