Re: How to adjust MIDI knob sensitivity?
Check the Global Parameters for the Beatstep. According to the Beatstep manual, you can choose from three response curves for the encoders. It sounds like you've chosen the "Slow" setting.

Re: Newbie VST Midi question
I don't have Royal Bassist, but I have Mellow which I'm sure operates the same. UJAM's Virtual Basses and Guitars don't output MIDI. You trigger their Phrases with single notes on your keyboard. When you record, all you'll get in the track is long single notes that keep the Phrase going. You may als...

Re: can you sidechain reverb (or any FX) when it's used as a send FX?
so this means, probably, the answer to my question is - "no, it's not possible" and I should do it the more CPU eating way - set parallel channels for all the individual tracks and not use the reverb as a send effect. right? That's correct. If you want sidechain control on an individual channel's r...

Re: can you sidechain reverb (or any FX) when it's used as a send FX?
I'm assuming you want to use sidechaining to duck the reverb when an instrument plays? If so, it's an odd request if used on more than one instrument at the same time because the ducking will happen for the total reverb sound even if only one instrument crosses the threshold. Still, yes you can duck...

Re: Battle of the RE samplers
Also, though not an RE, Portatron is made by Robotic Bean, the developer behind much of Reason's best stuff. It's a sample player, wrapped in a 4-trk cassette player. It offers some very interesting options to manipulate samples. And by its design, it's ideal for use with very long samples. On one l...

Re: Battle of the RE samplers
Grain offers a deep and satisfying variation on sample manipulation and playback. You can obviously make grainy clouds of sounds with it, but you can also make the grains quite long and truer to the original form. Here's a piece I did using five instances of Grain to manipulate sampled phrases of st...

Re: Korde skipping first note after initial playthrough
Haven't used Korde in a while, but I'm testing it now, wondered if maybe a bug has crept in with recent Reason and OSX updates, but it works just fine for me. Thanks though for reminding me how much I like working with Korde. It's great for generative music.

There's a reason that 5-pin DIN MIDI is still a thing after 40 years. It works.

Re: Safari warning of Reasontalk password leak?
I got a massive warning yesterday - many of my passwords were recently detected in leaks. Most of them were passwords that used keyboard patterns that are easy for me to recall - apparently I'm not the only one who thinks that way. So I replaced them all, using Safari's strong pwd generator. I'm gla...

Re: Rytmik Cymbal sample acting weird.
Are there other drum sounds being triggered by DrumSequencer on the same step? If there are, and they're playing, then there's a mystery. But if the cymbal is the only sound on that downbeat, it's possible the pattern switch command is reaching DrumSequencer just a touch too late and missing that fi...

Re: Loop slicers
I wouldn't call Sugarbytes' Egoist 'simple', but it mostly covers your list. And I love using it. - Chop by beat (with the sensitivity control) or grid (sorry, the grid is limited to 16 slices). - Time stretch and re-pitch (both sound really good). - One-shot (trigger from a MIDI note). No latch mod...

Re: Feature request - having rack on the right
It really helps to have two monitors. And in my workflow, two Rack columns are mandatory, as I spend most of my time there. The sequencer only needs to show me a few tracks at a time, and the mixer, which I barely touch, can easily be hidden or compressed. So they share the second monitor, horizonta...

Re: Arp not in sync after export to wav
This is just a suggestion (it has worked for me once or twice in the past, though not consistently). Insert an empty bar or two at the start of the song. This might give the arpeggiator a chance to 'think' about what it has to do before it actually starts doing it in the export process. If this work...

Sixteen bucks at PiB (with virtual cash) for a great sounding acoustic bass plugin. I've got a few of their virtual guitars too, all on sale (and even free). I've got AAS Strum, which I like a lot, but I have to say the UJAM virtual guitars sound more organic. They're based on a large sample collect...

Re: What did you just buy yourself?
SEQUND and ChordJam, two interesting and useful sequencey things that, alas, won't play nice with Reason without a workaround. That's cool, Logic makes it easy. SEQUND is random fun with a generous assortment of lanes. ChordJam smokes ChordSequencer. Workflows aren't the same, obviously,, but the fe...
