Re: Nektar soft touch: buyer beware

Had the same thing happen to my nektar impact. Knobs and wheels all turned into mush. If I recall, they are well aware of the issue and can provide replacement knobs etc.(not too sure of the wheel). If you don't go that route, use some rubbing alchohol which tends to sort it out quite well. Makes t...

Nektar soft touch: buyer beware

More Nektar Panorama disappointment, sadly. Turns out they used damn soft-touch plastic, which, as soft touch plastics always do, has started turning to a sticky mush. Why do companies continue to use this crap? It must be intentional, because the degradation of it is well known. And the worse part ...

RIP.

I watched the wonderful documentary on his life and career, Ryuichi Sakamoto: Coda, just last year. No idea where it's streaming these days, but I highly recommended it for those interested in his work who might have missed it.

Re: Rack Extension subscriptions in shop closing 13th of April

I recall one RE developer complaining about the low profit margins (especially after the 50% and sales tax were subtracted). But this was barely a year into it. I always thought it was JP ... Well, yeah, hmmm. <coughs>. Hehe. Probably was. It does sound a bit like me  ;) Mind you, I don't thin...

Re: Rack Extension subscriptions in shop closing 13th of April

REASON INFORMATION Hi, We are writing to let you know that we will be closing the Rack Extension subscription service available in our shop. We believe the Rack Extension subscription service was too complex to manage for customers (and quite complex for us to maintain too!). The final day for cust...

Re: Rack Extension subscriptions in shop closing 13th of April

I don't know about that. $9/month probably wasn't worth it for the devs. One user's $9 could be split between up to 44 devs + Reason Studios. I mean the chances of someone subscribing to 44 $9 REs that are all by different devs is probably very slim, but it give an idea of how complex it could be. ...

(Acoustic/Pop) The Quixotes: "The Invisible Singer-Writer", an album

That's a wrap! My last "Quixotes" album. Finally tidied up and polished off all those demos knocking around from the past few years, and they are some of the best things I ever wrote (though not mixed  ). It's the final distillation on everything I've learnt about mental health in the past fift...

Re: can I get a note to trigger at note off signal?

The NN-XT max release time of 200 seconds should be plenty for any length of non-looped release sample you might want. It's probably pretty rare that someone wants to trigger a looped section of a sample on key-off, and have it triggered indefinitely. Unless you like drones a lot! If you have a loo...

Heh, nice find! That's rarish. 1/100 chance I think. There's four rarer, including the 1/450 and the legendary 1/4500 ;) .

Re: can I get a note to trigger at note off signal?

Yeah as selig mentioned, this can be done with looping and using the FW-SUS play mode. I have found that I can set the Loop Start and Loop End to be the same. I can also set those to be the same as the sample start, if the start is the true start of the sample from silence just before. Here I have ...

Re: Reason 12.2.9 Release Notes

New bug in 12.2.9. Definitely not in 12.2.8 (or whatever the previous stable table was). Have you tried messing with the new multithreading settings to see if it makes a difference? Ironically, I did turn off SMT this morning for the first time in years as I was experiencing some unexpected DSP spi...

Re: Reason 12.2.9 Release Notes

New bug in 12.2.9. Definitely not in 12.2.8 (or whatever the previous stable table was). There's a scenario that might prevent the first bar of certain tracks of a song rendering correctly. It might very limited in nature, to just the singular VSTi series noted here, or it might be more prevalent. F...

Re: Reason 12.2.9

If I buy a high ppi monitor (28" 4K/UHD 3840 x 2160), leave windows at 100% and scale in Reason, how do the vst's react, to the windows scaling or the reason scaling. My first tests seems that the vst's scale to windows so the vst's will be too small if I go the high ppi screen with Reason scale to...

I think the mixer track always gets created below the sequencer track of whatever device is above it in the rack (or more precisely, the first device above it that has a sequencer track). Ah, yeah. I've spotted some more graphics errors, one glitch, and one literally still not implemented for HD, in the current Reason build. This time regarding the Navigators, a function I've rediscovered this past few weeks ;) [All images are 1:1 scale at 140% zoom in Reason, default 100% scaling in Windows. ...

Re: How many racks do you work in?

With a multi-monitor setup I really like having three rack columns, to reduce scrolling. Re: Reason Using 6.5 GB of local appdata?!?

Appreciating the zombie resurrection of this thread is regarding REs, just to go back a little more OT and just considering the scratch disk aspect (since that involves a large amount of read/write, whereas at least REs, once installed, won't be rewriting large amounts), I just checked my cache out ...

Re: Suggestion for an easier to digest Reason release strategy as another alternative to subscription and perpetual

As I had suggested some time ago in this post the next major Release version of Reason could go into a more modular release scheme. I'll update this idea a little bit now in the hopes for it to get more visibility (esp. by RS). The Idea is to lower the barrier of entry for non-subscribers thus it i...
