Re: Rob Papen BIT vs BIT 2 update ?

Rob Papen, Synapse, were top developer for the RE platform... But indeed it seems to be ending.
I think the fact that VST3 is supported is one of the factor. Other factor is that many people now use reason as RRP... And no need to have RE version in this case...

Re: Objekt has arrived!

I am very happy that reason studios could come up with an instrument that is top class in its category regardless of being an RE or a VST. That and the fact that they fixed all the R12 missing items, I hope they will start to win back users, at least on the RRP... The rack is very good value for mon...

Re: To Screw or Not to Screw…

My feeling is that now they use a sort of glue that allow not to screw anymore. Or maybe it is magnets? I am firmly in the side of don't care but as I am using reason through RRP, I can say I am generally really happy to open the rack and find all these colourful instruments... and objekt is a blast...

Re: Are players useful with RRP?

+1 on Bitwig+RRP combo.
The players work great there.

Funny enough I really wanted to love ableton but never could while it was instant love with bitwig.
But I am a strong believer of "different people, different taste" so ymmv.

Re: Bitwig Studio 5

I think the anmouncent text was cut.
What matters is that it is a free upgrade for the upgrade plan owner .... at the moment of announcement (11 april)!
So basically if your plan stop tomorrow, you will still have access to bitwig 5 when it will be released next month.
Sweet!

Re: It was 20 years ago today…

I started with rebirth, I was a big big fan of the 303, 808, 909 emulation...
The day they created reason 1.0 I got it (pirate copy if I remember well, I was student and without ANY money...). Since then I think I paid my debt to them with multiple thousand dollars of REs....

Re: Beyond Europa?

It sounds... like a synth. with robotic vibrato and pretty obviously generated note attacks, etc. This is what I'm talking about. It's much easier to synthesize those other types of sounds. There is a reason why this area is not nearly as explored, while the other instrument types were modeled fair...

Re: R12, 16 months on, ... how are you all finding it?

Well I agree with you that the fact that it is a vst still in 2023 should be taken into account negatively in the buying decision. But I agree with me that if I have Spire already today and I like it, I don't see any reason to proactively replace it before it is really obsolete. It remains a great ...

Re: R12, 16 months on, ... how are you all finding it?

Synths are some of the easiest plug-ins things to replace, due to how many redundancies exist within that market. Whether or not something is as good is always tainted heavily by preference and biases towards specific products, so I cannot really comment on that. People will personally like or disl...

Maybe you should revisit this synth because it sounds really awesome

Pity that it isn't possible to sell RE licenses between users. I would buy this synth from you, immediately
OK I will try it ... again this weekend.

Now I am all about twin 3, my new favorite toy.

VK-2 for 20 bucks ? Oh my god, that would be insta buy for me  . I am trialing VK-2 through subscription after long time again and I am surprised how AMAZING this synth sounds. Re: Beyond Europa?

There was an early software synth back around 2000, can’t remember the name. But it had a simple feature I wish more softsynths had. And that was a list of modules and an unlimited (as far as I ever found) number/combination of modules. So you could build a 10 oscillator synth, or have 12 LFOs and ...

Re: Beyond Europa?

This is more what I was wanting to know - what other synths out there have that we don't see natively in Reason yet. I don't know much about VST synths or what they are capable of especially in comparison to native Reason devices. With importable wave tables I found Europa to be only a little less ...

Re: Beyond Europa?

Europa is nice but there is so much arguably even more powerful synths in the market. Serum, Pigments, vital, phase plant, ... Even if Europa has some unique features wave table is a very crowded market. On the other hand, Reason Studio has the absolute king of physical modeling. I don't know any sy...

Re: R12, 16 months on, ... how are you all finding it?

Did that ever get fixed? I remember it being very buggy and a lot of people being very angry Actually I used it at lot... It was not buggy in the sense of crash or features not working. It was just poorly optimised. Basically 2-3 times the CPU usage of the VST. That being said, with the skyrocketin...

Re: R12, 16 months on, ... how are you all finding it?

Personally, I am more than fine with abandoning developers who don't make the move to VST3. I don't think it is even worth investing in them. They have had far too long to move to VST3, by now. There is literally no excuse for it. I theory I agree with you. In practice, there are a few A-List plugi...

Haha, yes, I do like its look, all except those orange knobs. It makes them easy to locate but I have considered changing them for something a little more mellow. Wandering around a music shop with your eyes closed must result in some hefty bills for breakages. Music shops are inherently ri...

Re: What are your fav synths to “just listen to”?

It's hardware but Microfreak. Stuff it through a delay and/or reverb pedal and noodle away. You can modulate anything and everything by putting more than one finger on the same key, or by "trilling" on a key and it has more oscillator types than I can remember. There is always something new and ple...

Re: What are your fav synths to “just listen to”?

I don’t know if I could decide which I like better. I like VK2 a lot but I don’t understand the interface so I rarely touch it. But they all sound great. What makes Obsession better in your opinion? I’m curious. It is just the sound and the warmth of it. If i am with a song that start to be too har...
