Does Selig know Selig?

Hi Giles ;) I always asked myself, if you know your alias is German for "blessed" or "blissful" and that there is also a German artist with that name? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pDsQOdiCd9E Maybe this has been asked already in the PUF days. Love the song btw! :D I had the pleasure talking to Ga...

Understanding loudness, LUFS and R128 (using Measure RE)

Might be just me, but a lot of the explanation and asking in this thread made me wonder, since the big meter, in its default setting, is already set to show you red indicators once you pass -12dB RMS. It will also show on the *normal* master out meters in the mixer and the rack. https://dl.dropboxus...

I would like to throw in the UR22 by Steinberg. About the same price (10€ cheaper), great features (offers MIDI in/out) and solid build quality. :)

Whats your Keyboard weapon of choice?

Most MIDI controllers are synth action keys, meaning they naturally won't feel like a piano at all. Personally, I have an Alesis V49 which is also synth action, but for some reason has a lot more "pressure" in the keys itself, which gives me a better feeling when playing. I choosed that over the Nek...

Not sure if labels spend time to browse SC for talent. Most electronic music indie labels, which is the area I'm familiar with, accept private tracks on SC to be linked via e-mail. I would still advise to find some labels that could be into your sound and then contact them directly. That said, I had...

I wish you all the best for this and we both follow the same path, in a way. After getting into Trance in 1999 and House in 2005, I enjoy a lot of music that does something different to the four to the floor, EDM formula. Unusual stuff, different arrangement schemes, including sounds beyond sawtoot...

But please, don't you always wipe your SoundCloud back to ground zero! :D  You sir have some serious talent and I'm sure you could have more than one release on a decent indie label already. Oh thanks for the compliment!  I'm pushing myself to be better so I can tap into the more emotional, deeper ...

I think its time to bundle our minds

I like the idea of a podcast, like a general talk round with changing members and a subject to discuss about or just share ideas really. Of course we are from various time zones and a lot of non-native English speakers, myself included, but I would like to participate. :) Organic sounds - interestin...

...if you're not getting meds, why not try that? Music is my medication!   :t0152:   :s0547: :s0238: Very inspiring. The moment I have my 2-3 beers an evening, it's usually down to browsing forums, chatting with friends and playing online poker. I suck making music when I had even one. Turns me int...

Mental state of creation?  Hmmm.  I'm getting high just thinking about it.  It's 17:11 here in CA and the sun is about to go down.  I'm going for a walk through the twilight, maybe stop at the store for an energy drink and then I'll get into that state for the rest of the night.  I don't really thi...

Radical Piano Patches?

I usually go for NYSOM and tweak that to my needs. RP isn't really an instrument I would save presets for and the factory sounds cover a lot of ground. Not sure what you're after, but I believe if you get RP, you can easily tweak it to your liking and reduce any need for more patches. :)

Thanks for the share. Can't use it because of missing device (I run Essentials). Probably The Echo? Or something else? Maybe it could be rebuild with Essentials and some other REs? :) Neutron is probably my 2nd favorite device / Rack Extension, but I also just added Uhbik G to the gang, mostly becau...

Back in the days, and obviously still now, the process of music production involves several people. You have a writer/composer, musicians or a band, a producer, an engineer and finally a mastering engineer, all contributing to the final song. On top of that, eventually, some co-writers, co-producers...

New ReFills from ModeAudio and The Loop Loft available in the Propellerhead shop

Jumped on the 3 for 2 deal and got Float, Reflect and Diamond Web. Good stuff so far. Maybe the samples are a bit too "processed", especially when it comes to limiting and reverb applied already. It's good that they provide the MIDI as well, so you can easily use the notes for synths and other instr...

As much as I liked playing with Reaktor and as much as M4L looks awesome to me in theory, it doesn't get beyond browsing ensembles and being constantly over-whelmed (and feeling stupid). ;)

Subtractor isn't too bad. Loads of wave-forms, FM and the phase shift options are rather great options not many *simple* VA/subtractive synths have. I would recommend Malström mainly because you can do A LOT with tweaking and modulating shift, motion and index. You can *freeze* portions of the grain...

There is a stage where synths become fully-featured, but also less fun. Thor never *rocked* my world, while in theory it could be everything I needed. Sub/Mal are a great couple in my book and both remain simple on the front. Until this date, I get a little "stop in motion" moment when I have to use...

Keeping from clipping

When working in Reason, I simply lower the mixer fader when still browsing for sounds, especially in the "writing" stage of a song (which is hard to separate strictly nowadays since you can do pretty much everything all the time). When I'm happy with a sound, I set the fader back to its default and ...

Reason Essentials. (Good because you can open the projects in the full version, self-containing the original recordings.) Audacity. (Free.) REAPER.
