Re: Thinking of buying RoughRider RE, talk me out of it...
If you want that specific sound of the VST then yes just get the RE version of it for you’re going the RE only route. Why bother trying to get close to it with something else if you can have exactly what you want.

Re: Arturia Announcement Today April 9 6pm CEST/12 noon EST
It’s actually $1599 USD. Competitively priced with the cheaper versions of flagship keyboards. It's anywhere from $1599 to $2199 online, $1999 is what is quoted on the Arturia site - not sure which price to use so picked the one on the Arturia site (which is currently sold out fwiw)! Screen Shot 20...

Re: Arturia Announcement Today April 9 6pm CEST/12 noon EST
I think the interface is fine for its intended use. One could easily make a playlist of patches and just use the buttons to select patches live. The product seems to have that use in mind. There is no value here for me or anyone who likes to do sound design on hardware, but it would be fine for pla...

Re: Arturia Announcement Today April 9 6pm CEST/12 noon EST
I really thought RS would have done this with elk like they were showing off a few years ago. Native Instruments should’ve done this by now as well. As simple as this keyboard is, it’s genius! The stage intended keyboard market is pretty boring compared to what software can do and this is a step in...

Re: What do you think re control room in Reason?
To be fair. YouTube thumbnails is how you get views. You’d have to blame YT for the clickbait culture. Aside from that. If we were using Reason wrong, it wouldn’t be wired the way it is by default. Really the control room out is good for listening to sends, fantastic if you were sending multiple mon...

Re: Has it ever been shared why they focused on just the rack vs. the full DAW?
Likely because the rack has always been the core of the product. Even in the Rewire days most skipped the sequencer in favor their DAW of choice as it’s never been the greatest part of the program.
But maybe also to give a reason to use the full DAW

Re: Looks like Reason Studios have redesigned their site...
Haven’t looked at it on desktop just yet. But that’s kind of the point I think. Most people in this day and age browse the internet with their phone. Particularly younger people. Those of us who’ve been doing this for a while, you get to realize at some point you’re not the primary target audience f...

Re: Way to bounce mix channels WITH sends/returns per channel?
I'm pretty sure Reason can't do this automatically. Lucky for me I would never use this feature, but the world is a big place and somebody somewhere needs to do just this (not just you). This use case really appals me too. If you're exporting inserts and sends per channel that means you're exportin...

That’s definitely an odd issue. My first thought is perhaps you may have accidentally automated the combinator switch.

Re: Almost all my songs are audibly clipping, what am I missing?
... I put my limiter between the master and the audio interface, AND I still hear it if I clip the outputs. I do this to replicate how I’ve used mastering over the years, which is AFTER the mix stage. Patching it this way makes sense to me, but that’s probably just because it’s how I’m used to work...

Re: Almost all my songs are audibly clipping, what am I missing?
I'll add in here. It's not simply academic. The distinction really does matter. You can have clipping lights on the master but not hear audible clipping on the output. You will however hear that clipping upon export once floating point is no longer saving you from it. I'm pretty sure the playback a...

Re: Almost all my songs are audibly clipping, what am I missing?
Not sure we’re disagreeing, except: The truth is you can’t clip the master, because ‘floating point”. That said… You CAN clip the output and should thus always pay attention to levels at all stages. Not sure either :) I thought you're making a quantum physics theory-like argument, that the signal o...

Re: Almost all my songs are audibly clipping, what am I missing?
The Learn How to Reason guy wasn’t really that knowledgeable tbh. Selig’s breakdown will help you a bit more.
But basically while you can’t clip in Reason per-se, you can clip the the physical outputs you’re listening through. Nothing wrong with turning things down in the creative process.

What workstation bread and butter sounds you're looking for? I'm not saying all of the sounds are of the same quality of workstations per se, but stock Reason is pretty much that. A workstation. It shares a lot of the same weaknesses of most workstations (aside from acoustic piano where most modern...

Re: Channeling elements
If it’s only affecting hihats I’d go the multiband processing route where you can put the phaser on only the high frequencies. You can do that with the stereo imager or I believe there’s a free band splitter in the shop. selig’s method works great as well but you run into some problems if the kick a...
