Re: Reason Studios 13 or 14 (Future Talk)

If they're wise they'll consider controller collaborations with Akai, Nektar or Novation. Given what they have done with the great Remote tech when Reason was still a standalone product, I highly doubt they’d go that route since RRP remonte capabilities are under the host DAW Missing the mark in th...

Re: open source millitary percussion beats available?

Drumline for me was about the thrill of a large group in perfect (or close!) sync, the power of ‘many’ making the sound of ‘one’. I will admit I don’t watch drumline/drum corps videos myself, so it was more about the powerful experience for me than the actual music being presented. It actually taug...

Perfectly in sync for me. You might have a little delay.

Re: Reason Studios 13 or 14 (Future Talk)

It's hard to gauge how Reason 13 or 14 will be, but I bet they've spent the last 2 years doing a lot of R&D to enhance the workflow. They'll also be appeasing the suits upstairs with their (I'm presuming) demands to bring more "value" to the subscription model at the expense of perpetual licenses. T...

Presonus AudioBox Go. Wow!!

I needed (wanted really) any old thing to connect my non-production PC to my speakers (Mackie CR4). I could have connected it via a stereo jack cable, but I wanted a volume knob that was not on the speakers. Behringer has some cheap options, and I was tempted to get their £20 interface that only has...

Re: Presonus ruffling feathers with their latest update.

I understand why people value perpetual licenses. But everything in life is ephemeral. Your OS and your computer is not perpetual. Chances are after some time what you own today will not run on modern systems. I use Studio One when I am recording all live things. I hate that you cannot switch time ...

Re: Steinberg discontinues vst2 for all users

Yes you need a license to host vst. It's understood that future releases won't be able to host vst2 because of this. Some people here were thinking host-devs didn't need a license :puf_wink: the only thing I could see is about dropped support for SDK 2.0, which only affects developers as I understa...

Re: Steinberg discontinues vst2 for all users

So far, I've not found anything pointing to the possibility of doing this without the Steinberg SDK and/or a Steinberg license. Also, I cannot imagine Steinberg controlling the plugin-side of VST-technology, without controlling the hosting-side as well (which the above shows they obviously do). Goi...

Re: Steinberg discontinues vst2 for all users

Let's be honest; Steinberg does not offer much beyond inertial authority.

Usually by now, the standard would be maintained by a consortium of the most prominent figures in digital audio music production.

But Selig is right, that it seems only to cover plugins.

Re: Steinberg discontinues vst2 for all users

Steinberg might come to regret this.

We already have the CLAP format. This could force other DAWs to band together to commit to an open standard that no one company controls.

Re: Good Speaker Monitoring for Mix and Mastering or Sound designing

I bought headphones for this but am always too worried about ear damage to fully concentrate on the music.

I chose mine because of how similar they sounded to Genelecs in the store (though the newer editions moved manufacture to Taiwan and the sound is said to have changed a bit since then).

Re: Reason 12.7.4 Release Notes

Has Reason basically been abandoned now workflow wise? just ridiculous now. We're half way through the third month of 2024 after a year of waiting for workflow additions. As a rule of thumb, if you don't see any updates on a product that is being actively developed, it's because they're either: 1. ...

Re: Reason 12.7.4 Release Notes

This particular bug in Europa created a problem in my mix; a track with Europe was suddenly louder, and I couldn’t figure out why my track sounded louder and harsh as I was close to finishing the mix. I had to redo the chain in that track to compensate for that and make other changes in the song al...

In total I don't see much to be agitated over. In comparison to removing the Line6 amps that's a really minor thing even for creators of Refills. Re: Reason 12.7.4 Release Notes

I just assume based on Release notes. So output of Europa is not always louder when dist is used in the "bug-introduced" Reason version ? Does the bug happen only if older songs are loaded and not if you are using new instance of Europa and creating new sounds or loading older patches ? The release...

Re: Reason 12.7.4 Release Notes

The fact that the latest versions of Reason can introduce bugs into the old devices worries me. I thought that there is no reason to touch the device's sound engine code at all when implementing other DAW new features and changes. But if this happens and bugs occur in older devices, it means that p...

Re: open source millitary percussion beats available?

There's a lot of variation available to percussionists. Just think of what a percussionist can do with a single drum! The simplest approach that hasn't changed in the last 30 years is to stitch samples together. Alternatively, you can try key-switching with the more advanced instruments you'd find i...

I don't care for the new design, but what worries me is priority support for Reason+ subscribers. What will be next? Dark theme only for subscribers? Service updates only for subscribers? More than 5kb/s download bandwidth only for subscribers? Was pointing that out really necessary? I now feel lik...
