Re: Return of the Ships (pagan) - Too Eurovision Contest-y?
I never really get why people get so bent at Pop. Pop is hard to do. Anyone can make a nasty noise with no interest for 99% of people. It takes a lot more to deliver a hummable melody, let alone one that has people wanting to come back. Without knowing your usual output I couldn't say directly what...

Better to embed properly here (that distro (dis)service playlist does you no favors)
I like the overall sound feel, except the 'bad tape' thing as that takes away (at least for me)

I watched the intro vids several times. Yet I still forgot that.
Thanks for the reminder.
I need to do it a few times to make it real or I'll just forgettify again.

Re: How to choose send effects for a dub mix?
Thanks a lot for this, and for the link. I see no reason to want more than eight Sends in a (sane) mix. You only have one room so having eight of them seems nuts to me. But doesn't that depend on the idea that you're trying to make all of the channels sound like they're in the same room? And presum...

Re: The Future of Reason DAW
I also agree that if you use Reason then why does it matter what trivial tattles were tacked onto ProFruit or CakeBase?? :-) What about Logband, Reapwig or Studio Live? 🤣 Nah they are rubbish, might as well use Abledumb. It is all about Garbageband & Cockwig. CockTools used to be good but they got ...

Re: [Black Metal] Petrale - The World Down There
I love hearing that Reason is being used for things that are not (t)Rap & EDM. Partly because I do none of the above myself.
Cheery stuff. Well produced. Looks like you have sold more than a few copies so goon on ya.

Re: How to choose send effects for a dub mix?
The thing with Dub was that it was rather anarchic. The guys doing it were often making their own devices. So that takes the mindset of "should" right off the table. I would not be using the Dubby thing on a send but per (relevant) sound in the mix. Again because most of those guys didn't have SSLs ...

Re: Master EQing fail... (UPDATE: example song + mastering walkthrough)
Thanks Mr C It is sad. I think way past time that we do talk about the trolls in the room who take over everything by making everyone bow to their ill manners. I do wish those kinds of videos Speakers vs Headphones, Studio Monitors vs Hi-Fi Spears etc got better engagement (and adult discussion AFTE...

Re: Panning in Ripley
I have 2 questions: 1. Are there any delays that you can choose exactly how many repeats you want? Instead of a feedback knob you can select 1 repeat. Or 2 repeats, etc.. that’s what I’m looking for. 2. In Reason, I know what an insert is. I know what a send effect is. What the heck is an Aux send/...

Re: PK-999 New VST3 - Wow!!
Thanks Jag - hopefully that is the last of that ;-) This is a piece from my next album which was made 100% with PK-999 and mostly my own effects. All in Reason of course. It doesn't get doofy as this is my music BUT it does show the tone of the instrument well from bassy bass to strident "muted trum...

Re: PK-999 New VST3 - Wow!!
Thanks Jag It is not technically a CZ emulation but uses the same kind of engine. It can do basic CZ sounds or extend a bit into a quirky corner with its own thing. look like a child made it Really. Seems like a 3yo wrote that. Surely we can do better than this sort of pissing on each other?? Not th...

Re: Master EQing fail... (UPDATE: example song + mastering walkthrough)
Benedict is back, so now we can look back a little. One thing I never understood was that: at the end of the day, were the hats simply mixed too loud? Hmmm, that is a value judgment type Q so if wanted more/less hats then do so. I think I felt them ok at the time - Trappy stylings and all that. As ...

old school EBM Tutorial
A kind of follow-up to an almost 5-year-old video where I introduced EBM and gave a basic tutorial - except the sound went bonkers on me. This time I skip straight to walking through everything done in making a demo song with a classic Industrial edge (think Front 242). https://www.youtube.com/watch...

What do you need Fab Filter for the Reason SSL mixer has everything you need...smile I'm with him (her/it/they/zebra in pajamas) Flab Fylter do make good devices (as do Tokyo Dawn). BUT they are a workflow choice. One that does not appeal to me. The F2 EQ window is far better than having to open a ...

Reason has always allowed ownership OR subscription. What the best option for you is depends: -Seeing I have owned Reason since forever the upgrade path suits better as a) it is bit cheaper assuming* and b) I don't care about the extra devices R+ delivers. -For my partner Jane it makes more sense fo...

You are right. There is no Pan knob for the echo!
The Echo doesn't either.
DDL-1 does
Alligator does (but you have to keep the signal alive)
Synchronus does
Polar does (incl AutoPan)

TAL Sampler does that too but this has a charm (assuming you think that era was charming to use). The sound does feel quite 90s. Probably more immediately early sampling than TAL which is way more powerful and modern in capability.

Re: any good online tutorial classes recomendations?
I say just pick something, be it the online course you mentioned or Benedicts and Seligs material/help. I've seen too many people wallow in indecisive territory way too long. The sooner you just "get to it" the faster the results will come. If you already have some background with making music I'm ...

Re: Blamsoft Distributor - is there a way using stock instruments?
But I can’t help but think “what would Thor do?”… If you wanted to keep using a ReDrum (and try other options), Thor comes to the rescue! Use the step sequencer tuned to each note in ReDrum, Play Mode ’to ‘Step’, Direction to ‘Random’, and Steps to ‘10’... I wouldn't have thought of that but it is,...

For that, why not do that in NN-XT using the Random Robin feature?

Nice
Reminds me of some of the NuBeat-EBM experimental stuff from the mid-80s (before Techno took over).
