Re: Acoustic drums: separate tracks for every part - yes or no?

Sure you can sort of simulate a room and overheads but why do all the extra work if it was captured well in the first place? That is indeed the question. If the cymbals are balanced in the overhead mix, why do all the hassle. I recall watching an interview of the engineer who recorded Chop Suey. Cy...

Re: Acoustic drums: separate tracks for every part - yes or no?

In digital audio, you can really do what you want. Traditionally it’s near impossible to isolate cymbals on a real drum kit so that gets captured by overheads. That is obvious, but... If you wish to process cymbals separately from that you can... The point is that with Reason Drum Kits, you cannot....

Within the 5 min and 45 sec did he say "Reason"? Maybe I missed it while he was going through the list of supported DAWs.
Scalar seems to work fine in Reason for me.
Sorry, I was referring to using the midi out of scalar.

Re: Nektar Panorama CST

He said all DAWs they have integration with, so it’s likely Reason is included. Yeah, Nektar have a decent track record of supporting Reason so it's a bit premature to get upset. Changing the knob colours to match the effect type looks cool but I wonder how many DAWs that will work with because it ...

Re: Why is Reason Lacking in so many popular DAW lists for 3rd party products

Just a reminder, this thread is about Reason showing up on 3rd party product lists/support and being mentioned in various platforms that mention almost every other DAW. Not about comparing Reason with other DAWs or lecturing if you can make good music with it or not. Let's all agree that you as an ...

Re: Why is Reason Lacking in so many popular DAW lists for 3rd party products

Those who play midi into the sequencer are just fine for the most part. It does the jobs as well as any other DAW imo. From what I’ve seen it’s mostly people who want other features, step input, built in step sequencer, Chord track…etc… I suppose those who are inputing by hand. Personally I think i...

Re: Why is Reason Lacking in so many popular DAW lists for 3rd party products

I doubt the sequencer is the primary thing that kept people out of the Reason DAW. unfortunately no its not just the sequencer anymore ;) personally I'm hoping that the current R12 beta fixes the long standing bugs, sorts out this High DPI whatever and actually produces something close to being wor...

Re: Why is Reason Lacking in so many popular DAW lists for 3rd party products

I'm currently redoing older tracks I made before with Reaper. This means a lot of editing imported MIDI and audio clips in Reason. So far, this has been a breeze in comparison with Reaper. The MIDI editor is leaps and bounds beyond the Reaper one. So, it eludes me what people think is really missin...

Re: Why is Reason Lacking in so many popular DAW lists for 3rd party products

Fair to note that Reason has pretty much always been lacking in midi controller support. Hence why the Nektar stuff was so popular amongst us. We were finally seen.. and seen first at that  I think not listing Reason for VST compatibility is just force of habit. It wasn't compatible for many ye...

Can you look at the fucking graph?
We did. Point is, it’s not really saying much. Check the other graphs in this thread. Keywords are very specific when it comes to searches. Literally one word difference can change the results.

A combinator patch only contains the devices inside of it. Nothing on the SSL mixer is included. You could however use the SSL rack devices instead.

Re: How do you use multiple interfaces with Reason?

Update: worked for now! Although I just uninstalled Focusrite's software and driver. Haven't tweaked it, but on 192 kHz with 512 buffer, you get 6 ms. Of course, when I record, I'll probably just go with 44.1 kHz, so I can record at even lower latency. Latency actually works the opposite way. Highe...

Re: How do you use multiple interfaces with Reason?

Best bet. Buy a monitor controller and plug both into it as sources. You don't need the topping while recording or the Focusrite while mixing or just using midi (provided it has low latency). Switch the audio interface depending on what you're doing. The only other reliable method is to go the tradi...

Re: Another reason for you to hate Waves

The problem comes down to what you’re paying for. Most of Waves’ updates aren’t really updates. Which is why a lot of people didn’t pay for WUP regularly. I upgraded to the new OS and my “old version “ still works perfectly fine then I’m not inclined to pay for a “compatibility update” where all the...

Started phasing out my waves plugins because of WUP. I’m only down to one now that I got for free recently. NLS. I’ll be looking for a suitable replacement for that soon. Possibly a plugin alliance equivalent.

The converters really do make a difference though. It’s not a placebo. I didn't say it is a placebo. Although, perception bias is a real thing. Ever heard about the not connected switch making people hear different things? Particularly when it comes to mixing. Sure you’d ideally want a treated room...

quality interfaces are obviously super important, but you also have to kinda go out of your way to find one that’s not any good. interfaces are one of the biggest “diminishing returns” pieces of gear involved in recording audio. if you can hear the difference, that’s great, but I guarantee your lis...

Sorry to tell you, but all of the Scarlett gear is basically the same quality. I totally agree with that. In my view, these days, entry level doesn't mean that it is worse in quality, it means it has limited functionality in comparison to the more 'pro' stuff. I did point out that I think the Solo ...

it’s super entry level equipment. I would say that goes for every entry-level product in every product range from every manufacturer.
