I don't really understand why they don't extend the RE SDK such that ALL Reason Rack devices are built using it. Seems like an architectural no-brainer to me - why have 2 classes of devices instead of 1?

It is! What's interesting to me is that initially I didn't really care for that track, but over time I've grown to love it a great deal. It reminds of waves crashing on an alien shore on a distant planet, where a lonely space traveler has been stranded.
