Re: The Future of Reason DAW
I remain all in on Reason. It has strengths and weaknesses, just like any other DAW. The truth is pretty much every DAW is more than capable these days, you're really choosing between 10% of functionality. I do have some gripes about the sequencer, but it's easily "good enough" for me and I'd rather...

Bug in Delta MIDI Computer player device?
I think I found a bug in Delta MIDI Computer. Here's a video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lo4SoINrlI4 In the video: Reason drum kits is being played a by a constant note (F#1) in the sequencer Delta is intercepting F#1 and transposing it based on the state of CV1 CV1 is being driven by a Thor Mo...

Anyone use the Alesis Strike Multipad?
I'm trying to get it set up to trigger Reason Drum Kits. It's mostly working great, but I'm trying to come up with a way to nicely simulate a hi-hat pedal. I figured out a promising solution using the Multipads "Sync Groups", but ran into an issue - Sync Groups don't seem to apply to the MIDI output...

Thanks for all the responses so far, this is great! _andreypetr_ that baby cry sounds great! Thx for sharing. Love the idea of trying Objekt, I didn't think of that! I've been going down a Complex-1 rabbit hole instead. And having fun, but not making much progress towards my goal. TritoneAddiction t...

Emulating a human scream
Hi all, I've gotten interested in emulating a realistic human scream using synths. I don't mean dubsteb obviously synthetic "screams", I mean trying to match the actual sound of a human screaming as closely as possible. (Please note I'm not interested in using samples for this project, I want to syn...

Re: [STOCK] ADT emulation
I updated the combi to use "DRY" instead of SRC. I also got rid of the concept of presets... too hard to maintain. So now there's just one in the .zip file. Updated the page here:

Oh good call, I'll make that change =]If you want a better three letter solution, consider using the more common DRY to avoid confusion.

[STOCK] ADT emulation
Hey all... this is my first time trying to share a combinator 2. I really wanted an ADT (artificial double tracking) effect, and it occured to me I could probably build on pretty easily. I'm pretty happy with how it came out, so I thought I'd share it in case it helps someone. I call it 'gribbly ADT...

Re: R12, 16 months on, ... how are you all finding it?
after about a dozen or so updates from RS, R12 has gone from a bug-strewn mess to one of the best iterations of Reason I’ve used since I started using Reason back in the v1 days 20+ years ago. It literally never crashes on me now, just keeps ticking along and is super reliable, just like the old da...

Re: Heroes by Bowie on reason
Oh are you mainly talking about recreating the Robert Fripp guitar feedback line? Details on how it was done here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/%22Heroes%22_(David_Bowie_song)#Backing_track It's all feedback. I honestly think you could do a decent recreation using a synth. E.g., here's a crappy fiv...

Re: R12, 16 months on, ... how are you all finding it?
I am loving R12, just as I’ve loved every previous version of Reason! I don’t have R+ (I try to avoid subscriptions as much as possible), so I just bought the upgrade. Combi 2.0 is pretty nice! I don’t make new ones that often, but I’ve made a couple of custom instruments for myself that I use all t...

Re: Player Automation Doesn't Work in Real Time, mist precede bar
I just tried to reproduce this in Reason 12 and couldn't. I created a couple of synths with Scales and Chords and Bassline Generator players, and automated a bunch of stuff right on bar lines. Everything worked correctly (meaning the automations to Notes, Inversion, etc. all took effect as expected ...

Reason Drum Kits "ALT HI-HAT" mappings
I love RDK and use it a lot, but the RDK manual doesn't really explain what the "ALT HI-HAT" key mappings do. I usually trigger the high hat using F#1, G#1 and A#1 (Original key map). However F#3 - F4 are also mapped to hi-hat sounds, and labeled "ALT HI-HAT", with sub-markings "POLY". I'm wondering...

Re: Can you only install Reason on your C drive?
Heh, I didn’t realize you were OP of that other thread. Have you tried the symlink thing? Bit of a hassle to set up, but from my experience with symlinks it’s a one time “set and forget” kind of problem. Fiddly to get it working, but once it’s working it stays working. To be clear - I’ve never used ...

Re: Can you only install Reason on your C drive?
Previously discussed here: https://forum.reasontalk.com/viewtopic.php?t=7524313 tldr you can put the program files anywhere, but the soundbanks and REs (which take up most of the space) have to be on your system drive (usually C). However, you can use symlinks to have the files on a different drive ...

Re: automatic add new loop/take record
If you're recording audio, each loop will be recorded as a separate take in the comp editor. So you can do as many passes as you want of a vocal or whatever, then choose the best takes after (by selecting the newly-created clip and hitting COMP EDIT in the sequencer). Take a look at Editing audio in...

Re: Fix bad bass tone from old multi-track tape
Could also try adding some light distortion (with Scream or similar)... that can add some nice top end to a bassline.
Another thing might be to use the "sidechain the kickdrum" trick to have the bass duck every time the kick hits. That can make a muddy bassline sound a bit clearer too.

Re: Reason's Mixer: FX send/return - how to properly apply FX
Generally my advice is "work backwards from what you're trying to achieve" and that will give you hints. For example, if your track is meant to sound like a rock band playing together in a room, you can probably send a bunch of tracks to the same Room verb to simulate that. If you want a more modern...

Re: What do you suck at in Reason?
Mixing full stop, just can't do it :/ The book "Mixing Secrets for the small studio" by Mike Senior is really good to help develop your mixing skills. Very quick suggestions from me: * Your mix lives or dies on midrange. Try putting a temporary EQ on your mastering that cuts everything below 250 an...

I've bought every Reason version since 1.0 (also multiple versions of Record =]). I don't feel insulted in the slightest by the statement. Recurring revenue is great, and anything that helps Reason/Props survive and thrive is OK with me. The only thing that would offend me is if they switched to a "...

Re: 'Failed to open GUI support library' RRP in Reaper Win10
I was having this problem and found a workaround.
In REASON REAPER Preferences, go to Plug-ins > VST and disable the setting "Inform plug-ins of offline rendering state"
I was able to get RRP to load and work normally after that!
