I think they're both great synths to have in your rack.
Polysix is not as flexible as Mono/poly, but it is very fast to program and use. If you can get both then I would.

What are you guys using for reference monitors?
I don't have the experience of many of the posters here, but I am very happy with my KRK VXT-6s. I do wish they would go a bit deeper in bass, but the chances are I would get more room acoustic issues, so if I want to check the low/sub bass I pull out my KRK 8400 phones. The VST-6s are ported which...

Another CV thread
Hi CV is definitely an area of confusion for many unfamiliar with the concept - just as MIDI is to people who have never used it. I raise MIDI as the two are rather similar in broad concept. MIDI carries control signals from one place to another. That is it. You then think: well, what might I use t...

VSTs and Hardware Synths
I don't really understand raymondh's opinion that it's easier to lay down softsynth lines first and then replacing them with hardware. Maybe if you have hardware that is very cumbersome to program, with lots of menu diving and stuff taking you out of the creative process I could see that, or if it ...

VSTs and Hardware Synths
Thanks Raymond and everyone else for your comments and input. I thought of buying a VST or two to change it up a bit. Back before REs my buddy was using predator in Ableton and I was blown away by the presets and fullness of the sound. It seems Reason has come a long way to parity with the other DA...

VSTs and Hardware Synths
I frequently use hardware synths with Reason. It works well and I would recommend it, but, it isn't anywhere near as flexible and immediate as when you are using the software synths/RE's. The way I look at it, is the hardware synth has to do something inspiring, that would not be so easy with softwa...

Predator RE update is in the shop
Dunno about SDK stuff, but gosh this update is fantastic! The new unison spread mode is really excellent (as it is on QUAD), and the new patches are really excellent. Well done and thanks to Rob and Jon! This synth really is a beast. The other day I fired up Albino 3 (in my vst host) and while it di...

R8 users: what's your opinion of the browser now?
I've been switching between Reason 7.1 (for collabs) and Reason 8 (solo stuff). Heavy sigh each time I have to go back to Reason 7.1 ! I was happy with the R7 browser _until_ I upgraded to 8. A couple of R8 things still annoy me, but I'll be super happy the day I don't have to open R7 again. :)

April Fools' Day: What might we see?
You're all wrong. The truth is, beginning April 1, all tracks uploaded to Discover will immediately be available for streaming by the public at large brought to you through a promotional link with Tidal... I had heard a variation of this - apparently Robin Thicke has been sifting through tracks on...

Microsoft is buying Propellerhead and adopting Reason as the Microsoft Digital Audio Workstation. (I did wonder if the revised marketing and shut down of PUF was part of preparing the company for sale) Probably Microsoft's purchase was to compete with Apple Logic. I imagine though that as Microsof...

Nice job with this Bou.
I bought it, really like it.
It has a very different sound to the other available synths, and it's fun to program!

Fantastic track Patrick. Really polished production too.

It will be interesting for sure. Certainly back in the day the TX81Z had a very different character to the DX7, maybe this will be the new TX81Z!

Well I bought it and it really is excellent! Very inspiring. I bought it for the verbatim sounds, but the sample mangling and creative sound design is brilliant.

I'm going to have to get this (even with the $NZD exchange rate!) - I can imagine that percussion + synth will make some good Jan Hammer/Miami Vice style music!!

Hi Julianna
It's a reflection on Pandora not you. Their loss.
Just like Decca back in the day
