Re: Any help for us new R8 noobs hopping on the R9 Train?

Drop This is not a biggie for many I imagine but I love it. I don't use Allihoopa for anything other than to get a quick and easy bounce of my songs onto my phone to listen to in the car. Set to private ;) Before Drop, it was a convoluted pain in the ass to get my tracks onto my phone to listen back.

Re: Propellerhead Software in New Zealand? Couldn't pick a different name?

I know a guy that works for Propellerhead (NZ) and is in the promotional video. I've already joked with him that their company ripped off the real Propellerhead. He didn't have a clue what I was on about.

Re: Hand Clap Bundle is in the shop, new REs from Robotic Bean!

Yes it needs the "slide" function. Yup I tried creating a pre-beat clap in one of these clap REs by hooking a JP Lolth (CV delay offset knob) to manipulate the gate from a matrix but couldn't get it to work. I'm sure I've used Lolth before for this kind of thing with Kong/matrix but it didn't work ...

Re: Your mastering setup

SA Studio, I found your mastering YouTube vid to be really helpful when you first released it. So much so that I use the set up as my mastering template. The one RE that I reckon really makes a difference is the Synapse Vintage EQ. Bought it after watching the vid and I don't regret it. Thnx man :)

Yeah Carve crashed for me a few times when I hooked RP Punch up to it. I like the concept of Carve but don't use it anymore because of this.

I agree with that, Relapse is freaky! I've only tried the patches and some are damned scary.

Re: Some tricks I use for drums

Yeah some nice ideas challism, will give some of these a go, thanks. It's the kind of experimentation I should do more of instead of just reaching for a REX drum loop to save time. These kind of semi-random processes is probably how the companies selling refills make their loops and sell them for bi...

Re: Is RE's losing steam?

Zero, Oberon, Vecto, ABL3, etc etc. These are just some of the synths. It's picked up if anything. More heavy hitting synths that were absent in the early days. What did we have, Antidote?? The consumer is more discerning with RE purchases as the market matures. That's all.

There are some gold dust comments in this thread. I've copied/pasted bits to notes on my phone so I can refer back to them. There are things in here that I would not understand or learn from reading a manual. When I read comments that are written for the layman I understand so much better. Thnx Seli...

Nice jfrichards, I always listen to your drop snippets whenever you post them. Great variation in styles and experimentation you have :) Well, $9 is a steal and the bass sounds big from what I've heard. Bought.

Re: Bypassing the SSL Compressor with only some tracks

Also BTW, for bass heavy tracks I find the SSL master Compressor to work better with a side-chain HPF to reduce the reduction for the lower frequencies. Simple to do if you're curious. :) I use this all the time now and it works great for my house mixes. Don't think it's the right term but it seems...

Good point gak. I similarly could rattle off a number of appalling historical and ongoing human rights issues relating to aborigines in my convict cousin Namrahs Amrak's homeland as a retort to his banter about New Zealand. But it's not for here and wouldn't gain anything. But Namrahs Amrak, I know...

Re: CV, I don't use it. Am I missing out?

Is there a reason for this? Or am I missing something? Because CV isn't actually moving the knob. It's offsetting the knob's value. In many devices it's possible to set a knob to its max value, and still raise the internal value higher by applying a positive CV value. You have to think of the final...
